  1. I think it's sweet. She's caught up in the moment and sounds like she wants to cherish the moment. I can see how this could make you a little uncomfortable, but I don't think that's her intention. It seems like she knows her role, because she's making things for the shower and not your wedding. It seems like she could be a useful asset as your wedding approaches and she won't shy away from lending a helping hand!
  2. efavormart.com is where I was looking at the time. They have satin chair sashes in a variety of colors for less than a dollar and they also have isle runners for around $20. I'm not ordering anything from this company though because if you google them, they have AWFUL reviews and I don't want the headache. There do seem to be good companies out there though and I plan on buying the sashes online (if you go this route make sure you know the difference between grade A and B satin. Most of the $1/sash deals are grade B which can be very flimsy. For around $2 I've been able to find some nice grade A sashes.) I just did a google search. I don't think I'm going to take big flower vases or anything. The cost to fly with that heavy stuff outweighs the cost of just using theirs. I don't think anyone would notice some vases lining the isle anyway. I think I would rather have a couple of nice centerpieces. I also thought about renting out a bar after the dinner for some dancing, I'm just having a really hard time justifying the cost. I guess I'll have somewhere around 20 guests, so it's not like we'd fill up the dance floor anyway! Good luck in your planning!
  3. 6:30 is a highly sought after time to get married in Punta Cana because of the sunset. I think your ceremony will be perfect at this time! Congrats!!!
  4. Well I'm down another 2 pounds (8 total) in about 10 days!!! Of course they would have panera bread asiago bagels at work today... grrrr.... I didn't even take 1 bite! (my stomach may grumble now, but will look awsome when our wedding rolls around!!!)
  5. This is for all the brides who have already been married @ ME... Our ceremony is at the gazebo. I'm thinking about bringing my own isle runner and was just wondering if it's worth it? I'm not paying $100 to use theirs, and I can get a nice one online for around $20 but is it worth it to lug it down there?!?!
  6. We booked a Jr. Suite in the Elegance Club. We are doing the reception dinner at Asadito Steakhouse (I'm not paying that much for private reception!) I'm looking online now to buy my own chair sashes, table runners, and isle runner. For all of them I'm only paying $60. ME charges $5 per chair sash and $100 for the isle runner! We are having a civil ceremony @ 1pm on the 29th (soo excited!) Where are you guys at in your wedding planning?!?!
  7. My cousin is a professional photographer so I plan on having her take our pics. They charge $300 to bring in an outside photographer so I don't plan on telling them anything. (she's just my cousing taking some pics!)
  8. My fiance and I are planning a DW in Punta Cana on June 29, 2011. We are planning a small wedding with only our closest family members so no bridal party except for my maid of honor and his best man. My MOH is my cousin whom I grew up with and am very close to. About 2 years ago she moved across the country to L.A. I don't want her to feel left out of the whole planning process. How can I keep her involved? I will only see her a max of 2 times prior to the wedding, so it would have to mostly be through the internet and over the phone. Thanks in advance. Sarah
  9. I've read in reviews that the Asadito is more private than the Sea & See, but I'm not positive. When is your wedding Melissa???
  10. Congrats!!!! Where will you be traveling from and who did you book through?
  11. Congrats on the weight loss ladies! So far I'm down 6 lbs. I'm hoping to lose another 10 before Christmas, but I know that's going to be hard through the holidays!
  12. I'm trying to figure out if a TA is the way to go. We are getting married June 29, 2011 at Magestic Elegance in Punta Cana. We will have around 20 guests, but not everyone will be traveling the same days or staying at the resort the same days. All the group packages I've seen online say your group has to travel together and stay the same and stay the same # of nights to get the group rate. Are there any group rates out there that don't require this???
  13. bamcandr- All the papers I have that reference La Barcaza for the reception have *info available upon request. They do list the information for other private receptions, so I would only assume this is more $$$. La Barcaza is in the Elegance Club. IDK if you're planning to have any children attending, but this is 18+ only.
  14. Wow. Okay, no one has asked to be in my bridal party. I do understand the whole people inviting themselves deal. I haven't even sent out STD's and I already have people booking at the resort!!! My advice would be to pick your battles. My guess is that most people don't know a lot about DW's and they probably don't mean to step on your shoe's by assuming they're invited. People don't realize the cost associated with it and they each person who comes is another mouth to feed (I know that sounds awful, but when it comes down to it, it's the truth). Your pastor's daughter has put you in a very uncomfortable situation. I can't even imagine!!!! Don't compromise your wishes for your Happily Ever After just to appease her. It will probably be awkward but I would pull her aside and talk to her 1-1. Explain that you're planning a smaller wedding and bridal party (even if you're not) because it's a DW. Tell her you are flattered she would want to stand by you on your day, but that you already have asked people to fill that role. It's not going to be comfortable to tell her this, but I think this would be easier on you than stressing the whole time and ending up with her standing up there with you. (People sure do have some nerve!) As far as the bridal party arriving the day of... Forget it! There's no way they should put that stress on you. I would express that if anyone is unable to arrive at least the day before your wedding that you would love to have them as a guest, but will not be able to keep them in the bridal party. IDK what time your wedding will be, but flights probably don't get there until early afternoon. by the time they get to the resort and get checked-in, before even starting to get ready, the day will be almost over! People should not be rushing around because they got there late. I think you will feel very stressed if this is the case, and I do think this is a battle you should choose to fight! Congratulations and GOOD LUCK with the many twists and turns of wedding planning!
  15. I LOVE these!!! great find. thanks for sharing

  17. Our wedding is at the Majestic Elegance. I soo wish we had planned this earlier and could have a chance to venture down there before the big day, but we will just wait and hopefully the resort will take our breath away! I'm going to try the workout vidoes directv has. I'll let you know how it goes!
  18. Let's Go June brides!!! My FH and I are book for June 29, 2011 at Majestic Elegance. Ceremony will be at 1:00pm at the Wedding Gazebo. We are having our dinner at Asadito. On a small budget. Will be sending boarding pass STD's this weekend (I know I'm waaay behind). I'm very big on the DIY and I'm finding it's a lot easier than I originally anticipated. Where is everyone on their planning??

  21. We're tying the knot @ ME June 29, 2011. I assume you have the info you need by now, but if not PM me and I'll send you all of their info. CONGRATS!!!
  22. Perfect! We CAN do this!!! I don't have a gym membership (hate going anyways). I'm going to try this at home on my own (yikes!) Do you know where you will be getting married yet?!?! Good Luck!
  23. I don't think it's too much to ask! Guests don't have to stay more than a couple of days. Also, you're inviting them, not demanding they go. My FH and I have huge families and we don't have the money to have a wedding where everyone can come. That's why we are so excited about the DW! It'll definately be smaller and more accomodating to our small pockets. We are getting married at Majestic Elegance on June 29, 2011. The package is $1,750 which seems high but it has a lot of extra's included that other resorts tack on later and charge for so this is the straight up price. Their symbolic package is $1,250. All in all with our flights, staying 8 days, and the wedding package it's around $4,300. This is a huge savings for us b/c we planned on spending that much just on a honeymoon! Hope this helps!
