  1. Oh yeah, I wanted to add-- you could also try these websites: http://www.weddingdaygiveaways.com/ http://weddingbounty.com/ And, while not wedding specific this one also often has items that would work for a wedding (jewelry, decor, etc.): http://etsygiveaways.blogspot.com/
  2. Yup, I definitely use a separate email address for everything-- it's a gmail. It works great. I also don't enter any giveaways that require what I feel to be "too much" information-- like I'm not giving my address or phone number out unless I win-- but that is a personal preference. There are a lot of great items out there! I was cautious at first and figured there was no way that it could be real but then items kept showing up at my door. Nothing better than coming home to something pretty (and free!) in your mailbox. Today, I got a stunning necklace I plan to wear at my welcome dinner!
  3. This is a great list of wedding blogs: http://www.weddingblogs100.com/. I particularly like the budget-related ones... Emmaline Bride, Style Me Pretty, etc are also really great. To find the giveaways I sometimes do twitter searches or google blogsearches for "wedding giveaway." I hope that helps!!
  4. It is crazy how many "scams" are out there... you're right, brides have to be really careful because these companies are so tricky!! I'm glad you figured it out before you booked...!! Oh man, that is such a bummer about the photobooth. I wonder if someone would buy it off of you for $25 or $50 bucks, it would still save them money. I've been finding my giveaways mostly on blogs-- I think I'm having good luck so far because they mostly have a lower number of entries-- giving me a better chance! I hope you start winning soon.
  5. That is awesome! I know that they don't get talked about too much here... wonder why?
  6. I'm just curious... have any of you ladies won anything for your wedding? Blog giveaways, from bridal shows, etc. etc.? If so, what did you win and from where? The past month I've been trying to devote a little bit of time to entering and always considered myself one of those people who "never won anything." But, I've won quite a few... veil, some pretty jewelry, custom favor bags, a gift certificate towards decor... etc. I think the payoff has been well worth the time! Since I'm watching my budget carefully-- every little bit helps! I haven't won any huge ticket items yet like a gown or honeymoon... but maybe someday? A girl can hope! So tell me, have you won anything for your big day?
  7. Good to know that there is at least one other letterpress lover here! I just think they are so elegant and special.
  8. I might do something like this for my AHR. Thanks for sharing! I also like the idea of using plastic to make it lighter/a little more durable.
  9. Lots of Iberostar brides here! I haven't been to Jamaica yet but I am still SO excited to get married there. Hearing from all of the other brides really helps ease any concerns that I have along the way.
  10. The posts fly by... there is so much good information on here!
  11. Black yes, Green no! Flying on a plane?
  12. MrsHK, your ship in the bottle is ADORABLE. You did a great job! Where did you find the ship in the bottle part?
  13. Hi Ladies, I was wondering if any of you were considering using letterpress invitations? I haven't been able to find too many destination wedding brides who went that route so I was just curious. If you did use them, please feel free to share them here! And if you're going to, or aren't, tell us why or why not... One of the benefits of having a small wedding is that I don't need as many invites, favors, etc. so I can spend a little more on each of them even though I'm on a pretty tight budget. I think that letterpress invitations would be amazing if I can swing it!
  14. I can't imagine how people planned destination weddings before the internet...
  15. I agree, I love the postcard idea-- and that you're sending them in envelopes so they travel safe and can be framed.
  16. Jnitschke- I can totally see why you can't wait for me... these are stunning! Congratulations and thanks for sharing.
  17. I know this is an older thread but I just have to say I LOVE your invitations! Letterpress is amazing and they turned out great!
  18. Plus, I can only imagine that it will be even MORE helpful once we reach that magic 150 # and can open templates.
  19. Good idea. I loveee Pinterest-- so much inspiration on there! I think the issue I am having is I'm half doing things on paper and half doing things electronically. I need to commit!
  20. Jmonty25- you have to be a supporter of the forum or reach 150 posts before you can open attachments. I hope that helps!!
  21. This site is a wealth of information. I don't think I would have had the confidence to have a destination wedding if I didn't find resources like this to help me along the way.
