  1. There is no waiting period or blood work required in the Dominican.
  2. The free dinner can only be held at Asadito (steakhouse) or the Sea & See (seafood). They tell me there is enough privacy/room to cut the cake, do toasts, ect. We are doing ours at Asadito (confirmed June 29, 2011) and then just going to a bar after. I'm not paying their ridiculous prices when it's AI. I have the set menu's for both restaurants if you want them PM me. Congrats and Good Luck!
  3. We are getting married at Majestic Elegance. It's perfect because the Elegance Club gives you the "adult-only" feel, but children can still stay and come to the wedding! Check out their wedding pics http://picasaweb.google.com/Weddingbymajesticresorts. I have all the info for wedding packages, extra's, and the menu's for the semi-private wedding dinner. If you would like it send me your email. Good luck and Congrats!!! Sarah [email protected]
  4. How's the weight loss ladies?!?! I'm getting married June 29, 2011 and plan to lose 30 pounds before then. Today is day one and I will post weekly my weight loss/gain (hopefully only loss!). We should try to post our progress every week to keep each other motivated! I know that seeing others success will motivate me! Let's do it!!!
  5. My concern with getting my hair done at the salon is getting to and from the salon. It's located far from the elegance club (from what i can see on the resort map). I don't want to make the trek all the way across the resort and then all the way back to finish getting ready. I'm worried about the heat and humidity (don't want to be all sweaty!) So i'm stuck too. Do i risk doing it myself or just go on the journey of having them do it? I'm having my future sister-in-law do my make-up, so I don't have to go for that.

  7. My fiance and I are having a civil ceremony @ Majestic Elegance on June 29, 2011. (SUPER EXCITED!) My WC is Stephany and she is amazing. I email her at least once a day with all my questions and she is sooo good about getting back to me and making me relaxed. We are having our ceremony @ the gazebo ( I heard the beach ceremonies tend to draw a large- uninvited- crowd). We are doing the included dinner at Asadito. The semi-private dinner can only be held at one of 2 restaurants (Asadito- steak, or the Sea & See). I can email you the set menu's for Asadito and the Sea & See for the included dinners. I'm not using a travel agent. I've found that for group deals everyone would have to be on the exact same flights and booked for the same days at the hotel. I don't want to force travel arrangements on anyone, so I've suggested they look at Apple/Expedia ect for the best deal. The extra's seem soo expensive. I'm not sure what your budget is, so I would just weigh what I want with what I can afford. We are not paying that much money for food and drinks @ an all inclusive. I believe I will add the ceremony decoration package for $348. It includes chair sashes, isle runner, and vases with flowers to line the isle (then they move these to the dinner tables). What I'm working on right now is getting our passports. You have to have a lot of paperwork (single status affidavit) and it all has to be sent to the Dominican to be translated ($125 for bride, $125 for groom). The website www.wedo.com.do will help you with the paperwork. If you have the money, check out PhotoPhil for your photography. He lives in Canada and charges $1,000 plus travel arrangements. I could never afford this, but his website is AMAZING! The resort has a photographer/videographer that they exclusively use. They charge $300 to bring in an outside vendor. My cousin is a photographer for Hot Topic in LA and she will be taking our photos (undercover of course b/c I'm not paying $300 for my cousing to take our pics). We will probably use their videographer (charges $350 for the ceremony only). The symbolic ceremony is $500 cheaper than the legal ceremony (but you have to present your marraige certificate to do the symbolic) so you could save some money to splurge on extras! I hope you're having as much fun planning this as I am! Also check out http://picasaweb.google.com/weddingbymajesticresorts for some wedding pics! Happy Planning and feel free to contact me anytime! 8. We haven't decided on the chair sashes yet. I'm sure when it comes down to it I'll splurge and get them!
  9. Your pictures are beautiful! It looks like you had an amazing time. Thanks and Congrats!
  10. My fiance and I are excited about including the sand ceremony in our wedding. I understand that for a civil ceremony (what we are having) this would be after the judge leaves. My question is for brides who have included the sand ceremony or plan to: Whom did you have talk during this? I know the WC can do it but I would like for that part to be more personal (since the judge part won't be). My parents will both be there, but more than likely his will not be, so we don't want one of my parents to do it. My brother and his sister will both be there though and I was thinking of including them in this by having them both read something. What do couples usually do?!?! I'm also having a hard time finding a sealable vase that isn't a big heart, if anyone out there knows of any please fill me in with the details. Thanks in advance!
  11. This is soo exciting to read all of these posts! We are getting married June 29, 2011 at Majestic Elegance. We are having a civil ceremony at the gazebo location at 1:00pm. I'm worried about the heat this time of day. Anyone who got married in the summer around this time please let me know what your experience was! I'm also hearing a lot about how the WC you communicate with during your planning is not necessarily the same WC when you get to the resort. I'm just wondering if they all communicate with each other? Am I going to have to go over all the details again with someone new? Our ceremony like i said is at 1, do we have to wait after that until 6:30 to have dinner or is there an option to eat early (say 4). If not, what do people do with all the inbetween time? Also, we are having the dinner that's included in either the seafood or steakhouse and I'm wondering if there's enough space to cut the cake, do small toasts, ect. I know I'm full of questions, I'm just excited! Thanks for all your help ladies!
  12. For that small of a group I think you can do this on a very small budget! Many resorts offer free weddings. For larger wedding groups couples end up paying for a lot of extra's to accomodate for their guests; however, you could have a very intimate and beautiful wedding for the cost of taking a vacation. Most resorts do charge judge fee's for a civil (legal) ceremony, but you could get married in your hometown and have a symbolic ceremony in the DR and avoid these fee's (usually between $350-$650). I'm getting married June 29, 2011 at the Majestic Elegance. Right now on Expedia for me and my fiance we can stay in an Elegance Clug Jr. Suite for 7 nights for $2,508 and that includes flights! The wedding package there isn't free though. Check out some sites like that, or apple (although the same trip with apple is $3,100). There are many options for every budget and group size. Also, when you get your choices narrowed down to a few you should send the wedding coordinators at each resort an email so you can get a sense of whom will be most helpful to you and your family. Good luck and Congratulations!!!!!
  13. I would also love to get my hands on those menu's for both restaurants!!! My fiance and I are confirmed for June 29, 2011 @ ME. I emailed Stephany for the menu's yesterday, but you know how impatient us brides can be! lol my email is [email protected] Thanks ladies!!!
