  1. Well, I don't know anything about your relationship, but personally I would give him another chance... He said he didn't really mean it, and although it was a HORRIBLY bad joke, maybe you reacted a little to quickly. I think you should have spoke with him before you called everything off, I know that it had to be extremely devastating to read that email, but reacting while your upset doesn't make it much better...
  2. Nobody!?? Nobody used their salon? I really need to find out if it's going to be worth it to pay them or book elsewhere. HELP!!!
  3. Well, it will just be my fiance and I at the resort, so I'm pretty sure we're staying together the night before. The only thing I'm having trouble figuring out is our getting ready... I definitely don't want us to get ready in the same room and I don't want him to actually see me until the ceremony... This may get a little difficult...
  4. We used a travel agent to make all our arrangements. We told her which resorts we liked, she made some recommendations, she got us some price quotes and then we decided. But she contacted them regarding confirming our wedding date, and all three of us discussed everything together.
  5. Hi! I'm just wondering if anyone has had their hair & makeup done at the spa in The Royal Cancun...? Did you like/love it? If anyone has any pictures, I would loveeeee to see them. I was experimenting with doing my own makeup and it's not working out so well, so I'm wondering how good they are at the resort. If not, does anyone have suggestions for makeup artist in the Cancun area? HELP! PLEASEEE!!??
  6. We thought all of our immediate families were planning to come, but none of them made their reservations early enough and the resort sold out of the less expensive rooms. So it will be just my fiance and I and I am sooooo glad! It will be personal and intimate and so stress free.
  7. We're doing our TTD session the morning after, but our photographer said whatever day we wanted would be fine... It will only be the two of us so I don't think we'll be too tired in the morning to get up, but if you know your reception will be late and you think you won't want to get up, ask your photographer about doing it a few days later.
  8. My fiance and I are going to have a wedding with just the two of us... I say go with whatever resort you two really like, and most resorts have a complimentary wedding package when booking a certain room category. I'd say go with that because it'll usually just be the necessities anyway and you can add what you want. Good luck and congrats!
  9. I seen that as well. Idk how it will be, but I can imagine it was probably livelier when they had music... I guess we will soon find out huh....
  10. Did the WC actually tell you that you could use the credits for photography??? If you have it in writing/email, you should discuss that with her and ask that they honor what they'd previously told you because you made your decisions based on what the WC told you. My WC attempted to do the same to me, by telling me I had to pay a vendor fee for both my wedding and TTD photography even though before that new policy took place she'd told me if was PER VENDOR and not PER DAY. I say if your WC gave you the permission to use the resort credits, then they should honor it, speak to the management about it if there is a problem...
  11. Well air schedules should be out 9 months before your date. For deposits for our resort it was $150 per person and air had to be paid in full at the time of reservation. I didn't do a room block because we weren't planning to have a lot of guests, but now were not having any, so that would have been lots of money lost. If you tell your family your plans now and can give them an estimate of what it will cost, and when they need to make their deposits, you can avoid getting a room block and possibly better prices.
  12. I concur with the other posters, discuss it with a TA who is EXPERIENCED with destination weddings... Also, I recommend doing your own search because some travel agents may attempt to steer you towards a resort that they receive a benefit from. I know my TA (love her) but she tried to hard to get me to go with El Dorado resorts because of the incentives she would receive, but the cost was just ridiculous to me, especially because of the $800 outside vendor fee! First, think about what location you might really want to have your wedding. Think about what you really want in a resort, large or intimate, if you have any preferences for the room (mine was the in-suite jacuzzi and the shower), look at restaurant choices, if you want to be at a resort with children/or if you will leave right after your wedding to go to a different resort for your honeymoon, and definitely look at the options for wedding packages and think about how you envision your wedding being. You may be able to get resort prices for next April, just not air, and that could give you a pretty good estimate for guests. But most likely, 9 months before your wedding is when you'll be able to make your reservations for air & resort so I would jump on it at that point because prices do flucuate quite often. ummm, I can't think of anything else right now, but if you have a question feel free to ask.
  13. The Royal in Playa del Carmen! I am a little biased though lol. I am getting married at The Royal in Cancun, but I've heard that Royal PDC is awesome. It is all inclusive and adults only, and their sister hotel is Gran Porto Real PDC and it is family friendly. It really depends on what your interests, and budget are. Congrats! And good luck on your search!
  14. I'm getting married at The Royal June 10, 2011. I used destinationweddings.com to coordinate all my travel, and although we probably could have did it ourselves, we got a lot of additional benefits... Free dinner on the beach (which is $250), plus our TA is very helpful whenever we have questions about Mexico, tours/excursions, and she has resolved many communication errors between myself and the resort. We made our reservations about 8.5 months in advance, which was as soon as the air prices were released. And were staying in the Presidential Suite and doing the free wedding package. We're adding on what we want because it'll only be the two of us anyway. I advise you to do your research on their website, mostly everything you need to know is there. If you plan to use any outside vendors, they do have a $350 vendor fee, and apparently now that is per day, but when I made my reservations it was per vendor. (Our photographer will be there two days, one for the wedding and for the TTD the next day.) IDK, if you have any other questions you can message me! Good luck & congrats!
  15. Well, everybody in our families was not happy about us having a destination wedding... We heard every excuse - it costs to much, what if we dont want a vacation in Mexico, the whole family can't come, blah blah blah. I was a little disappointed at first when I found out that nobody was coming, but it's not about them. Family is important to us, but we are only marrying each other and what's important is that we're happy. So, if YOU and you Fiance are happy about having the wedding that you want, then don't let anybody guilt trip you!! If nobody comes, it'll still be romantic with just the two of you, and if they do than thats great!
  16. Our wedding is going to be at 1:00pm... I wanted it to be at 4:00 but this was the only time available for that day....
  17. Sorry your family wants to intrude on your special time!!! If they are dead set on going, let them! But tell them that under NO circumstances do you and your husband plan to spend time with them in Playa del Carmen. Just tell them exactly how you feel about it being your private time to celebrate together, hopefully they'll understand. And if they still plan to go, as long as they aren't staying at the same resort you'll probably be okay, just make sure you aren't doing any of the same excursions that they are. Good luck!
  18. KeraSmiley - I love the second dress too! It looks beautiful on you!
  19. Wow! I still have a bunch to do! Wedding bands, fiance's tux, music, reserve spa appt's, hair appt, and excursions... I haven't even began planning my AHR! Still getting my dress altered now... Makeup, hair trial... Ekkkk! I need to get busy....
