ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

I never even considered the possibility of the hotel actually selling out!! Yikes. I guess I'll have to stress to my guests that booking early is important...whether that will help or if they'll believe me, who knows ;-)

 

If the Royal books up, could guests stay at the Gran Porto? I've heard of Gran guests being offered upgrades to the Royal which might work out if there are last-minute cancellations...Just a thought.

We plan to have an AHR when we return home. About one month after the wedding. We will be having it at like an American legion...the plates are only about $12/ person, so its not totally out of control.

 

We will have the DJ annouce us, we will do our first dance there...I'm unsure if I should wear my dress again at the AHR, because there will be 150 guests there that didn't get to see me on my actual wedding day. Plus for pictures of our first dance and all I would like to be in my dress. Maybe I can wear it for the first 2 hours or something and then change??

Has Anyone thought about doing this for their rehearsal dinner?

 

I was also told that you have to pay a per person charge to arrange a rehearsal dinner at one of the restaurants at the royal or gran, i think it was $15 per person.

 

But what if my wedding group, went to one of the restaurants at The Gran Porto (since Most people are staying there if not at the Royal) and we got there early and saved a few tables and the big group of us sat down normally like we would for a dinner. This way we dont have to choose one meal option for everyone from the choices the wedding coordinator gives us, instead everyone chooses what they want to eat off the menu just like they normall would do for dinner that night at their resort.

 

What do you guys think, can this work? I remember a past bride said she was going to try to do this for her rehearsal dinner but never heard if she went though with it..

 

Also - anyone who has eaten at the restaurants at The Gran Porto - any restaurants you liked the best or think would be best for a party of 25?

I have my wedding booked for the day after yours! We have 16 rooms booked so far, but I don't expect anymore, 1 at most.

I am doing an AHR on May 22, which is just the following weekend as soon as we get back. We are having about 300 for the reception. I am trying to keep it as simple as possible while still making it nice. There is a big building in my hometown that is used for receptions. All the catering and music and alcohol has to be brought in. That is saving us a lot of money rather than using a hotel though. I got lucky and have a friend of the family that is a caterer, so it's only about $7 per person.

Speaking of invitations, how are you wording the bottom? Even though our family has already booked the trip I still want to send out formal invitations. I don't know how to word that the wedding is in the gazebo (as of now), and it's at the Royal Playa del Carmen in Playa del Carmen. Do I put Mexico? Or Riviera Maya? Or just call it The Royal, without the PDC afterwards? I have all of the other wording figured out, just not the location part.

i would love to do that too...i heard that they don't allow large groups to sit together at gran but i may be misinformed. hopefully we can do that!!

for those brides talking about rooms possibly being sold out, take this from my experience: let your guests know to book early!!

 

my wedding is in april at The Royal on a Friday, most people r just NOW looking into booking. Well, Now the Royal is sold out thursday and Friday so people cant go there. The Gran porto is sold out on Friday night (wedding night) so people have to go elsewhere for that night. its just a nightmare and i didnt realize how fast these resorts can book up. half my guests havent even booked!

You know I wonder what the policy is if rooms sell out at the Royal if we will still have to pay the non-resort guest price? I mean if the resort does not have enough rooms for our guests is that really our fault? uggggghhhh this is starting to get so aggravating.

I was thinking about doing this, only they'll only push tables together for upto 10 people.
