  1. I had thought about choosing a resort that was cheaper but with all the amenities and the resort credits that guests receive, Moon Palace is worth it! I've looked into DJ Discomovil and his prices are great. Depending on how long our reception will be (either 3 or 4 hours) will determine if I go with him or the in-house DJ. Have you heard any reviews about them? And I know what you mean about the deposits, they're starting to add up (especially given the exchange rate for us Canadians)! I've basically looked at it as a positive, we won't have to shell out as much in the end! LOL I also had the same issue with you about booking. I thought that giving people enough time to save and book the date would be a good thing. Instead, some have said that it's too far ahead to plan for?!?!? I don't get it either and I think it's something all destination brides go through! I want blue shoes too and have been looking at Badgley Mischka ones but have to try them on. They'll be my reception shoes and will look for a wedge one or barefoot sandals for the ceremony since we'll be at the beach. And I've seen your pics of you in your dress, you look beautiful! I'm sure you're mom will love it
  2. January 23, 2016 bride ☺ @@TheBHolders, why have you been second guessing your resort? As a fellow Moon Palace bride, I'm here if you need to vent about anything lol So far I've done the following: - booked Moon Palace and have had about 25 ppl book as well (sent out a paperless post save the date and also a website) - been liaising with such an awesome off-site coordinator who has great input on a lot of things - booked our photographer, Samuel Luna. I love his style and he is so easy to communicate with, very responsive! - finalizing decor and bouquets for both ceremony and reception with LatinAsia - found my dream dress. Went to a store since they were having a sample sale and fell in love with the first dress I tried on. Now I have to make sure I stay the same size for over a year! - booked Styling Trio for hair and makeup - bought OOT bags from weddingchicks To do: - book a DJ - find the hubby his wedding attire - find shoes - send invites - find goodies for OOT bags I'm sure there's more things to do, good thing I still have over a year to go!
  3. I agree with everyone, thanks so much for the detailed review @@tygrrlily! Where did you get your pashminas?
  4. @@calgarybride2015 you still have plenty of time to get things done and tie up loose ends. I'm sure the tables will look great, you're just a perfectionist, lol Please post pics of what you're working on, I love your planning page. And you're daughter will look just as beautiful as her mom
  5. Hi ladies! I used to get lash extensions regularly. My natural lashes are short and regular mascara just wasn't giving me the length I wanted. I went to Noir Lash Lounge in Vancouver and they did an amazing job. They had different versions you could get, anywhere from full to just a few at the ends. I always went for the full lashes and it would last me 3 weeks and I would then get refills which were cheaper than getting new fills every month. I was really happy with them. BUT after 8 months of continuous lash extensions, I decided to give my lashes a "break" and had them removed. I was left to little to no lashes! It took a long time for my lashes to grow back. It was not a pretty sight! I regretted it at that time but if you ladies are only going to get it done a couple of months before the wedding, it shouldn't be a problem. You should note that they do take getting used to since you can't rub your eyes, you must use a water-based eye makeup remover and you have to gently take your eye makeup off (qtips are good for this), you shoul avoid getting them wet in the shower (water pressure can affect the glue) and I think steam/saunas may affect them too (not sure on this one). Like @@marinah84, I have started using Younique 3D fiber lashes and they are great! Gives me the long lashes and they're natural. They don't put weight on my lashes so I don't have to worry about losing them again lol. Google it, it's awesome. It does take a bit to get used to or you could end up with clumpy or even worse, spider-leg looking lashes
  6. Hi @@JennyZ big hug of support for you. I'm so sorry you've had such a hard time with his side of the family. Please don't let them take away from the Duma DJ excitement of wedding planning (though I know it's easier said than done). Regardless of if they're there or not, you will have an amazing time marrying the man of your dreams. You'll still be surrounded by family and loved ones and it's their loss if they don't want to be a part of it. Take care and hope everything gets better from here on out
  7. @@LTR have you found a DJ yet? I'm getting married at Moon Palace too and am in the same boat. I initially thought an iPod dock would be a great alternative but I don't want to have the hassle of asking a guest to play the songs for us. I want everyone to have a good time and not have to "work" during the reception!
  8. January 23, 2016 at Moon Palace hello to all the 2016 brides!
  9. @@tygrrlily make sure you use a water based makeup remover, oil based one affects the glue. I used to get eyelash extensions on a regular basis and agree that they just make your eyes pop. I wasn't blessed with long lashes and loved my lash extensions. But make sure you don't get water on them (showers were always challenging) as some of the lashes may get crooked when they dry. For anyone wanting to try them, I would advise doing what @@tygrrlily did, and get them a couple months before to get used to them. Don't do it way in advance. After a year of regularly getting them done, i decided to get them removed to let my natural lashes "breathe". Well to my surprise, I was left with lashes that were shorter than what I started with a year ago! I basically had no lashes, not very pretty!
  10. You have done such an amazing job with everything and I cannot wait to see everything come together. Please post pics after.
  11. @@TheBHolders your wedding party is gonna look so sharp! Which is gonna be perfect since you and your fiancé sound like you're going to look fabulous. I've seen pics of your wedding dress and you look absolutely gorgeous in it
  12. @@zoeherr thanks for the compliment I think I'm addicted to wedding planning, and I still have over a year to go lol. Baby pink will look beautiful! You can always compliment it with another color like gold, gray, silver, there's lots of options! And we have chosen and booked Samuel Luna. Check him out, his photos are fabulous and he's really great at getting back to me with any concerns or questions I have. Have you chosen your photographer? Those colors sound really good. I considered navy with coral but my fiancé wanted gray. I figured I should give him his choice of color since I'm deciding on the rest of the decor lol Ivory dresses with the earrings will look great!
  13. @@calgarybride2015 oops, I meant your wedding is coming up in a couple of months. And don't be modest, you are definitely talented. I may have to ask you for help for my wedding DIYs I'm in Surrey, in the lower Mainland so not as much snow as in Northern BC. We freak out when there's more than a cm of snow on the ground lol
  14. @@amarie4713 I'm so excited for you! Please post pics of your wedding day/weeks. early congratulations
  15. @@Icis and @@calgarybride2015 yes, as a BC'er I can attest to us being jealous of your wages lol. But I'd take the rain over snow, I'm not a great driver in the snow @@calgarybride2015 I've suabcribed to your planning thread and have been silently in awe of your talents. You are so talented and creative, I wish I had a bit of that creativity in me. As for your stresses involved with wedding dress fitting, I'm sure it will all work out in the end. You said it felt snug when you took the pics you posted but I thought you looked beautiful in it. I have no doubt that you'll look amazingly gorgeous on your wedding day. Its coming up next month so try to enjoy the lead up, despite all the stresses that come up. xoxo
  16. Hi @@zoeherr! Congrats on your upcoming nuptial ☺️ My offsite coordinator is Elizabeth and she's been great to deal with too. Our colours are grey and coral.

  19. Hi @@colleentf09! I'm also a Moon Palace bride; my wedding is just a few months after yours. They have quite a few vendors and I can't say I'm well versed on all of them but I will say that this forum is really helpful. There's also a Facebook group for Palace brides that's really great. A lot of the vendors, past and future brides and even wedding coordinators are on there and typically reply right away to any questions you may have. Basically I've been addicted to this site and the Facebook group. I've also been quite fortunate to have such a wonderful offsite Palace resorts wedding coordinator. They have over 180 weddings every year so keep that in mind when the response time is delayed. They are really knowledgeable so hopefully you'll hear back from yours soon. If you have any questions, there's a forum for 2015-2016 moon palace brides. We can hopefully help each other out
  20. @@colleentf09 My contract was 5 pages long and the part about the outside vendor fees was under the fifth section of the contract entitled, "Additional Costs". This is where costs for things like private receptions and cocktail hours are outlined. Do you have this info? I hope this helps
  21. My contract states $400 for outside photography and $800 for all other outside vendors
  22. You are amazingly talented @@amarie4713 Youve inspired me to try to make a few things, I'm not as creative though
  23. Again, thanks for everything @@jackielemman! I just saw your pictures and everything looked fabulous. You looked gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous I've been contemplating hiring a DJ but we'll probably have the same number of guests. Based on your advice, I'm seriously rethinking that idea. Best to save money where I can. And we have a budget of $10,000 too so I may be asking you for more tips. Hope you don't mind
