  1. Hey Ladies, FREEBIE FOR YOU! So I worked on my key card holders this weekend and made about 32 more then I needed. So if any of you are getting married in Mexico in Jan 2012, and havent made yours yet - let me know and I will mail these off to you. I printed them on a sand colour card stock I think they look really cute. If your interested, email me and I will send them off to you. I can also send you my template and you can run off some more if you need it. Here is a pic of them not in the key tag holder yet just so you have an idea....the pic is a little fuzzy, but the writing says " I take you to carry my key and tip money, for poolside or barstool, for soused or sober, in heat and humidty until I depart" Oh and the writing is in a bluey/turquiose colur I guess. My email is [email protected] Oh and there FREE btw!!!

Then I can talk to the WC at Azul Sensatori and see what dates in May of 2011 are open. YIKES! I am an event planner so it's not like I can't get everything I was planning to do over 2 years done in 1 right? LOL Yay! How exciting for you if that is the case! I hope your family gets on board with it for your sake. Makes things so much easier then. Keep us posted!!!
  3. I found Tag body spray for the guys regularly $4.00 each for 50cents each at Feilds, along with portable battery operated Ipod docks. Regular $25.00 and I got them for $5.00 each also at Feilds. They wil be getting the same beach kit and hangover kit as everyone else, but instead of the pashmina's they will get this. Hope that helps someone.

Are you all ready to go or do you still have some last minute things to get together? We will be looking forward to your planning thread - hint hint.....lol So you said that you were going to take them to "Fusion"? Where is that and what is the cost for each person to go? You will have to let us know how it all turned out when you get back. Atleast we have another option instead of the disco. I know BChilla (Jennifer) had stated that there were other areas to mingle but I think that would be another great alternative if it is as good of a show as it sounds. Any info on it would be helpful for all of us Im sure. Thanks for posting that idea - and congrats on being next~~~~
  5. I made a card for MOH (borrowed the saying inside, made a slight change to the inscription), bought a mini bottle of tequila, and gave her a starfish necklace to wear on the day of the weding, along with alittle card inside the box that tells her what the starfish represents. I just mailed it on Tuesday to her - so I am excited to see what she thinks when she gets it on Friday. Hope this helps someone!!! I had a lot of fun making it!
  6. I will take everything but the candles - just pm'd you!

  9. Hi Michelle - welcome to the forum! You picked a great resort!!! haha! there is a thread specifically designated to Sandos Playacar brides - take a look! Its over 40 pages I think, but once you read it from start to finish - I dont really think you will have any questions left about that resort. lol A coupke brides just got back from there recently and have also posted a review of the resort. Our resort of choice is not as highly sought after in comparison to all the "Dreams" brides, but we still have a lot of info for you on there. Hope to see you there Jenn

  16. More brides with our colours - seems everyone is doing orange and fuschia! So glad there is this thread. My colours are truquoise and orange. Turqusoise is my main colour with splashes of bright orange. I started a few DIY's this weekend as it has been a crappy weekend weather wise.....snow! Yes you heard right - the white fluffy stuff that comes at christmas, came knocking on our doors friday night and its still here...ugh! I hate living this close to the mountains sometimes....Calgary weather sucks! LOL On the bright side, I got some DIY"s done. I dont have any inspiration boards, but I can post what I have done thus far in those colours...... I have done my sandlewood fans as well as my OOT bag thank you tags. I am also working on the package I'm putting together to ask my FSIL to be my maid of honor. I will post that once I am done. Oh and here are my monograms that were made by Becks from Allurements by Rebecca. She did a fantastic job and I would highly reccomend her if anyone needs a monogram done! I also have a thread that shows my beach kits, but I will post a quick picture of that too. Hope that helps anyone if they need some colour inspiration. I love BDW forum - so many ideas!!!

That was the first thing all my guests talked about was how the disco smelled of cat pee (it's in my review). The disco door stays open all the time, and they have stray cats that live at the resort. The disco is not that nice looking either but...it is super fun especially once you get all your guests there. There is a nice outside area between the La Bombola Bar and the Mexican Buffett, that everyone hangs out at, they have tables and chairs, so that might be an option. You should check on what the entertainment is for the night of the week you are getting married on, and maybe you can just partake in that, until the disco opens, so people can go dancing there after if they want. They do all the evening shows in that area. We did our speaches in the restaurant, so we could get that out of the way and just go party after. If you want somewhere nicer, you can go to the main lobby (where you check in) and it's not busy...there is a bar there too. Right outside there is a really nice patio/seating area, you could go take that area over. Hope those options help! Thanks Jennifer, somehow I overlooked that in your review....hmmm. I will definitely keep that in mind when it comes my turn. I will check with whomever is the WC at the time if we could use either of those spots instead of the disco. I will have to save this post somewhere so I dont forget...2012 is too far away!!! lol

AB - Great find! THats a really good price and exactly what you were looking for. Couldnt ask for much better! I love Dollarama! Way to go!
  19. I was trying to decide between Sandos Caracol and Sandos Playacar Beach and ended up picking latter. I found too many poor reviews on the resort. PLus my gf stayed there and she is so easy to please and she had some complaints. THe mosquitos were a HUGE issue there, bc you are more secluded and in a tropical forest. Plus she kept hearing about racoons attacking people. THere are a lot of wild animals bc of where it is situated andwith having some kids coming, I didnt want to chance that either. The water park is amazing, however it wasnt enough to make me change my mind. I have heard poor things about a few of the restaurants and although I take all the negatives with a grain of salt, I also noticed that there wasnt a lot of info on this resort. THat made me wonder too. In the end i changed to Sandos Playacar Beach resort and there is a thread on here just about Sandos. It is very helpful and very close to the Caracol prices. It is a very big resort with lots to offer. I have flip flopped so many times on my resort, but eveytime I kept coming back to it. I found this resort offers so much more then the average resort for their wedding pkgs and they dont nickel and dime as much as the others. My FMIL's sister in law and brother in law just came back from there and they loved it. The only issue is that you need to warn your guests to avoid the timeshare sales people. They are at both resorts. BUt there is info in the thread about that too. If you have any questions, let me know, but like I said check out the Sandos Thread - there is a TON of info on it. Jenn

I definatly want to try and find a place that does not charge for outside vendors because we wil hire an outside photographer and DJ. Plus we are getting married in June so we might have our ceremony starting as late as 6pm. So Gran Caribe is probably out. Still looking for a TA, has anyone worked with Tammy or know anyone who has, I was thinking of working with her. J88 - I think most resorts charge for an outside vendor regardless of what resort you are at, but the amount differs. Sandos Playacar charges $70 for a day pass so if you only have to pay for two people I guess that wouldnt be too bad. I know they dont charge any surcharges on when you choose to have your wedding. I actually found them to be the only ones that didnt nickel and dime you for everything, plus you got a whole lot more for your wedding pkg then the other resorts. We are having a symbolic wedding bc we are doing the legal day here in canada, and Sandos is the only resort that will give me the following for free: wedding champagne and wedding hut for 30 people, wedding cake for 30 people, beach wedding at any time, white linen covered chairs, table and sashes of my choice, music, full wedding co-ordinator services, upgrade to next room level if available, guarenteed king bed, wedding gifts, the list goes on. All the other resorts only seemd to cover these free things for up to 10-12 people. As for the reviews, you just have to take them all with a grain of salt,no matter which resort you choose. Remember that people are always faster at posting a negative review then the people with positive reviews. If everyone that had a positive review posted a review like all the negative reviewers out there, this would never be an issue bc it would probably amount to under less then 5% of the total reviews. People are always so quick to point fingers. Most of the time, their vacation started off badly with something at the airport, and the negativity just followed them through the whole vacation. I think its all in what you make it. If you go there with a positive attitude and smile or laugh when something may go a-rye (sp?) bc really its probably not the end of the world, how can you have a bad vacation. People go there expecting way too much. THis is Mexico remember, not the USA or Canada. Our standards of a 5 star hotel are not the same of a 5 star hotel in Mexico. They work with what they have and I think they do a damn good job for what they have. Especially for what they make too. When I went to the moon palace in 2006, we had this amazing waiter and we tipped him $10 every night and then at the end gave him $20.00. We found out that he barely makes $100 per week!!! And he is one of the few that make that much. I think people forget that when they are there. They forget that our worlds are different. If you want a 5 star - then stay in the states or canada where a 5 star is a 5 star. People expect too much - its a vacation - they need to chill! So dont worry at all about reviews.....its all in what you make of it. Besides your marrying the love of your life....things are going to go wrong - they always do.....it could be the smallest of things, but something always goes wrong. A wedding is never perfect, its just a big issue if you make it a big issue. Surround yourself with good reviews - bc they definitely outweigh the bad..... Norma's review should be all that you need, if that is the resort you pick. Good luck and dont stress. Where ever you pick, it wil be beautiful. Jenn
  21. I wonder if the disco issue - was just that....an one time issue. Bc a lot of other brides have rented it and didnt say anything about it. I guess I will just have to see how it goes when I am down there and I will decide then whether to rent out the disco or not.
