  1. All-Inclusive here! My fiance like the close proximity to the airport, and being able to pay one price and not have to worry about anything else! I stayed at the JW Marriott in Cancun, and I was spending$100 in drinks a day (12 dollars a pop+ tip)! Also meals were 25-50 dollars a person at the restaurants. Same thing at the Atlantis Paradise Island, Bahamas....food and drink was close to $150-$200 extra a day. At an all inclusive I don't have to feel bad if I didn't like my dinner, because I can always pick something else without worrying about cost.
  2. The majority of my friends are (if they come) are going to pay for their own accomodations. Its just a handful of people, but the people who are my mom's friends are getting 3-4nights paid for at the ritzy(ier) hotel.
  3. I mean if she offers to one more person I am going to flip out on her. I tried to explain to her that if I had a wedding in DC, and her friends from NYC decided to come we wouldn't be responsible for paying for their rooms. She doesn't get it.
  4. She's kind of a control freak, and this is definately a reflection of that trait. Not to mention that I am playing travel agent for her friends booking their hotel rooms on my card. I told her plenty of times that its really not necessary to pay people's way for a DW, but she just doesn't understand it. She keeps saying that in reality we will spend 20K, and she thinks I am nuts for keeping a budget spreadsheet. SORRY for bothering everyone. This is definately me whinning about how my family is giving me $30k to throw a wedding. Haha I really sound like a brat and a half!
  5. She's such a snob too, because its totally ok for my friends to stay at the Caribe but out of the question for hers..
  6. I guess its still her money, but its the money I am getting for the wedding/wedding gift. So in essence after the wedding it is my money for part of a downpayment on a house.
  7. It will all work out in the end. If you have fewer people than expected, go on an excursion with your small group. or take the extra money you don't spend and redo the kitchen in your home.
  8. Hello, Long story short... Getting married at the Royal in Cancun (5 star hotel) Offering that guests stay at the Royal or the Caribe (sister resort 3.5 star) My mom thinks it's rude to throw a destination wedding without offering people accomedations...well...at least to her friends. I have a 15K-17K budget that I VERY much want to stay in because whatever money I do not spend out of 30K is mine to keep. My mother who is paying for the wedding is offering her friends left and right rooms at the Royal (not the caribe, god FORBID they had to stay at the caribe) at like $400 a night! I want my mom to have friends there, but these are established people in the 40-50's. Why am I paying for their rooms? So far it's close to $7500 just on family and friends (of my parents). Am I being ridiculous? I am trying to squeeze money out of our budget now so I can pay for a photographer, but its not looking good. Again, am I being ridiculous and selfish?
  9. I wish this thread had more short reception dresses that were done through china sellers! I really don't want to spend more than $200. Does anyone have any ideas?
  10. Yeah I guess I should look into tungsten as well. I think that's what I am getting FH for his band.
  11. Yes I thought about that, but I don't want to spend like $100-200 on the set. I guess I am being cheap! My ring finger is 4.5. Usually the smallest size they have is a 5.
  12. I have very small fingers and I can't find anything in my size on ebay. Anyone have any reasonably priced options? 3 stone princess cut...
  13. I need centerpieces created...do you think she will be available?
  14. Anyone know of any great vendors for real touch flowers? My mom refuses to get real flowers because no one is able to take them(real flowers) home from mexico!
  15. Congratulations! Welcome to the forum! Good Luck & Happy Planning!
