  1. Samira-Can I ask why you are renting a car? I don't believe they have anywhere for you to park. Also, Playa Del Carmen is a gated community. You have to leave your ID at the gate when you enter and you don't get it back until you leave (I believe this is how it worked for transportation/taxis). I was there last year and you really don't need a car for anything?
  2. Paige-I wouldn't suggest shipping anything. There are threads on here about it and from what I know they get stuck in customs and you may never receive them.
  3. I think I was just lucky! I'm the first in my family (mom and dad's side) to get married and DEAD LAST of my friends so everyone was up for it! My family is super excited and my friends are so happy to go for a fun weekend wedding (plus they live all over the country so they would have had to travel anyway...better Mexico then NJ)! LoL
  4. Hello! I'm getting married on November 5th. STDs-Sent out January Dress-Picked up last month Bridesmaids-Picked up last month Grooms clothes-still undecided Photog-TTD booked and using the resort photog (no choice really) Invites-Not doing (our STD's had RSVPs in them)-we are sending out brochures to all those coming closer to the date Honeymoon-Booked (we are going to Belize) We have 34 people booked and expecting at least 17 more to book.
  5. Nicyx-Sure when I get home I should be able to... Sammysgirl-I think you are leaving tomorrow! I hope you have a great time! Good luck with everything, I can't wait to hear about it all when you get back!
  6. Nicola-Sorry I'm at work right now and can't pull up the email with my price quote from the Riu for Juan Carlos. I believe those prices sounds about right. I know I had options for more longer sessions and more photos (those price quotes were in ~1200 I think). You need to find out for how long those photo sessions are for b/c the ones that were very expensive were for only the ceremony (a few hours)?? Sorry I can't help you on the wedding script.
  7. V-I second that. We booked our trip in December so almost a year out and it was about $450 night/double occupancy. Last week the room rates went down to about $340 night/double occupancy. Make sure you travel agent has something in there that you can adjust prices as it gets closer.
  8. Vlvetter-pm me your home email and I will forward you the coupon just in case!
  9. Vlvetter- I found a really pretty dress at David's Bridal. It is short and cute with little cloth flowers and will be perfect for a legal ceremony. I still haven't taken a picture of it and I believe it's only in this catalog online. (Sorry I can't see it right now b/c my work blocks the site). The have a few others that were cute too.... If you find something you like from this collection let me know b/c I got a coupon for $20 off special occasion dresses (of course after I already spent full price). Dressed Up by David's Bridal Dreams of sunshine-sorry for all your stress. Before you know it the big day will be here and it won't matter anymore! Families are a piece of work! Sammysgirl-Wow that is a hugh AHR!
  10. vlvetter-I love your dress! Nicola-congrats on booking, so exciting!
  11. Vlvetter-I was in the disco at Riu Tequila last year. It was kind of cheesey, but after a bunch of drinks we had fun and I'm sure your guests would too. The only thing is it is about a 15 min walk b/c it is directly across the street from Riu Palace Mexico.
  12. Sammysgirl-I'm so jealous, I wish it was me leaving in a week! I hope your interview went well.
  13. Nicola-No you don't have to pay for the safe. It's free, you set your passcode the first day.
  14. Jannae-I think they will look great! Don't drive yourself crazy. Sammysgirl-Can't wait to see your planning thread. I can't believe you day is almost here!
  15. I found very cute floral ones from david's bridal. Unfortunately you can find them online. Here's a picture. The were $59.00.
  16. Wow, you have an amazing planning thread! Everything looks great!
  17. Jen-We registered sometime in Feb at Crate and Barrell and still have to register somewhere else b/c I barely have anything on there. I like most of you didn't want/need to register but everyone said I should or I'd get things I didn't want. No one knows we are registered yet so you could do it now before you leave for you internship and that way it is done. Sammysgirl-I'm so sorry you are stressed out and can't enjoy this. It really can dampen the whole experience! vlvetter-I think you can wear whatever you want. I've seen other pictures of girls that wore a cute dress or nice pants and top. I think it depends on how you want to feel on that day.
  18. Nicyx-I love those shoes. I was going to buy them for my wedding too. The only thing to warn you about, I found the at Marshals last week in black and white and they are pretty uncomfortable between the toes. You may be able to put padding around it though? Sammysgirl-What happened with your shower this weekend? Did you go? Jannae-Your dress is very pretty. I hope they are able to fix what you don't like.
  19. Jannae-There isn't Wifi in the rooms only in the lobby! Samira-Thanks, maybe I'll try another Macy's to see if they have a better selection. We walked by a JJill, but I had never been in one and didn't want to drag her in there if they didn't have women's sizes. I'll check online! Jen-Thanks, let me know if you find anything good.
  20. Good Morning All, Yesterday I went shopping with my FMIL and mom to find them dresses. My mom is a perfect size 10 and looks great in everything. She really found the dress she loves a few weeks ago, but it's so expensive she is still looking. My FMIL on the other hand really struggled yesterday and we found nothing that looked good on her. She is very homey (if that is a word), grew up on a farm, only has sons, and I have NEVER seen her in a dress. She is a bigger women (about a size 18-20W), but is small on top. We went to David's Bridal, Nordstroms, Lord N Taylor, Macy's, and Lane Bryant with zero success. She left the day feeling worse about the whole thing and bad about herself. Does anyone have a suggestion of another dress place i could find for women's sizes? I have to have a better plan of attack the next time so she doesn't feel so bad about herself! As you can tell I still feel bad this morning! On a good note, I found a welcome dinner dress and my shoes at david's bridal!
  21. Kimmy-Thank you so much for the great review! Wow, that was a great savings $20 instead of 1700!
  22. Kimmy-Congrats and welcome back. Can't wait to hear your review and see pictures! Jen-wow that is really nice of them. I picked mine up and of course it is too big. I knew I should have ordered a smaller size, but the def didn't offer to get me a smaller size. I guess I'll just be paying out the wazoo for alterations.
