  1. Sammysgirl- do you have a link or pic of your bridesmaid dress?? I'm also going to order the custom suit from there too! Well that is if I can convince him to wear a suit. He has huge sholders and a smaller waist (well compared to his shoulders anyway) so trying to find a suit that fits is impossible!
  2. Nicyx, We chose the Gazebo, I really imagined getting married on the beach, but i changed my mind over time. I like it b/c it is a little more private. I wish I had taken pictures of that stuff when i was there, but i wasn't even engaged yet. No problem if you have any other questions please feel free to ask! Dana
  3. Nicyx, I don't have any pictures of the other two locations, but since I stayed here last year i can give you some insight. The beach, it's great....if this is what you dreamed of go with it. Basically they "rope" off a section of the beach and put chairs there and whatever decorations you decided on. The con (in my opinion), it's a long walk from hotel room to the beach through the pool area and at the hotel you can be topless so I saw several topless women standing and watching the wedding. I'm sure the photographer can photoshop them out anyway, I just thought it was a little weird. As for the kiosk, I would say don't even consider it. When you walk out of the lobby they have almost like a "stage" with a pretty iron railings and a roof. They us this at night for entertainment during the cocktails. It's very nice, but right in the middle of the resort. Not private at all. I know most people pick the gazebo b/c it is the most private. If you're dreaming of the beach wedding then go for it b/c they were gorgeous when we saw them! Let me know if you have other questions?/
  4. I know I can't control it. I'm just nervous that about the 80% rule b/c I have no idea how many people are going to come at this point. It's good to hear you all are having people stay at different places too!
  5. Well I got my first annoying call today. My friend and her husband want to book a room at one of the "cheaper" riu hotels. I tried to explain it, but not sure if I got through. When I mentioned Riu Tequila was more of the party hotel he said well you know she will want to stay there then. Talk about put my foot in my mouth, the best part is she doesn't drink....lol. Oh well, right?
  6. I don't think I am doing formal invites (not a final decision yet). I wanted to know who had the intentions of coming and not because we invited over 150 people. I think once find out who is coming we are just going to do the passport type invite with all the information needed for travel and then a luggage tag.
  7. Thank you so much to everyone and there wonderful ideas. I have to credit my sister the great designing. I had the hard part of cutting out and assembling.
  8. The dress is so light and flowy too. Ok maybe I'm just an idiot tonight, so I did the photobucket thing. when I paste onto message box I just get a web address. What am I doing wrong??
  9. I'm doing turquiose as well. I'm only have my sisters and I let them pick out what they wanted. This is the dress they decided on... sorry I don't know how to put photos on here. One sister is going to lose the straps and one is probably going to keep them. I really wanted knee length, but my one sister had type 1 diabetes and has brusing on her leg from the disease and doesn't want to be embarrased. Alfred Angelo... 10. Wow that is gorgeous.....what color are your bridesmaid wearing?
  11. Sammysgirl- where did you get your mother's dress at? I'm trying to figure out what kind of dress she should where being a destination wedding and my dress not being that fancy. Ladytrunk- I'm thinking the same thing for my bachelorette party as my friends are over the US too. I know other brides have gone to Coco Bongo and had a great time. Not sure I'm into the clubs anymore so I may request a snorkeling trip or catamaran party boat kind of thing. What are you thinking? My STD's just hit people's houses yesterday and today so I'm so excited to hear who is coming. I included preliminary RSVP to get an idea for OOT bags.
  12. JNagan, My fiance and I actually stayed at the Riu Mexico last January. We were able to spend time at all the other resorts and we really like Riu RM b/c it was a younger crowd. It may have just been the week we were there. Also, Mexico is older, the Riu RM was only built about 3 years ago. The pool is a lot nicer at RM too. However, besides that they are pretty much the same. We ate at both places and food was the same and the staff was the same. We saw a room and that was the same too! The price between the two is about equal, when we got back we looked it up b/c we liked Riu RM better and it was about $12 more per day. As far as booking, you go to the website and book the date. They will send you a confirmation number. Once they give you that number you will have 60 days to book your room. So we reserved our date in November and just booked last week.
  13. you can try to read the thread on the site about destinationweddings.com, but the concensous I got from reading the thread is don't. I already knew where I wanted to get married so I picked a local travel agent. She is going to book everyone based on there own travel dates. I think it works the best.
  14. You may want to try Alfred Angelo Bridal Store if you have one in your area. They have samples all the way up to size 26W.
  15. KimmyG-I was there last year during peak season (in Jan) and I never had to compete for a chair. Because there are so many chairs no one is selfish and tries to save them all day long.
  16. Everything looks great! You are going to make a beautiful bride!
  17. Thank you it was really sad. Now I'm even more confused. I went dress shopping on Friday around my home town and found another dress, but it is completely different. So confusing.
  18. Congrats! I'm getting married about a month before you at the same place!
  19. Wow Josie you TTD pics look awesome. Did you use your real dress or did you get another one for the pics? Shelk-can't wait to see hear about your BD pics. I just got back from pittsburgh (a five hour drive) b/c a very good friends dad died of pancreatic cancer. While I was there I found an Alfred Angelo bridal store and I decided to go in and just look. The good news is I think I may have found my dress. The bad news is it is an exclusive dress to that store! They don't even have it on the online or there catalogs. What to do?? That's a long drive for a dress!
