  1. Our TA told us that once we got the resort, other than purchasing gifts to bring home, we wouldn't need ANY cash... In fact, she said that there wasn't a need to even tip. Â Any of you going (or been) to Turks & Caicos (Beaches), did you tip? I have told our guests that tipping isn't necessary since our TA told us that. Â Your thoughts?
  2. NSBLUM: Where did you stay in Turks? I was going to make these as well, but we are at Beaches in Turks & Caicos and if that's where you stayed, I'm going to bag it. I thought someone had posted that Beaches has cards though.
  3. Here are mine.... I haven't put them on my chapsticks yet... but I ordered the weatherproof labels from onlinelabels.com (1.9" x 2.5"). I used their wizard online to create it with the wording and inserted a gaphic. Â Â Â Â Â Lip Balm.pdf
  4. I agree. If guests are going to the wedding, I have told them that that is enough - their being there is a good enough gift for us! As for the engagement party, I would probably take a gift. Not as elaborate as a wedding gift, but I wouldn't show up empty handed.
  5. Welcome, MellieG! We are also getting married at Beaches in Turks & Caicos. We have chosen May 2011. I agree - everyone is super on this website. Happy planning!
  6. Gotcha! I thought the Turquoise Deluxe Room was the standard room, then the Caicos Premium Room and then the Honeymoon Caicos Premium Room. This is all very confusing!
  7. Excellent information! Thanks, Ladies! Our confirmation says we have a "Honeymoon Caicos Premium King" room - not sure exactly what that means, do you? It's in the Carribean Village is all I know and our TA said this would include the BB wedding package and all fees.
  8. I just bought 50 on ebay for $5.99 - I'd say that's your best bet. I think I did a search on zipper badge holders.
  9. I agree with Sltrotter - tell them it was just intended to be an intimate nuptial exchange for immediate family members only. Ugh... this is a tough one. Are you having a reception at home after you return from your DW? Maybe you could tell them that although the vow exchange is just for immediate family, you hope to see them at the reception when you return and will share lots of photos and the video with them. ??
  10. This is wedding #2 for me. The things I kept from my first wedding were video, pictures, ring-carrier's pillow, unity candle, champagne goblets, copy of the program and our invitations. My daughter has looked through the stuff several times and enjoyed doing so - I also have my dress and veil from my first wedding which my 14-year old says is "out of style" now -- so no chance of her wearing it, I guses. So I'd say just keep the stuff that is really sentimental to you -- or you could see your kids using one day.
  11. I agree with the ladies who say you can do whatever you want. That's the beauty of a destination wedding! We aren't planning on doing a "welcome" dinner or reception, however, we are going to have a semi-casual rehearsal dinner (hopefully outside on a deck or by a pool somewhere at the resort) and then we are having a private reception after the wedding. We are considering doing a catamaran cruise for our guests, but haven't decided for sure. Most of our guests are taking this as a family vacation as well as our wedding, so we didn't want to plan so much that they couldn't do the things they want to do.
  12. We aren't going to have anything back home. We invited all of our family and close friends - we told them all that there is no pressure to go, but we'd love to have them there with us. We have about 25 going at this point. This is both of our second wedding and we wanted to make it as simple as possible - we have concerns that throwing a party or reception back home would take the "simple-ness" away from what our intent was by going away and letting all the work up to the resort. If this was our first weddings, I would probably want a reception back home as well, though.
  13. We're doing the BB package. I think we're going to bring fans and I'll have a friend or family member put them on all the chairs at the wedding, and then I have small favors each place-setting at the reception. Soooo many brides say that everything around you at the resort is so beautiful you won't need much as far as decorations at all... I'd just bring a few things to personalize it a little.
