  1. I'm glad to hear others have had this issue too! I think part of my problem is that while dress hunting I was so set on lace, that it's really all I tried on. Seeing other brides in beautiful mermaid styles with fun ruffles at the bottom just makes me curious how it'd look on me and since I never really tried any on I can't rule them out just yet. I might just look casually with my best friend/MOH one day, and hopefully they look horrible on me and I can move on and keep the Maggie Sottero, which I do really like! Thanks girls for the input. Will let you know how it turns out.
  2. So in April of this year I purchased a Vera Wang for David's Bridal dress http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_V-Neck-Soft-A-Line-Gown-with-Hand-Appliqued-Lace-VW351021_Bridal-Gowns-Shop-By-Designer-White-by-Vera-Wang (without the crazy huge belt) that I later had second thoughts on. Luckily because the store messed up and forgot to send in the order to the designer, they let me cancel it and refunded my money. Just a few weeks ago in July I purchased this Sottero and Midgley dress http://www.sotteroandmidgley.com/dress.aspx?style=ASM3588&page=0&pageSize=16&keywordText=&keywordType=All (again, without the sash or the bolero) and now I'm having second thoughts on this one, too. But it's already been ordered and paid for in full. Am I crazy if I look for a third dress? I now think I don't want lace and instead want a mermaid in a light fabric, like organza, with rouching on the top that's fitted and then goes out into something fun and flirty. Anyone else purchased more than one dress? Or even two, like me?!
  3. I love everything about this. THANK YOU! Totally just saved a copy of this image for my inspiration board folder.
  4. Yes, love these tips and thanks for submitting them! I hate taking photos. Our engagement photo session felt super awkward. Turns out it's really hard to kiss/laugh/attempt to look adorable/look like I'm having the time of my life/look natural when there's a camera around. Most of the pics turned out nice, but still, nerve-wracking! I can imagine it's even more so on the wedding day!
  5. Taco man and cake pops?! I'm officially jealous. That sounds super fun!
  6. I'm getting married 4.27.13 and I bought my dress a couple weeks ago. It's set to arrive just before Christmas, so that gives me from December-April for alterations in case of any weight loss (fingers crossed!) I know what you mean though about worrying you'll find another dress you like. Once you find one and commit, you just have to stop looking, otherwise you'll torture yourself! I know because I'm the same way. One of the consultants on Say Yes to the Dress told a bride "once you find the groom, you don't keep going to singles bars!" Thought that was cute/funny.
  7. LOVE!! So pretty. And ombre is so in right now too! I'm leaning towards something simple, just two tiers probably, and with tropical flowers added for a pop of color. I feel like the simpler I go the less chance I'll have of the resort messing it up. I like these two right now:
  8. My FI doesn't care too much about the details. I run everything by him, but mostly he's letting me do what I want. He DOES care about choosing the music, food and his clothing. He has good taste so I trust him.
  9. I bought 20 of these on an impulse one day when GroupOn or LivingSocial or one of the deal sites had a sale on them. I haven't cleared them with my resort yet and was hoping to show up with them and ask when we do our first meeting a few days before the wedding. I got them for like $30 and they pack flat, so I figure if they say no, no big deal. I could always sell them to another bride when I get back! But I'm also hoping that if I go to the trouble of taking them there and show them that they're eco-friendly and easy they'll just say yes. Fingers crossed!
  10. Yep, paper!! Here's the designer's website: http://www.loveleeflowers.com/wedding.html You are right about the pink and orange being perfect for a DW. I love that combo too! See? All over the place!
  11. I am kind of all over the place with colors. I waffle between wanting fun, bright, summery colors like lemon yellow and lime green and turquoise, and more muted tones like purples, creams and greys because that's more me. I feel like I should go bright since it'll be springtime, on the beach and in Jamaica, but I keep finding myself drawn to purple things. Like this bouquet (it's actually paper!!) that I saw in an Etsy shop.
  12. This is all great feedback ladies, thanks! I do agree with the argument that you can never send stuff out too early when it comes to a DW, but I guess my concern was if I already sent out STDs and I send out my official invites in a couple months, will people forget by the time the due date of Feb comes around, especially since it's just after the holiday craziness? I guess I can't worry about bugging everyone and it's their responsibility to stay on top of things if they really want to go.
  13. Haha you're funny. I love yours too! Lots of good info and pics, so you can tell you spent time on it. Sometimes I worry I have too much info and no one but me will read it all. This is confirmed by the fact that FI has asked me a question that was clearly answered on the website and I was like "did YOU read it? If you won't even read it no one else is going to!" LOL. Also with your site I like that there's music. My site claims you can add music, but I could only get it to work on the home page and not while browsing the other pages so I gave up. Oh well. And yes, I love Babs! She's super fast to reply to things and I've even been a bit indecisive on things (I briefly wanted to switch hotels, and had her chasing down deals at the other place, then I decided I wanted to stay but change our room reservation at the first place to a different room) and she's been patient.
  14. I'm not planning a TTD session, but I think doing it before guests arrive so you don't have to take time away from them is a good idea. Especially if you, like me, are using the week as an opportunity to hang out with all of your loved ones. As for your FI seeing you in your dress, I planned on doing our photos right before the wedding ceremony so that we can enjoy our cocktail hour and I'd worried about this too. I think that the first time he sees you in your dress will be special, no matter when that happens. And maybe you could do hair or makeup different than the actual wedding day so you can still have a surprise for him and "wow" him all over again. My only concern would be cleaning/pressing the dress in time for the actual wedding day. But if you're not going to totally trash it and you have 3 days, that should be OK! Or, even better, get a cheap knockoff or off the rack dress for TTD! Then FI doesn't see the dress and you can do your worst to the dress!
  15. I'd love to see something on Secrets St. James/Wild Orchid since there's so little info out there! Thanks for asking for input-- hopefully you guys can organize one for us Secrets brides!
