Any MDC Brides hanging around here still? I'm getting married at the Iberostar in Montego Bay but considering honeymooning for a few nights at the Cliffs. Would all of you recommend this as a honeymoon location? I read more about weddings here than honeymoons.

We aren't doing engagement photos unfortunately but I'm just going to get creative with the photobook... use some ones we have from the course of our relationship, some pictures of Jamaica, etc.

Has anyone been to Old Navy and noticed these lately? I have a $10 coupon for the outlet near me with an Old Navy so I'm crossing my fingers. They usually carry the same sort of items as the regular Old Navy's.

Hi Ladies, I think I read this somewhere before but I can't for the life of me find it again. We have an extra day of shooting with our photographer and are trying to decide what the best way to use it will be... if we can afford an excursion for our guests it will be that and our welcome dinner. But, otherwise we are thinking about nearby venues where we could go and take some pictures like the Great Rose Hall House or the Aqueducts. Did anyone else contact them about just taking photos there... I think I read that they charge a pretty large fee. Anyone have any other suggestions of places that might make for some awesome photos? I might be open to TTD, not sure yet because our extra day of shooting might end up being the day beforeee the wedding which wouldn't work out so well!

We're only inviting immediate family to our destination wedding and have heard mixed responses. Mostly, it seems like the concern is about the cost for people to attend. We understand it isn't cheap but since they are immediate family I guess they feel like they have to attend. It's tricky.. I'm carrying quite a bit of destination wedding guilt around for it...

lorcas- no problem, I hope you win something good! I just have to say, this stuff actually really works. I somehow am surprised every time I win something and especially when it actually shows up in my mailbox. Just today I was trying to get a friend to talk me out of ordering a personalized wedding hanger. Nice, not necessary-- but there was a great sale on etsy for the 4th of July Then I get home from dinner and have an email saying I won one from a contest I entered a few days ago. What are the chances of that! It's not exactly the kind I had wanted, it has more of an engraved pendant than the wire with the name... but I think it will end up stunning and classy-- and FREE. Yes, it's only 15-20 bucks I'm saving but all of these nice little touches are adding up... I think!

Ohhhh I love chatting. I don't have too many people to talk about random wedding stuff with so this is great for me. I have a bit of a long weekend for the holiday and I'm itching to get my DIY-on. Anyone want to share their favorite DIY wedding project or what is next on their DIY list? I'm thinking maybe my cake topper...

I'm not doing a dj because I'm only having 10-15 guests and they're not a huge dance crowd. At least for now. I'm also trying to cut costs where I can... I'm hoping to do a beach bonfire at the end of the night. That's more my scene then dancing anyway... and we can go to the disco after if we want! As for photographer, I'm waiting on confirmation but I am hoping to bring someone from around here with me. It is a friend of a friend and I think it'll end up costing about the same as having a Jamaica based Photographer shoot for 5 hours... but I will get a lot more out of it!! How about you? And seriously, I always feel SO far behind when I come on here. I'm freaking out about budget/money a bit but that isn't out of the ordinary for me either...

Very true! We're a crafty bunch. I'm DIY'ing a lot of my wedding... but not this part. Thanks for sharing that! Sarah's is beautiful... you are right! I just love how charming letterpress is. It manages to look so vintage and elegant. I think it is amazing that you are going to do it yourself! I hope you will keep us up to date on how it goes. It sounds like quite a project! I got very lucky and found someone who is expanding her wedding design line for letterpress invitations and is offering me a ridiculously good deal in exchange for 1) trying out one of her new designs and 2) letting her use images of my invites on her website and in promotional materials. She's been fantastic to work with and I'm so excited to see how they come out!! That's the other thing about letterpress.. it takes awhile.

Invites won't be for awhile for me.. though I am working on them. I did recently send a newsletter type thing sharing our travel agents information and encouraging people to put down a deposit. I was in a weird in between the save the dates and invitations phase so this was cute and served its purpose!

Hi Ladies, I couldn't find this anywhere else on the forum so my apologies if it has been asked & answered before. I am hoping to fly in my own photographer. A friend of a friend does a lot of weddings locally and is willing to give us quite a good deal in exchange for paying for his flight, accommodation, and a little bit extra. We will get a lot more for our money this way and I'm pretty sure this is the route I want to go. Has anyone else flown in their own photographer? I believe I've seen a few other ladies do that here. If so, what kind of contract terms did you make sure to have? He's writing it up but I want to make sure I don't miss anything that should be included before I sign. For some reason I feel like having him fly there makes it a little bit more risky in some ways then booking a local photographer. Thanks for sharing your experiences!
