TORONTO *APRIL* MEETUP - Pickle Barrel Grande Yonge & Eglinton
bikegirl replied to bikegirl's topic in BDW Get Togethers
Sounds like there were at least two new attendees! Sorry I missed you ladies! I will definitely try to come to the next one. Sarah or anyone else, you want to head it up? If not, I don't mind organizing again. I have a restaurant suggestion for next time since many of us are watching our weight. There is a restaurant chain (3 locations) called Fresh. It started out as a juice bar so they still make that but they are well known for their salads, wraps, and rice bowls where everything is made with nutritious and healthy items like veggies, tofu, brown rice, nuts, etc. The 3 locations are all downtown, though - Here's a link to their menu: http://www.freshrestaurants.ca/pdf/takeaway.pdf What do you girls think? -
^ That's a great idea! I was going to bring flats and fashion sneakers but now that you mention it, I may go buy a pair of Skecher's Shapeups or those Reebok Easytones. Even if they are not as effective as the ads claim, it would be better than nothing! Too bad I missed the Friday meetup with you ladies but I will definitely come next meet up! Actually, I'm going to post a restaurant suggestion in the Toronto meetup thread after this.

Wow, you ladies are doing really well!! I only exercised twice last week at the gym doing LesMills BodyCombat and BodyPump Monday and Wednesday night but seriously, I needed the rest of the week to recover, I was that sore! I was really bad on the weekend. I had Chinese food (high carbs, lots oil & sodium, etc.) and pizza. I leave for China this Saturday with my FI for two weeks and I'm a little stressed about that. I have never come back with less than 5 extra pounds and that's a lot for me as I am a petite Asian female. I'm going for BodyCombat class again tonight and BodyPump on Wednesday. I also plan to go for a walk or bike ride on Tuesday night. I have P90X at home but I find it soooo hard to motivate myself! Plus, we have a one bedroom apartment and almost no space.

Thanks for sharing, girls! These stories are just way too funny!

I like this idea. On a few other forums I'm on, after a certain number of pages, we start a new thread (sometimes entitled Version 2.0, 3.0, etc.) so it's easier to sort through. Maybe a mod can even indicate the to-from date of posts in the previous thread and put that in the title (if not too much trouble)? For example "Excellence Punta Cana - 1/1/2008-4/25/2010. Will make everything very organized.

My OOT Bags

Your OOT bags look great! -
Hey girls, got some quotes from a TA. Still awaiting quote from Weddings by Oceans. Want to go with them as they have more experience than a regular TA but they're a little less responsive. Anyhooo. For week of May 8th, 2011 Majestic Elegance - $1262CDN + tax (not sure..probably $300-350) Paradisus Punta Cana - $1278CDN + tax ($329) Excellence Punta Cana - $1449CDN + tax (not sure) Still awaiting a quote for Dreams Palm Beach. They're higher than I want, I'm thinking $1500 ALL IN absolutely max so Excellence is off my list now. Would love to go with Paradisus but their wedding packages are very expensive...

Renée, do we still have under Sat noon to send you pics like we did for the beginning photo? I'm out tonight and probably won't be home until after midnight. :/

Just by reading the threads for the 4 resorts I'm considering, it seems sometimes they charge, sometimes they don't for a lot of the "extras". So best to avoid headache by having proof with you. -

If convenience is what you are looking for, try looking for the steamfresh type meals in the frozen food section of the grocery store. They are so much better for you and only take a few minutes to heat. I find my struggle is not so much because it's fast but because it's tasty! Fast food is the ultimate comfort food! Some people would disagree and say that fresh, expensive ingredients are tastier but I guess I have cheap tastebuds. Lol!!

I was sorta bad today. We had Kelsey's for lunch. I did get the broccoli cheddar soup rather than fries (although it's pretty creamy!) and no buns with the buffalo chicken sandwich. We also bought groceries and I made sure not to buy any high carb items for myself. Was so tempted to buy the tubs of ice cream down to $2 from $6!! But FI was actually the one who said no. Phew! It's so much easier to be healthy during the work week for me. I eat breakfast at home by myself (FI leaves earlier) then pack a lunch. On the weekends though....I'm SOOO lazy and we usually eat out or order in. :/

That being said, my FH is truly the most caring / giving person in the world, but after our talk I did get the impression that he spent more effort on the football draft at the time then picking out the ring. I can see inclussions on the side quite easily, maybe its one of those things that once you see it, you always do, sigh, and he said he had no idea what that was. Kinda dissapointing because it made me feel like he had chosen a ring without much thought, I could be totally off base, it has been 6 months but to not remember what you went for just 6 months later is very dissapointing. I'm sorry to say this, but I find this post a little sad. Just because he doesn't know what an inclusion is or what the 4 C's are, doesn't mean he didn't put effort into it. And heck, what would you qualify as 'effort'? Some people put a lot of research into things, others don't. I don't think that necessarily means he didn't care enough about this thing that is obviously important to you. He may just not have realized YOU cared so much about the specs of the ring. He may have thought you wanted karat over cut, or color, etc. Did you tell him about your feelings? About feeling like he put less effort into it than some of the other things he is interested in? Perhaps he can explain. I know you probably feel pretty disappointed right now but please think of how he must feel, too. He just spend a huge sum of money on a tiny little item not for himself and of purely decorative purpose (it can't drive you places, it can't ease your chores, etc!) and to then realize the person he gave it to isn't happy with it? I would be heartbroken. Fair enough, some guys may not care at all. But don't think about what you don't have. It's not a game you can win, IMO. Again, I don't mean to be rude so sorry if I come off as such.

Has Anyone Used Weddings by Oceans?
bikegirl replied to drbride83's topic in Destination Wedding Vendors
^ Hi kwysocki, thanks for the review! I am starting to work with Ashley, too. Actually, on recommendation from another Toronto bride, Oryx. She told me 7-10 business days for a quote so I'm glad you verified that as I'm just so used to instant quotes online! Can you tell me when your wedding date is and where? Just curious how far in advance you booked. Thanks!
