This woman said that they would honor 2010 rates for our May 2011 wedding since 2011 rates aren't available yet. We asked for written confirmation but didn't receive anything. Fast forward to today...I get an email from my TA who called Doreen...Doreen now says that we'll have to pay 2011 rates even though they aren't out yet. This seems absurd to me...I mean seriously, who signs a contract without the numbers on it?? Did anyone encounter this or have suggestions on how to approach the situation? I definitely plan to push back, I'm just not sure if it would be better to let my TA do the negotiating or if I should call and do it myself. Thanks for the help! Hi Becks, We booked a year in advance and got to lock into the rates. I had to work with Doreen and she was just horrible. I ended up asking to be moved to another sales person. Did you get anything in writing from her? I would have your TA call and if that still does not work I would call directly.
  2. Congrats everything looked wonderful! I am so sorry about your grandfather
  3. Thanks ladies I can't wait to see everyone pictures!!

Hey, yes I def will check it out because we are having our cocktail hour there and I was planning on wearing heels, we shall see lol

Looks like he will be at the Royal two nights in a row lol I am getting married on 11/12/10 I just love that he is so responsive to my e-mails and questions. Above all his style was exactly what we were looking for. His rates were really great and at the time he was running a deal for the first ten that book. He will be doing our rehersal dinner and wedding
  6. What a wonderful planning thread! and that was amazing what the bdw girls for you I am glad to hear you healed so quickly. Your going to look amazing.
  7. Hi Ladies, I just got the updated wedding checklist for 2010. One knew change that Fi and I are really excited about. They now offer a fire show for 30 minutes, 4 dancers $600. This is something we want to do during dinner at our reception on the beach. However I am going to look and see if there are any outside vendors for this service and compare the rates.

We like to option of having a higher class resort for guests who want that and a more inexpensive option for others. Thanks. Kate Hi Kate, I totally know what you mean about not wanting to spend more. I myself have not seen both yet but we are going in two weeks and we will be visiting both. We chose to have our wedding at the royal but we do have guests staying next door at the gran. We are also hosting our welcome cocktail party at the gran. We also have 5 kids attending so we needed a place for the kids but at the same time we wanted an adults only place. This was the perfect solution for us. Good luck with your choice and I will post a review when I get back on 11/16

Jen Royal Playa del Carmen April 29th, 2010! Hi Jen I think this is for me since from what I can tell I am the only one with an upcoming site visit. If not well I will also help get you the info you need lol I def plan on cheking outside florists and I will let you know about the beach set up Two more weeks!! I will take lots of pics

But I was told its only a ten minute ride over. Doesn't seem to bad.
  11. This was actually the original place we looked at. Paula was wonderful and very responsive. The location is beautiful especially the terrace. For us the cons were it is not very private on the beach and its right next to one of the major beach clubs in Playa. When we were there last we were at the sky terrace and the club music was really loud. but the beach club next door is so much fun and everyone could go there after a dinner. You could save money on the DJ than. Also we are having a 100 people and it was very tight for that many people. Another cool thing they do there is you can have a fire show which I thought was awsome. And also your guests do not have to stay there if you have your wedding there. Good luck with your choice!

I was told the lighted dance floor would be extra $700 dollars, which I think is a lot. I was wondering what food options you were given? I feel like after reading other brides posts on here about the Royal the Royal my WC tells me different things. I was not even given the cake option you mentioned they said my options are like basic chocolate, strawberrt, lemon, etc... We are having a tough time with food descion too, tough when you have not tasted it. I wish we were doing a site visit. I also heard about a great DJ through this site that is cheaper than what the Royal charges. Who is your WC, mine is Doreen, but she is just the person I have been talking to on the phone. Hi, that does sound like a lot for the dance floor. I highly recommend not going through the resort for the DJ. DJ Doremixx (Ivan) and DJ Mania both are a lot less expensive if you book through them even with the extra $100 vendor fee. DJ Doremixx is $650 for 4 hours and $550 for the dance floor. I just told the resort we had a DJ that we wanted to use and they did not ask any questions. Here is what we are trying for our food tasting: Breaded chicken fillet with sesame seeds Shrimps au coconut with mint sauce Cantaloupe pearls with prosciutto & spearmint Spring salad with goat cheese & almond oil Caribbean salad with shrimp, smoked pineapple pesto & jasmine flower Prosciutto with cantaloupe and Dijon mustard vinaigrette Oyster cream soup with fried leek Clam chowder with chopped vegetables au white wine Princess cream soup with green vegetables au white wine flavor Beef fillet with Dijon mustard, garnished with provencal herbs Valentino beef fillet with pink pepper sauce & Jumbo shrimp Beef fillet tournedo with three peppers sauce Lime pie with strawberries Paris chocolate shell stuffed with fruit au white Cinzano flavor Tres Leches Cake I will take lots of pics and do a full review. As far as WC we got Zulma who we are meeting with on our site visit. However you have to be in contact with their sales office first before you your WC. I originally had Doreen and had a horrible experience with her. She did not seem all there. I constantly kept having to repeat who I was and asking the same questions. She also never got back to me and got really pushy about putting our deposit down. Finally I asked to speak with the manager Angie. She has been working with us since. However I also find I have to continuelly follow up on questions. I have heard from every bride that actual WC's at the resort are wonderful and take care of everything. Leaving for our site visit 11/11 - 11/16 so stay tuned for more info ladies
  13. What a wonderful wedding it looked so relaxing and fun!

  19. What a great story! I love that he wrote it up him self. Love the ring to by the way.
  20. Yes they do multiple a day, however it depends on the time of year. During the busier months this is more likely.

Is the WC there and does it cost any extra? 2) Do they automatically allow the ballroom to be available in case of rain? Or do I need to call and get them to reserve that some how? ~Thanks! Hi, You can do a rehearsal dinner the night before at the ceremony loction - depending on how many people it will cost extra. If its just 15 people they usually let you set up in one of the restaurants. Also if there are going to be kids there it has to be private which does cost extra. Otherwise you can look into doing it at the Gran next door. They do automatically book the ballroom in case of rain. In my contract from them it specifies that if it rains they automatically resreve the right to ove everything to the ballroom. Hope this helps
  24. They came out really great! I love the color choice - I was wondering did you use a template? I plan to create my own using photoshop as well and also I was wondering where are you going to get them printed?
