  2. Yeah.. I don't get why there won't be a rose ceremony next week.. hmmm - why do we have to wait one whole week??
  3. I feel your pain.. I also work two jobs - I work 8-4:30 M-F and then a few hours every weekday evening as well as on Sundays.. luckily my second job is very slack but my first job is running me ragged! We moved into a brand new house last February so we both started second jobs to pay off some debt and to help with the wedding planning etc. (we've been engaged for almost 2 years and neglected to save any money!!) and it's only going to get harder the closer we get to our wedding date, but in 8 months 2 weeks and 4 days it will all be worth it Just keep your head up and your eye on the prize... everyday is another day closer!!!
  4. I LOVE THE FIRST DRESS! That looks like it was made for you - the back is stunning as well I just read some of the above comments about how the back nobody see's in photo's but everyone witnessing your ceremony will be seeing you from behind - just another thought!!
  5. Wow, Awesome Job!!! I'm looking for envelopes like this but in a magenta or aqua color - were these size 10 open ended envelopes? I might have to check out Jam paper for these - thanks
  6. Well the other day I was on the computer looking at my dress.. and put my laptop down when my Fiance came into the room and looked at the screen, seeing my dress (just the picture on the website - not one of me in it!).. of course I freaked out but that's just me - He swears he doesn't know what he seen, and I don't think he could pick it out of a group of pictures if I showed him.. but it kind of disappoints me that he somewhat seen the dress. Ah well - I guess this is pretty much THE only traditional thing that we are doing, so I really don't want him to see me in it before the big day but to each their own it's your wedding day do whatever's right for you!!
  7. Wowza.. this show never ceases to amaze me.
  8. AMBER - Beautiful dress - very flowy - that will probably be sooo nice and cool on the beach

I will for sure post pictures and write a review/give all the brides after me some insight into DRC as well as answer any questions you guys have - even though my wedding is 8 months away.. I just hope others before me will do the same!!!

I would ask her again and see what response she tells you. I wanted to give all our friends and fam a year's notice and also give us time to save up, so it made sense for us. Now I guess I just sit around and only plan a few little things until like a year from now. That does not sound so bad to me! I am grateful to everyone on this thread for helping me get a sense of this place and the packages and whatnot. If anyone new has any questions about basics I am glad to answer them. Happy Weddings, all! As far as the flowers go - I have been told that fake rose petals etc. are just not allowed to be left on the beach - as far as I know you are allowed to have your fake floral bouquets on the beach as long as you take them with you and don't leave them behind as this constitutes littering if you leave them behind! lcraney - Welcome and congrats on the wedding planning! It will go by soooo fast you don't even know!! My FI and I got engaged in May 2008 almost 2.5 years engaged by the time we get married.. and so far time has flown by so fast.. and I know that the next 8 months are going to go even quicker! Your date will be here before you know it!!!
  11. WOW! I would have been just as upset if I was you - hopefully they'll rectify the situation asap and be able to alter your dress so it fits you like a glove! Good luck and keep us posted
  12. Laura! I love your invitations - very very nice!!! We aren't sending out STD's either - I think we will just send out an invitation that will double as the STD - i'm trying to get them out asap.. most of our friends and family already know our plans so really why not send things out so they can book right away?

My destination wedding specialist (DWS) lives in New Jersey and I live in Halifax, NS, Canada. She gets back to me right away with any questions, calls vs. emails so we get to know each other, and she was able to get my date confirmed with the wedding coordinator at Dreams Cancun in 2 days!! I've read many brides on here getting married at Dreams Cancun commenting that while Claudia (Wedding Coordinator) does a great job she is very hard to reach and it is a frustrating process. I don't have to deal with any of that because my DWS handles all that for me. They take care of the travel for you, work with the wedding coordinator, book all your guests travel, and they have an emerg 24/7 number in case anything goes wrong. I feel so comfortable knowing that if something goes wrong with a guests flight, room, etc. they deal with it and not me. :-) You ask the questions and tell them what you want and they do what they can to make it happen. They pick someone for you that has done weddings at the resort you choose. If you don't like the person they pair you with you can request someone else. They know how to get deals on travel and bargain with the wedding coordinators. You ask them questions and tell them what you want and they do their best to make it happen for you. It is amazing!!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND doing this. It's only $50 so you really have nothing to lose. :-) I am also using DestinationWeddings.com and so far have had zero complaints - abbie it sounds like we have the same TA - is her name Joan by chance? My TA is also through New Jersey, she is very prompt and I have no complaints about her whatsoever, She told me she mostly works with Canadian brides. I think with anything - depending on who you are paired with that's who is going to make or break your experience. Luckily I was paired with a wonderful TA from destinationweddings.com and have absolutely no complaints..
  14. Very Nice - I might have to check these out for my bridesmaids

  16. I say go with what you want.. it's what your going to have to wear for the rest of your life unless of course you upgrade or change your mind later on down the road.. but if you feel most comfortable with the plain band then go with what your gut is telling you.. although if it was me - I'd be picking the diamonds haha

Then at DRC we wanted to have the reception at the deck, and it worked out because the bride who snuck in there before me is having her reception right on the beach - I just hope that Ana separates the two of us sufficiently - can you only imagine with the music, etc? I will trust that they know what they are doing. Yeah hopefully everything works out, I know I'm the only bride at the moment for October 19 at DRC but I'm sure that will change prior to when the actual thing happens - I'm still torn on which I would like though.. hmm I'm sure Ana will seperate you guys quite well otherwise it could turn into two parties in one.. which wouldn't be fun. Can I ask - howcome your ceremony is at the Secrets Maroma?
  18. Thanks for posting the thread page numbers for me Boo - I had seen this pictures once before and for the life of me could not find where the pictures were.. When do you have to decide where you want the reception to take place?
  19. This is true, I'm glad I stumbled across this website - I think I was reading someone's blog and they mentioned how they had found the most helpful site on earth when it comes destination weddings.. so of course I had to click on the link.. and it was BDW! A facebook Page would be awesome.. hmm
  20. Thanks - I was beginning to think my internet was losing it..
