  1. Here is a link to another sand ceremony thread with lots of great information related to sand ceremonies. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/58778/sand-ceremony
  2. With the breeze on the beach, it isn't possible to do a unity candle so I appreciate the information related to the sand ceremony. I haven't seen a post by a bride after they returned from Mexico to let us know if the sand mixes together or if the ideas of a stopper and/or melting wax prevented that from happening? Thanks!
  3. Not that I am happy for your situations, but I am relieved to see that I am not the only one with family drama. My FI and I got engaged February of this year. My father has been in declining health for the past few years and has hardly left the house. We said we wanted a DW and that we would do the civil ceremony right in my parent's house so they could see that as a church wedding wasn't something my father could attend either. My mom stated that was not an option given my father's health. My dad died in March and all planning for the wedding came to a halt. My mom has decided that she HAD to sell the house, HAD to find an apartment, and HAD to have a moving sale this year. I am the youngest of 6 and have spent a lot of my time (weekends and vacation days) taking care of both of my parents as they have been in and out of the hospital quite a bit the last 5 years. My siblings have been there off an on as they could but I understood that they had commitments to their spouses and kids that made it difficult for them to be there at times. Since I have been spending what time I can planning a wedding, two of my siblings have sworn at me, told me that all I am doing is having "FUN! FUN! FUN!" while they are working to get this moving sale ready (by the way, I had already helped my mom move, box up some belongings and plan to assist her with getting things ready next weekend as well). My brother even went so far as to tell me that he and his family will not be attending our wedding. At the end of the day, it makes me sad that people are behaving this way but I cannot control them. All I can do is ask who do I really want to be there? Do I want a brother who is verbally abusive and gets angry at the drop of a hat? No. Do I want a sister who says nasty things behind my back? No. I want the people there who are truly happy for us and will share in our joy that day. I am not sure what will happen to my relationship with my siblings but I have no interest in focusing more attention on them than they deserve. I like what you said, Kelly, about "They had the wedding that they wanted" and for some of my siblings, that was twice! Sorry for the vent.
  4. Wanted to share the beautiful hair flowers that {Red-i} by Chelsea is making for my bridesmaids! Thank you Chelsea!
  5. I love Priscilla of Boston gowns and had an appointment with them that I postponed (my future MIL was going to come with me and the dates didn't work) but I found my dress elsewhere prior to my Priscilla of Boston appointment. I was tempted to make an appointment to go and just try on some of their gowns for the heck of it when I saw they were going out of business. Maybe I still will. Your dress is beautiful and it is so wonderful that you found your gown before they closed!
  6. This is a very beautiful dress! Love the shoulder strap with beading and the ruching makes it fit you like a glove. Great choice!
  7. Here are my shoes. I am having them dyed pink to match one of our wedding colors (pink and orange) and I am excited to have a little splash of color under my beautiful dress! My shoes are on back order so I really hope they come in soon!
  8. Sorry you had a bad experience at David's Bridal. I did not find a dress I liked at David's Bridal for myself, however, all four of my bridesmaids found their bridesmaids dresses at David's Bridal. All four had great experiences as did I as I went with three of them to choose. One of my bridesmaids was from out of town and she bought her dress off the rack. They sewed in cups right then and there so she could take it home with her that day. I think experiences vary for everyone. I read poor some poor reviews for some of the boutiques where I shopped for dresses as well. In the end, you can't please everyone and unfortunately, there are some poor sales people out there as well who do not understand the concept of customer service.
  9. Thanks for that thread link. We have a few items chosen but need more ideas!
  10. That is a beautiful match! I decided that I wanted a veil (did not think I wanted one until I tried on one!) but a flower comes with my package. I would like to include a flower with the veil. Any ideas on how to pull off this look???
  11. I can find wedges online but nothing in stores. I want to try them on to make sure they are comfortable before buying them. Does anyone have any ideas on stores where I can find some wedges to actually try? I have been to Macy's, DSW, and a few other department stores.
  12. You look gorgeous! I tried on that dress and did not look half as good as you!
  13. Beautiful! Congratulations! I have to wait until December for my dress. I paid a little visit tonight to the sample dress as I picked out a veil. I was reminded of that episode of Friends where Monica, Rachel and Phoebe sat around in wedding dresses. I could relate as I did not want to take it off - even though the clips did not look the best!
  14. Andrea that is a great question because I was wondering the same thing. Ladies, has this been an issue at all?
  15. Brides, FYI as Priscilla of Boston is closing their doors on all locations. Great sales I am sure but if you have ordered a Priscilla of Boston gown, then I would recommend calling the store as they close on 12/31/11. http://www.priscillaofboston.com/index.jsp
  16. Looks like Priscilla of Boston. Just read that they are closing shop 12/31/11 for good so if you can find a shop near you, then you may be able to get the sample for a pretty good price.
  17. We went with a linen suit from Men's Warehouse. They are having their buy one get one free sale right now and my FI needed another suit so this was the best deal we could find. Just an FYI for those not sure of going this route.
  18. I love your centerpieces! I have been trying to figure out something to do with LED lights and wanted floating ones. Thanks so much for the inspiration!
  19. I really like the idea of the canoe and the sand. I will have to look around to find something similar. Thank you for solving my problem!
  20. We are doing OOT bags for each person. We found some online for very inexpensive - 40 for $35. Not sure about everything that we will put in them, but we will place the itinerary for the week (any group events that we will plan), itinerary for day of the wedding, information and map of the resort, information about what to do in the area, etc...Since we are doing OOT bags, we will not do favors at the wedding. Our resort will give them to guests at check in.
