  1. Hello! I have a brand new Maggie Sottero Chelsa with all tags and the certificate of authenticity available for sale. Nothing is wrong with the dress and no alterations have been made, I just changed my mind and purchased a new dress but it was too late to cancel this one and now I need to sell it. All the details are below. PM me if interested! Color: Ivory Fabric: Lace on point d'esprit Size: 14 (street size 10, no alterations have been made) Price: $1000 (I paid $2100 for the dress and sash, which I will include in this, so this is a savings of over 50%!) Sash: hand cut lace with hand-applied beading. Should be sewn directly onto the dress if you purchase. Pictures are below! http://www.sotteroandmidgley.com/dress.aspx?style=ASM3588
  2. This is good to know, thank you! I might strongly consider adding the hour. I want to do the father/daughter and mother/son dances and maybe some toasts and a bit of dancing. We can go to the club after though and I love your glow stick idea!
  3. Do you have a group rate for the hotel? If so then there's usually a date by when your group needs to be all paid up. I made my RSVP deadline a month before that. Hope that helps!
  4. I love these too! Can you all tell I'm partial to purple? Quote: Originally Posted by heather1214 I chose a color that is really hard to match. I had picked out a couple different ones, but this one was more daring which is why I think I love it so much! I can't wait for them to get here!!
  5. Yep! I have a pdf that Secrets sent me with all the extras, and a single steel drum was one of the options. If you want to PM me your email address I can send it to you.
  6. Just thought I'd share this deal with any LA-based brides. Today there was a Groupon for Big Mike's Ultimate Beach Workout, which takes place in Santa Monica on the beach right next to the pier. http://www.ultimatebeachworkout.com/Ultimate_Beach_Workout.html http://www.yelp.com/biz/ultimate-beach-workout-santa-monica You can sign up for 1, 2 or 3 months of unlimited classes, which are offered 3 times a week at 3 different times a day. I just signed up for 3 months! Don't make me go alone! Haha.
  7. I'm bringing table linens, stuff for centerpieces (flowers, vases, candles, table numbers in frames), fabric to drape the arch on the beach with, making and bringing my own pommanders and shepherd's hooks, signs for the cocktail hour and guest book, menus, plus all of my OOT stuff. Don't ask me how I'm getting it all there because I have no idea! Haha. I think we might do a steel drum for the ceremony-- you can hire one solo steel drum for 45 minutes for $350. I thought that might be a fun way to get the steel drum since I agree with you that the jamaican trio isn't as exciting.
  8. Hello! I got that package as well. My wedding isn't until April so I haven't been in touch with the WC about all the add-ons yet, but I plan to bring a lot of my decor in to save money and also because I'm a control freak. I hired an outside photographer and will use the photographer that comes with the package to take portraits of guests for the guest book. Previous Secrets brides have mentioned costs add up so I'm hoping it doesn't get too crazy once I start getting into the final planning.
  9. What do people think about having a bridal shower and inviting people who have already RSVPd that they can't go to the wedding? Is it nice to still include them, or will it be awkward if there's a lot of talk about the wedding knowing they can't make it? I don't want them to think I'm inviting them just to get a gift out of them, I just would like some people who won't be able to go to Jamaica to join the shower fun!
  10. Totally not crazy!! It's awesome that you can return it and only lose the shipping costs. Good luck-- hope you love it when you get it in person!
  11. I'm using Saab. Loved the work I saw on their website. They are a bit pricier (2 photographers for 5 hours is $2550) but I'm willing to splurge on photos!
  12. I like the pink napkins on the plates with the white menu cards. It all looks fab! Congrats to you!!
  13. Yeah I'm just using the cake provided by the hotel. But there's this thread from other brides with cake suggestions if you need a baker! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/37890/cake-baker-in-montego-bay-or-rose-hall Good luck! And I'm sure the venue you're using will be beautiful too! I guess as brides we all get a little indecisive on at least one thing! In my case it's been more than one, but the dress was the biggest. Haha.
  14. I was afraid of the cost to get the flowers I want and I actually found this woman on Etsy who makes really beautiful paper bouquets. Seems odd I know but she is making me a bouquet with the colors/flowers I want. I sent her several inspiration pics (this was one) and she's been great to work with so far. I don't have them yet, or a photo of what she's done, because I still have several months. Can't wait to see what she comes up with! Here's the bouquet I saw in her Etsy shop that first sold me on her services: Here's her Etsy shop if you're interested. http://www.etsy.com/shop/loveleeflowers Not a lot of items, but like I said, she is making me a bouquet with the flowers/colors I want. Plus a bridesmaid's bouquet and two bouts for about $450. So I'm sure she could create something custom for you too! But also if flowers are not a big deal to you, real or otherwise, then ditch them! It should be all about you. Who cares what the fam thinks.
  15. We're flying American too. I was originally going to splurge on first class when booking our tickets, but decided to wait and see if I can get an upgrade just before. Maybe now I'll try the dress method and hope our flight isn't full and the flight attendants are nice!
  16. We booked our own photographer (Saab Weddings) for 4 hours, but our wedding package also includes a resort photographer. Using the resort option made me nervous since I wouldn't be able to see a portfolio of work ahead of time, so I'm glad we have Saab as our primary photo source. Another bride had a great idea for the resort photographers that are included, which was to have them get shots of all the guests so we can have them for a guestbook/scrapbook later. That's the new plan. Hopefully 4 hours with Saab will be enough! We're not planning a TTD.
  17. Thanks ladies for the input!! Yeah it turned out that the bridal shop would not refund any of my money for dress #2 since I'd already paid in full. I will pick it up this month when it arrives and then I have to try and re-sell it. But it's OK because I'm happy with #3. That first pic I posted is kind of a horrible pic. Here's a better one (only slightly better. weird lighting/coloring and fuzzy.) P.S.-- FI brews beer and saves the old bottles to disinfect and re-bottle with his own brews. I swear we're not just alcoholics who always have bottles littering our floor.
