  1. Hi ladies! I'm getting married at The Royal Cancun on June 18, 2011. Glad to find this thread, it will help me stay motivated to get stuff done!
  2. Funever photos is the company that I have been given for our wedding package. Does anyone know about their work? We are probably going to hire an outside photographer for the wedding but are hoping to use the photography that is included in our package for a different event (welcome party, rehearsal, etc.) Is this even possible? I would hate to "waste" anything included in the package because we are paying for it.
  3. Karielk - On our last trip to The Royal (March '10) we went over to the Gran Caribe on a site visit tour. We love the Villa Terrace and it was the deciding factor on our wedding date because it was the only Saturday in June 2011 that the villa terrace was available for an evening reception. The day we were there it was extremely windy. We are very concerned about the wind at our reception, but I think it would be windy anywhere on any given day. We are just crossing our fingers for a sunny, non windy day
  4. We are getting married at the Gran Caribe gazebo on June 18, 2011, but are staying at the Royal. Our reception will be on the villa terrace at the Gran Caribe also. We are still in the process of confirming all our dates but are getting really close to signing the contract. We are working with a girl named Julie and she has been very helpful so far. We have been to the Royal twice in the past two years and absolutely love it there! It is our favorite resort!
  5. Welcome! I just started planning also and this forum has been so helpful! Good luck and happy planning!
  6. Hey girls! melly, The Royal and Le Blanc are both located in the "hotel zone" which basically means they are on a long strip of hotels. Some hotels are closer to each other because they might be smaller resorts or bigger resorts, etc. I have been to cancun 5 times and have never felt "crowded" at the resorts I choose. IMO the beach in cancun cannot be beat. It is absolutely stunning! Playa is also a great and charming little city but for our wedding we are looking for more excitement for our guests! I think we have chosen The Royal cancun. We are going to confirm our choice on a site visit this summer. Good luck with all your planning!!
  7. I am also looking at The Royal cancun for our June 2011 wedding. I cannot offer any help for the other two resorts. I have stayed at The Royal Cancun twice and have loved both stays. We also got engaged at this resort. Sorry I can't offer any more info. There seems to be limited info on The Royal in Cancun and it has me a little worried.
  8. We live in Waco, which is about 1.5 hours North! I love Austin....it is my favorite Texas city!
  9. I just emailed him to get quotes for our wedding! I am so excited because I have heard great things about him!
  10. Hey girls! We are trying to narrow down a resort for a June 2011 wedding and would really love to have it at The Royal. It is our favorite resort in Cancun and also where we got engaged BUT I am worried about the lack of communication between the WC's and the brides. We will probably end up there because of the special moments we have had already at the resort, but I am hoping that the planning process will be smooth! I am glad to have found this thread. I was beginning to think no one got married at The Royal!
  11. Congratulations! That is an awesome story! We are also planning a June 2011 wedding in Mexico! Happy Planning!
  12. Me and my fiance absolutely love Mexico and have made several trips over our 7 and 1/2 year relationship. Our favorite hotel of all time is The Royal in Cancun (where we stayed on our last trip to Mexico). This most recent trip over spring break, we were on more of a budget so picked a different hotel to stay in and had a wonderful beginning to our trip! On the 3rd night of the trip we were about to go in and get ready for dinner when he announced that we had a change of plans. I was confused but went with the idea that he was being romantic and trying to surprise me somehow. He had packed my favorite dress and told me to wear it to dinner. I was shocked because my favorite dress is a very formal kind of dress. Again, I just went along with it. We got in a taxi to go to this "special dinner" (which I thought would just be at a fancy place). Well, to make a long story short, we pulled up at The Royal and were quickly escorted down a candle/rose petal path to a private dinner in the gazebo overlooking the ocean. It was absolutely breathtaking! We had our dinner and wine and at the end of dessert he got down on one knee and proposed! After 7 and 1/2 years this was absolutely the best surprise ever! In addition, he had reserved that night of our trip in a swim up suite at The Royal. The room was decorated and we had a wonderful, romantic night! I will never forget how thoughtful and romantic he was! Now we are looking forward to getting married in Mexico!
