I am getting married Jan 19th as well, at the Palace JUST booked our trip today, so excited
  2. question for you ladies those of you having an at home reception (AHR) , are you sending out a save the date for it? I am getting married in January 2011 in Mexico- only a few close family/friends are attending, and then we are having an at home reception upon our return. I feel if I just send a reception invite out a few months in advance...many people will be like "wait, where's the wedding?" and may be confused! If anyone knows the etiquette on this..please, fill me in
  3. Hi Everyone..I"m strongly considering the coconut package, I have about 12 people coming including us..anyone have any experiences with that one?
  4. I completely want us to sleep separately!! we bought a house like 2yrs ago, so I totally want the semi-separation-anxiety bit when he sees me. I feel it may add a bit more to the whole 'wedding' theme. I mean come on, we're all doing a 'destination wedding', so not a typical wedding most would expect.........but, I cannot WAIT to see his face when I walk down the isle, and for him to see me for the first time in like...30hrs? when he's used to seeing me EVERY am..... seems silly, but I want it so much!!

  6. We will be just over 4 yrs when we get married..we got engaged right around our 3yr anniversary Engagement story: Christmas Eve, in front of the fireplace, just the two of us.

Then pictures, not sure how long that takes. I think I"m going with the coconut package too, and my guests (only about 8-10 people) will be just fine with entertaining themselves at the bar /beach until dinner.
  8. Hi All....I'm excited , we just chose/booked a date for our at home reception! finally something is taking place....this waiting to book the trip is driving me NUTS. I just talked to Apple Vacations, the guy told me he should have rates for my resort in 1-2weeks...so, lets hope thats the truth

Needless to say, after I informed her I still had the emails with the quotes, she told me she would make sure it was the same price as quoted before. Wow ok thanks. Also, the coconut package says its limited to I think 11am, 12, and 1pm....is that also flexable? I would love the coconut package at like....4pm or 3, I'd be ok with that. What time did you end up with

I think I may try spray tan as well....I burn in 2 seconds so I give up on tanning!
  11. Hi All!! Ok, sorta switching the topics here How about packages? what packages are you all going with? I'm still undecided. I am doing the 'legal' paperwork here at home so I wont be needing to pay for all the legality stuff for the ceremony. Therefore, I'm considering the Coconut Packages, which is stated as 'free' as long as you book 25 room nights, which is easy with 12+ people Has anyone heard of taking such a package like the Coconut, and adding something to it? changing it at all? I asked Victoria and she pretty much said you cannot change anything. I find this hard to believe. Anyways, just looking to see what everyone has heard from the resort on these packages. Thanks!
  12. Haha you are funny I too find myself in the 'ok do I REALLY need that?" mind frame..its fun to look though! Happy Wedding planning!
  13. Hello Ladies Great thread, I am getting married January 20th at the Barcelo Maya Palace , Riviera Maya. So far, all I have done is ordered my dress, and reserved the date at the Palace. I am just starting to work with the location I have chosen for my at home reception. I too am waiting anxiously for rates ...I dont want to shock my guests either with 2K+ for a week!! I told them I was hoping for no more than 1500 for them to pay ..So we will see.
  14. Hi Everyone, I ordered from House of Brides.com....and WOW its taking SOOO long, I am going to have to call and complain. I ordered early February..and JUST heard that the shipping 'estimate' is July!! why does it take THAT long?? doesnt seem right. anyone else had trouble with houseofbrides?

I asked my coordinator at the Barcelo the same question, and she 'suggested' that everyone stay at the same resort. The reason was that bascially, the Palace has top shelf drinks/etc and if there are some guests that are booked at the other resorts(maya beach, colonial, etc), they cant be served the 'top shelf' stuff. From what I see, does anyone REALLY care about not having the top shelf stuff for one evening I'm still going to offer my guests the lower levels if its cheeper for them. Also, my soon-to-be brother in law JUST got back from a vacation at the Colonial, and he walked all over the Palace and took pictures for me. you can get into the palace and stuff, but I think that if they notice that your wrist band is a different color and you try going to the bar, you just may be told you cannot order
  17. Wow that you so much for all that Info Yester!! It is so nice to see so much detail like that, that is the stuff we all need to know
  18. Is anyone having their guests stay at the caribe/beach/etc, while you and your fiance are staying at the Palace? I asked my WC at the Palace (Victoria) and she said its best that everyone book with the Palace, something about how the Palace has top shelf drinks/etc? If thats the case, I could just have the wedding/reception at the Caribe or something, and still just have a room at the palace
  19. Hi Michelle. you and I are in the same boat with waiting! I feel better thought that some of you on here said you simply re-reserved the date if need be. I'm just anxious to get stuff BOOKED

We didnt actually have to do that, as well booked just within two months, but did tell us that. hope that helps! Hello! I think I will end up doing this- just 're-reserving' if need be, I mean its the same thing to do that, than to cancel and have someone else reserve haha. Thanks everyone!
