OMG, I completely changed my mind! Something else is def going on. Your FI needs to step in and deal with this now! You should be completely out of it. Are they doing this to punish you or your FI for something? Did his brother already have his wedding attire, tickets, etc I don't think you should go to the shower now. Just understand that your relationship with his side of the family will be no longer. Are you okay with that? More importantly is your FI okay with that? It will make yours and his life a lot more complicated!

Sammysgirl-At any point did they say that they would go to the wedding? I know we had a discussion with both our parents before we booked. His mom has never flown before and if she wasn't comfortable then we weren't going to do it b/c it was really important for her to be there. If they were agreeable before I'd say that this is not right. My opinion is that you go to the shower regardless. I don't think you should stoop to their level. I agree you don't have to be nice to them, just polite. My godmother who has no children, millionaire and retiring on Sept 1st is not coming to our wedding. I have yet to get an explanation but heard through the grapevine she doesn't want to leave her cat. Weird. I saw her on Easter and was just polite and said hello and held no conversation with her. She got the point w/out me being rude and think they will too! I'm so sorry you are going through this, it must be so hard!

I wouldn't change your resort. The people saying it is too expensive are the same people the most likely will not come even if you change your resort and then you'll really be kicking yourself.

We forgot to take pictures while I was in it on Saturday. I'm storing it at my mom's house so I'll have to go back and take pics in it. I'll post them when I finally do. I'm debating about my hair too. I was thinking half up too. I'm still looking for hairstyles. I still can't decide on a veil. A friend has a veil that I can borrow when I finally decide. I really like the flower idea too!

Jannae-Those are so pretty. I just picked my dress my dress up yesterday. So exciting! Now I feel like I can start looking for jewelry and shoes.

Katie-Congrats. You look beautiful. I'm so glad that you were happy with your dinner being everything that happened before. Your pics are beautiful too and that makes me happy too b/c that was the one thing I was worried about being I'm using them! Josie-sorry to here about the problem with the photog, that is really too bad. I agree with you just write it without putting anything about her.

Tracy-thanks for the info, i don't think I'll waste my time. I keep telling my mom to wait and see if it goes on sale. We'll see.. I wish they had it a Lord and Taylor b/c I always get coupons, but we can only find it at Nordstorm right now.

Thanks for the info. I just don't want to take my MIL anywhere she is going to be uncomfortable. She is a bit homely (if that's a word) and I have never seen her dressed up so Im thinking David's bridal. We checked the Jackson Outlets for my mom's dress but of course it is a brand new style so it's no where yet except the BCBG store and Nordstroms. We got in Wildwood.

JNagan-I know they have Corona and then one other beer, but I can't remember the name of it. They don't have the best selection of beer.

I know this planning thing gets to be alot, but mostly b/c of the people that like to make things difficult! I've maintained my cool through it all though and it makes my mom happy that I'm not eloping so it's worth it. I know I won't regret it. We are getting married before even though my FI didn't want to, but the paperwork hassle will be so much less. We got engaged at the Jersey Shore where we meet in September so I was suggested to him that we have our legal day there too. We'll see if he buys into it. We aren't telling anyone b/c people would be disappointed and want to come. I don't live to far far from Freehold is it worth it to go there with my mom? Are all the dresses really expensive. She found a BCBGmaxiara dress she loves but it's really expensive although I have a feeling she is going to land up getting it. Also, my MIL is a bigger women do they have plus size there? I don't think we are going to do an AHR. My parents are pushing for it and I don't think I want to spend the extra money. It doesn't help that we are getting married in Nov. I would have had a BBQ if we were getting married in Spring/Summer.

Congrats Katie, you look gorgeous! I'm so glad everything worked out in the end! My FI and I were talking last night and we officially have 44 people coming and if we have the dinner at Chili's we are going to do the buffet too so I'm glad to hear that it was good! I can't wait to hear more about it. I'm so realived to hear that some of you aren't doing OOT bags. That makes my decision a little easier.

I feel guilty not doing them, but I just don't know if I want to have tote all that stuff down. I really wanted to do the mugs b/c I know they'll get used so I think your idea is great! I know the key/tip card holder is really good too b/c when we went last year it was a pain to always carry the towel card, key and money! Stacyi-Welcome, your dress is beautiful. I agree that you should def have girls try them on! It's so hard to tell by the pictures esp if you have a bridesmaid that isn't a size 0.

I live in Hopewell Township. We never even looked at a venue in NJ. The prices are ridiculous in NJ and I've seen ALL my friends do it and had no interest. I wanted to elope, but my mom had a fit about it so this was the best of both worlds!

I did see the post too! I was pretty annoyed. I had to post something as I stayed there last year and DID NOT have at all the same experience. It did bother me the way she said it.

Katrina-I'm so sorry for your bad experience. I have to say that I stayed there for 7 days in January 2009 and had the complete opposite experience. I just had to comment because I don't want any of the RPRM brides freaking out. I constantly was being asked if I wanted drinks by the pool and didn't have problems with the food. I don't think they were completely full when I was there either. The dampness problem I did experience, but as long as we kept the AC on it went away.

I sent out STD's with RSVP's the first week of January. I'm actually thinking I am not going to send formal invitations now, maybe just information pamplets for those that said yes. I made the preliminary RSVP date April 1, b/c most people either know they are coming or not. I've gotten a pretty good response so far and about 20 people have booked. Seemed to work for me.

I say go for it! People that work for themselves are so much happier, have lower blood pressure and maintain a better weight! I too am in the process of getting out from behind the desk and starting my own business in the next 6 months. I read a GREAT book that helped to convince me that I can do it! It's called, "Making a living without a job" by Barbara Winter. It's only about $10 on amazon, but will give you the confidence you need! Good luck!

Nicyx-I think it looks great. I would add about how men have to wear slacks to dinner (at the restaurant), no shorts.

Katie-Wow that is unbelievable. I don't get it because if they were serving dinner that night, they wouldn't know who was ordering what. So strange. Make sure you print off all the emails so she can't go back on what she told you!
