We are departing on Sept. 10 and we have asked to rsvp by July 1. So just a little over two months. We understand that some may book even closer to time, but at least to have an idea. This will help us with oot bags etc.

Darn, typed about half a page, and then had to look something up and here I am typing the same messag again LOL Hutchets - she sent it to me early Feb. so it is pretty 'fresh' I'm hoping that we can rent the system (don't care about the cost for this!) It is a MUST. That's funny - they give you tiki torches but they don't use them LOL. I'm sure everything has a $ and it's usable again. With regards to the 'optional extra's". It says $10.50 for addtional person. Does this mean that when I exceed the number of people in my package i.e 15, I have to pay extra for each addtional person if I want them to eat dinner with us and be part of our ceremony? Hidden 'extra's' are just creeping up

I think that's something I'll have to look into. We have a very good BM so he may 'argue' the system out for us, but I rather have a station with us. Thanks for the advice.

Well, this SUCKS that they do not offer the system rental anymore. What is the point of the party reception then. With the docking station (from what I've read in the past) the music will be too quiet. I wonder if there is a way of convincing them to do that! I mean they have it on site, why can't they rent the thing out!

Did she actually tell you that they include the tiki torches? When did you get an email from her? when I asked (exactly same question) she said that they don't offer the tiki torches any more due to discreprencies ...

I'm glad this thread was started. And thank you for posting the free flower photos. I'm glad I actually like them and don't have to pay the ridicouls $ to get an upgrade. Anyways.. I'm trying to figure out how to attach photos. Keisha sent me pics and menu for 2011 of what is FREE in all the packages.

Hi Girls , I've researched the forum and couldn't find any info on these. We are not doing a typical OOT Bag. Instead of out of town items, we are doing a more of a thank you welcome bag. So we decided that all the guys (among other things) will get a hat with Jamaica on it, and for girls I wanted to get sarongs (beach wraps). The only problem is that I am unable to find any in the stores or malls. I found one store but they were at $20 CAD per one. Having to buy 20, it's a bit much $ to spend. Does anyone know a place in either Southern Ontario, Buffalo or Grove City PA where I could get them a bit cheaper. I know I got them before in FL for a cheap, but that's a bit too far to drive from Toronto The ones I found on the web are pricey too. I'm hoping not to spend more then $5-$10 a piece. Thanks in advance.

I don't get it, really. It's so weird that the contract we receive from RIU wedding says $200 and then a week later it's changed by the WC to $350. I'm using an outside photographer, and I willd definately bring this up with them. $150 is $150 that I can use to send my parents on an excursion.

Sorry, but I must agree with all the ladies. It does sound a bit rude, or a bit pushy. We all know how you feel as most of us went or are going through it. We have set up a website on which I have provided all details and then once a week a do an update. If there are particular people I want to come, I've already talked to them; they know all the details. You can't really make people rsvp, especially for a DW. This is the harsh part of DW. Keep in mind that a lot of people will wait till last minute to book hoping they'll get a 'last minute' sell out. Some of my invited guests have told me they might 'surprise' us and just show up. I've included a note about element of surprise for a wedding on my website. Politely saying that I have to notify the resort's WC about number of people for my wedding etc etc. (I'm not a fan of surprises for something I'm putting a lot of effort planning). Don't stress over the RSVP. When people are ready to book they will. Some people will not even tell you they are not coming. My wedding is in Sept. I sent out the invites in January. I didn't even bother with RSVP cards (I thought it was a huge waste of money and stamps). Since I did passport invites, I dedicated a whole page to Reservations and RSVP. Asked to be notified by phone, email, via website or in person by July 1st if they are coming. Gave my self 2 months to order more favours etc.

When we decided on DW, we knew the risks we're taking with regards to our guests coming and/or backing out last minute. Sometimes people won't admit they will not go because of $ issues so they will give you another excuse. I know, that it is hard on us the brides (one of my BF is not coming cause she accidently got pregnant, and I am very uncertain about my MOH who says she's coming but I'll believe it when she has paid her ticket). In the beginning I was heart broken about the comments etc, but then we KNEW that it's going to be pricey and some of close friends may not come for one reason or another. I know that it's hurtful to be in such situations, but i think you have to get past it. You can't make people go and if they cannot or do not want to be part of your special day that is their loss. Remember, you are getting married to you man, not your friends

You're not crazy.. well... we're all a bit crazy . I don't think it's fair, but did you guys discuss the payment with BIL before actually putting donw the money for them? I think a lot of things happen because of miscommunication. Perhaps the reason they couldn't go is because they wanted to buy a house? By no means I'm taking their side, just asking. I know that if you get your FI to appraoch them now, they can easily say: we didn't ask you to etc. Tough situtation...

I actually love this idea. .. but I would do it little different. I would present a flower to my Mother in Law and he would present it to my mom. Find the right wording to thank our mothers for having us so that we are now united as one etc.. . (In my culture you call your mother in law Mom after the wedding). hope this makes sense..

Hate to be a party pooper, but I don't think any medicine is a good oot bag insert. I think you should have a big bottle of advil or something, and if someone has a head ache, offer one. Looking at it from Medical field view, you're not a doctor, so you shouldn't be dispensing meds Generic or brand name..

I'm doing hats for the guys (off vista print) with Jamaica on it. Not sure what the girls will get yet.

The contract I got from Riu weddings says $200, when I got an email from the WC, the sheet said $350 for a photographer. But if the photographer is an actual guest at your wedding (part of your group), I don't think they can charge you a fee. It's like telling my dad he cant take pics ... I'm going to try and argue the $150 difference as in the contract from Riu Weddings, this fee wasn't subject to change.

I got mine at Aldo.. pretty comfy only $6 CAD

I meant to write an update the other day. 1st - to answer blondy: Oh.. it was clear, but you wouldn't think that within 3 days there is NO seats available for low season travel 2nd - to answer Marelan: only Sunquest offers our resort Now - as I suspected, our flights got changed. Sunquest no longer offers our original dates, so we are departing 2 days earlier. This is why there was no seats available when we tried to put money down because Sunquest pulled their flights on our original dates. I hardly every cry or let thing out of my control get to me... well, I cried.. Not because we are departing earlier, or that we have to leave on Saturday (our wedding is on Thursday)... but because I'm going to look like a lobster in a white box LOL .. but I came to terms when my FI said that we are going in Sept. and I will already have a tan... it's not winter when I go pale as a snowman. I just only hope they will not change the dates any more as I cannot change my date with the hotel.

So, some of you that will read this will think I am totally wacko because I have only discovered this now... I hardly wear high heel shoes, theonly ones I wear with a heel are boots. I'm attending a wedding next week, and must of bought about 3-4 pairs of shoes....well - none would stay on my foot. Practiced walking in them to get a better hang of the high heel walking trade. Nope, nothing; they keep going off my heel like a flipping flip flop LOL ... So today, I'm back at the store and I say to the guy...what's the matter with your shoes? They just won't stay on.. so he says: Lady... do you wear sneakers most of the time? I say " yes". So he takes out these foam inserts and says; put this in, and you're supermodel on the runway.... $5 and problem solved. Now, he couldn't tell me this before I spent $200 on shoes at his store or what???? I have always loved high heels but was never to walk in those pretty ones.... NOW - I have 4 pairs of brand new shoes and I'm going to wear the heck out of them The only person I feel sorry for now is my FI... He is going to have to make space in the closet for all the shoes I'll be buying.. I simply cannot believe it took me all these years to find these miracle foam inserts:)
