  1. Hi Tammy, After a few months with the updated site, I think this works much better. Thank you. Now I can easily find my way around and no need for reposting questions. Thank you for the site.
  2. looking at the cakes just made me want desert before lunch ... they are all so pretty.
  3. Ladies... the flowers posted above as part of the package, these are the ONLY flowers? Or are there several options you can choose from (before resorting to an outside vendor). It just seems that paying about $120 for a bouquet (the average price on the forum) is absolutely a lot. If someone has pictures of the options that would be great. Or direct me to a forum link that has them. Most appreciated.
  4. Ladies... I'm so confused now which chair is which . Can someone post pictures of each kind of chair and say: Free, white upgrade, brown upgrade.. that would be so awesome. Thanks.
  5. I haven't used them, but we will be using them for our wedding. I know they are on the higher end, but we will be taking them for the ceremony, some pics after, and TTD session. You can use their associates, which are cheaper and their work is still good. You can contact Micheal and he'll give you rates pretty quick.
  6. To Jamaican_smile; beautiful pictures  I have a questions, when you guys do the reception (book it), and get a DJ, how does this go? Will the DJ kind of say; First dance etc, etc. Or do you kind of need to lead the way? Although, we are having a DW, I still want to keep a bit of the tradition; first dance, parents dance, the buquet throw etc. When you rent the restuarant for a private reception, and you get a dj, do you have the space in the restaurant to dance it up?  We will be def. getting the package, as we are expecting about 20-25 people. Dinner, some dancing, and then we can even hang out at the bar and party it up more :-) Then again - we will have the remainder of the trip to party it up :-)  Thank you in advance!
  7. They are very beautiful. I must admit that I envy you (and any other brides) for taking the time and create from scratch. I personally have no patience when it comes to creating 'crafty' things on my own. Good for you. It all looks awesome
  8. The weight allowance really depends on the airline. Be sure to check your ticket etc as well (even after you check with the agent/airline). Sometimes when a plane does a double pick up (ie. when we went to Cuba from Toronto we were allowed 2x20kg bag + 5kg carry on, but people traveling on the same plane from Montreal only had 1x20kg bag + carry on). You can always pre-arrange extra luggage, this way it will definately cost you less. Make sure you do it for return as well - never know about the gifts, souvenirs etc).

I'm not going to do sunscreen beacuse I figure everyone will have their own, but I am going to do aloe and bug spray wipes. Did you find the bugs bad there? Thanks. No, we are going to order full bottles of tanning oil and full bottles of after sun lotion. and samples of sunscreen. We have travelled on several occasions with friends, and trust me there is always someone who forgets a bottle, or just simply looses it. Might as well give them something they will use.
  10. Having been to Jamaica just recently, I have to say that buying any gifts at the resort shop will cost an arm and a leg. If you can, step outside the hotel/resort and get the gifts. You can usually bargain with the store clerks for a discount if you're buying more. For example, we bought 1kg coffee at the resort for US $30, and at the store, for US $15. What we will do is order from Hawaiian Tropics/Banana Boat sun tanning oil and after sun lotion plus a little sample of protection. We're getting cheap string bags, and inprinting Jamaica plus our wedding date on it. We are planning to have these in the rooms on the first night. Then sometime before the wedding we'll go out to the market and purchase little coffee bags. At home, I'll make little notes with our names and date of wedding and attach it. The staff will put these on the beds at turndown service on the night of the wedding. (when you talk to your coordinator, ask about little Jamaican things. She may want to cut a deal with you through outside resort friends etc - it's worth asking).
  11. A: I would. Marriage license is not that much. As long as my parents and siblings show up - we can even have dinner at my mom's house (I'm not cooking on my wedding LOL) Q: if your wedding cake fell on the floor right when you walk in, would you have a fit, or just go with the flow?
  12. First- Congrats! You looked absolutely lovely :-) Great review! This puts me back at square one! We thought we decided on Riu Triopical Bay.. but now looking at your pics and review.. hmmmmm.. Would you be able to tell me one thing; with regards to the beach/water. Is it really men made?
  13. like --- yummy! jerk chicken!
  14. I'm working with Sarah on my save the dates - I have no complaints! She's great and quick. After I ordered I came here (figured she will be on this site!) to see other completed invites. They all look excellent. Can't wait to get them and hopefully figure out how to share it with you. ps I didn't realize the lady was posting on multiple threads! I see your point now :-).. I probably should look around before opening my yup :-) I hope the bridezilla wasn't meant at me :-(
  15. reading responses to Kates 2425 comment, i hesitated to post.. but what the heck. I find it hard to believe that you ladies went at her so quickly. I my self have also recently ordered save the dates from Sarah. I know that 8 days is not a long time, however, it's nice to hear back from the person (this is in my case) that the order has been received as the only confirmation you get is from paypal. Please don't be quick to judge others, or automatically assume they are accusing. As always, when ordering from the internet, one must wonder. I pop by here to read advice etc and post occasionally. And today, I did come to look for Sarah and posts about her services. It's not that I'm in a hurry (that's why haven't been chasing by email).
  16. As a fellow Canadian, I fully understand your feeling about Air Canada. I have never personally flew with WJ, but heard all good things about it. My only suggestion is that Air Canada is more reliable when it comes to "in case" situations. An I find it is easier to actually speak with AC rep when you're on ground. WJ you can be on hold for 45 mins!! I would suggest that your agent puts the flights on hold (if it's not a seat sale, they usually give you a few weeks to pay the deposit). WJ should have their flights out 11 months prior to travel. Have your agent speak with WJ and tell them the situation and they will try to get you the prices and flight allocation even sooner. That is all that I can suggest. Hope that helps a bit!
  17. that's easy - CHOCOLATE!!! :-)))))) What is one pet peeve you have about your hubby to be?
  18. That is horrible. I fully understand what you are going through. We are planning a wedding for 20 people. NO more. However, my mom starting asking me what about him/her etc. I was straight forward and said that the wedding is for US not for THEM. She suggested she would pay for additional people (gifts, dinner etc). But that's not the point. :-).. Chin up hun. My suggestion is to be straight forward and say as it is to each person who asks. The only thing you have to face is the chatter after. You can't win.. Good luck!
  19. does walking up and down the stairs since the elevator is not working count?? Just kidding, I will later on! Down 25lbs since last June... another 25lb and I might just look better than a hollywood bride LOL
  20. Congrats. I'm sure you will love the resort. We stayed there on holidays, and enjoyed our visit. The staff were great. The drinks were awesome and the beach wasn't bad. They were just opening the 2nd phase (Suites?) when we were there, and there was lots of big shots running around. I found the staff (not management) to be simply outstanding. The hotel rooms were nice and specious. You'll have a blast!
  21. thank you everyone for the warm welcome. Conosur.. why we chose Jamaica? Well, because I love the place! However, the main reason was the fact that the ceremony is done in english. We have considered Mexico (rivera maya), but with the regulations, it just wasn't for us, and we don't want the cordinator translating for us, I want to understand what the judge/minister is saying to me :-)
  22. Hello.. As a newbie, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Magda My wedding date is Sept. 10, 2011 Wedding destionation: Riu Palace Tropical Bay, Negril, Jamaica When we got engaged 5 years back, we have set the date. As I wanted to get married on the same date as my grandparents, we had to wait 6 years for Sat. Sept 10.
