Ella - Have you checked cubavera.com for GM shirts? They seem to have a lot of colors and styles, so maybe you can find something on their site.
-
mimi - The dress looked amazing on you. peterpan - I'm so glad you finally found a dress you love (and a few extras.) The alterations on my first Monica Bridal dress should be done on Friday. I can't wait to see how it looks once it actually fits! Then I just have to work on a crinoline. I am having a second dress made by Monica Bridal, and I really hope it arrives before Christmas.

Teira - I think the stargazer would look really good.

Those are very cute. It's so nice to have someone that ships to Canada. I've had so much stuff delivered to my sister in Virginia for us to bring back at Christmas. Last year, FI brought E-ring across and I had no idea. This year we'll have a bunch of wedding stuff. Next year will probably be the baby stuff. Good thing my car has a huge trunk!

If money were no object, I would have quit my job to be at home planning our wedding instead of 2000 miles away from FI. We would be flying everyone down and I would have had a custom made dress by a designer. Maybe even find a resort or island that we could have all to ourselves.

LinenTableCloth.com CYBER MONDAY 50% sale
mochamakes3 replied to RocknRobin04's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
I'm going to add one thing that I sadly missed, you may qualify for free shipping if your order is over $50. -
If your dress exceeds the maximum carry on allowance they can "ask" you to check it. Most bridal shops are aware of the difficulties and can pack your dress to fit in a carry on bag. If you just have your dress in a garment bag and it is super big you might have trouble. Try to be among the first to board so that there might be more room to store your dress. I plan on having my dress steamed at the resort, so it will be packed into a tiny package for carry on.

It was me that mentioned the sale at MW. I told FI to check it out and to get suit sizes for at least him and his dad so we could order and check out the quality. We were going to order tuxedos because that's what FI wants to wear. When I asked again last night, I was reminded that I told him he could have until January 1st to decide. And then he figured he would be able to sweet talk me into waiting a few more weeks. It's almost lke no one understands that you can't wait until the week or even the month before and expect to get something decent! But like you other girls, hopefully some more summer stuff will be available before we leave. Lua, it's great to hear that you will have your whole family there. Sometimes they just need to be told what to do. I've decided that being nice and suggesting things isn't as effective as being Bridezilla. hehe. Ella, good luck finding the right purple. I was going to suggest studiosuits.com but it doesn't look like they carry too many dark shades.

Free First Aid travel kits!

You can still order them online from the link in the first post. -
Thanks nabreu7 - It's a little different because here in Canada you usually book through a tour operator for a price that includes flights & accommodations. MoH also didn't realize that our rates already included taxes which here in Canada can sometimes be more than your whole trip! I think she tried to book through our wedding coordinator at one point but because Palace resorts is so horrible at responding, she gave up and booked on her own. I did tell her last night that she might end up on the complete opposite end of the resort away from us all. She has known for over a year that we were planning this. I was going to surprise them with their dresses but not if she picks out a $400 dress! I didn't spend that much on my wedding gown. She's single but not traveling alone. She found a friend to travel with her, and we told her in the beginning that we would make sure she didn't have to pay too much. She keeps telling me how difficult it is to get things done while you're single. I've been single, I know. It's a whole lot easier than trying to arrange a destination wedding when you're not at home, fiance is 1000 miles away and you also have to arrange travel for his family and friends. Maybe I've been brainwashed by my previous BM experiences, but anytime I've been a BM and the bride requested an activity or dress, you just pay the price.

Teira, they are being delivered to my sister's house, but I will have her send me a picture that I can post once they arrive. I plan on tying them together so hopefully they will look good together.

I will try to negotiate with the membership coordinator. I already had a couple book as soon as they heard what date we were going, so it would be nice if they were also included in our group. I understand that our guests are spending a lot of money, that's why I've always had the attitude of "I know it's expensive, if you can't afford to attend, we understand." However, when I first asked her to be the MOH she said "No problem, I've been saving for this day and don't care how much it costs, I will be there for you." She has found a friend to travel with her and share a room, and from the beginning I have always said that we would find someone to share a room with her. I think I'm kind of upset that she had time to shop around for a deal on the resort but she won't make the time to try to find a dress. I'm trying to find dresses that will be affordable for all the BM's but she wants to spend between $300 and $400. I would rather she be in our group in the same section of the resort instead of wear a super expensive dress that isn't any better than something affordable.

Satin Chair Sashes on Sale!!

I would try calling them and asking them to honor the price since their website was not working. -
So I'm going to vent and then ask you girls what you suggest I do. First, we are Palace members, so when I have always been dreaming of a MP wedding since the first day I set eyes upon this resort. Second, as soon as we got engaged, I made a group booking using our membership rates so that we could take advantage of the group benefits. Third, as soon as I told my MOH that we had placed a group block she started comparison shopping online, and reporting back that she could find a better rate. Last night, I was talking to my MOH and asked if she had booked her trip. She told me, yes, with Signature vacations. I asked her why she didn't use the group booking, and she replied because it was cheaper. Umm.... thanks. Of course, she also tried to complain that is was so difficult to find someone who would spend $2K to join her. Sorry, you're single. I've been there. But if you refuse to even try to date, I can't help you. If you want to find a partner, it won't happen without you at least trying. So she saves $200 and we could end up spending another $4000 after having to pay for our private dinner and not qualifying for 7 comp nights. My question to you girls, is how do we get people to book with our group even though it could be more expensive than other deals that are available out there? Do you think MP would be able to find us better deals on flights to compensate? Can any other members provide a list of membership perks that might make our group booking more attractive? BTW we didn't use a TA because we are all traveling different dates from different cities.

What's something you saw at a wedding that made you swear...

Late last summer FI got a phone call from his best friend asking us to come home for the long weekend because he was getting married. Total surprise because we were told they were planning a big wedding for the next summer. But hey, no problem, we pack and go. The morning of the wedding, FI goes golfing with his BF and I spend it with MIL and FIL. When he gets back about an hour before the wedding, I find out that I can't go to the wedding. The bride only wants groom, best man and her MOH. No siblings, no parents, nothing. So I'm stuck again with MIL and FIL. Some friends were planning a bonfire so we decide to make that the "reception". I buy and decorate a cake, and we pick up some beer. Bride and groom show up for about an hour and then leave, because she doesn't want to hang out with his friends anymore?!? A week later, they moved across the country. Btw... the dinner consisted of parents meeting for the first time at a very casual Chinese restaurant for a quick dinner complete with 1970's decor. And the dinner party only consisted of bride, groom and the 4 parents.
