We have all been having huge issues with the lack of communications from those working at the Royal.

She has been wonderful and they have lots of experience. If you click on the banner at the top and fill out the form a TA that specializes in Mexico will be in touch.

However when we were on our site visit Zulma the WC at the resort told us that if you book a master suite for 5 nights or more the judge is included. Sort of silly because those are two of the most expensive rooms so its not like they are really giving you a deal.

So, needless to say I am slightly frustrated. I was also quoted $350 vendor fee to bring in outside vendors, is this the same fees others are experiencing? It seems high? Thanks, Jen Hi Jen, Unfortunetly these are part of the Royal's new policy's and the reason we chose not have our wedding reception there. However they were suppose to be honoring the old policy if you put a deposit down before December of this year. Do you have a TA? If so I would get in contact with her and have her call them.

FI just called and she told him she had already emailed back the confirmation and that if he has further inquiries, please email. Funny. Btw, no email confirmations at either email account (also checked junk/spam). If your working with a TA I would have her call her. Angie is really terrible with getting back to you and following through. I finally got my TA involved and it was the only way to get answers.

I highly recommend using a TA because they can really get you the best prices. Especially when you do a group booking. It makes life much easier

Hi Ladies, I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. Question for anyone who has already had their wedding or a site visit. Does anyone know what the largest bar area is at the Gran Porto? I forgot to look and see when we were there. We wanted to have a welcome cocktail night but instead of paying we just wanted to ask everyone to meet us at one of the bars at the Gran Porto. Is there enough room for 100 people at any of the bars and area around it?

Hi to all the girls interested in Kool, here is the low down: - You can have your reception till 2am here - Your reception cannot start until 7pm because they close at 6 to the public and then need an hour to finish setting up for private events - Lilliana is the event coordinator there but you still need to get all your own vendors - She can assist you with getting your information from other vendors - I was told for us there is no rental fee because we are having 80 plus guests - I am not sure if there is a fee and how many guests you have to have in order not to have the fee - I am fluent in Spanish and managed to make connections on our site visit with lots of vendors so I booked all of the vendors myself. This was huge for us because I was able to negotiate quite a few prices. - Also you should know Kool has a policy where you have to go through them for music and use their dj, we got quoted $1,045 for 5 hours and it included all kinds of special equipment. This of course is the 2009 rate. - Another huge plus for us was you don’t need a dance floor; they have a large raised stone patio surrounded by lounge areas. It is right next to a pool that they fill with candles and the bar is also right there. This meant another savings; we don’t need to rent lounge areas. - I love the food at this location. On our site visit we ate lunch a lot here. We went with a buffet rather than a sit down because we want something more informal - We chose the Grilled Buffet which goes for $30 Per Person and we chose the #2 National Open Bar for5 hours for $38 per person (these are 2009 rates) - If anyone would like the menu and open bar options please e-mail [email protected] and I will send everything on. I have to 2010 rates as well. - Also with this location you have to rent the linens. I got the linens through Liliana at Kool and for 100 people the total came to $750 - We did hire wedding planner Yazmin De La Mora for the day of our wedding so I don’t have to worry about anything - Here is a list of my vendors: Kool Beach Club KOOL - Restaurant bar by playa tukan Liliana – [email protected] and [email protected] Photographer Flash Portfolio | Top Mexico Photographers | Mexico Destination Wedding Photographer Samuel Luna [email protected] DJ Ivan Gomex – DJ Doremixx http://doremixx.com/ [email protected], [email protected] Florist Marvin Jose Ku Kinil .::: Maya Diseño Floral Profesional :::. And after all the drama and the constant change of rates as well as certain policies we decided the Royal was just not for us. It really just came down to our personal preferance. We also saved a lot of money so I was happy with that

Hi Ladies, happy holidays to everyone!! I wanted to let everyone know that we decided to changed our reception from the Royal afterall. But all our guests and us are still staying at the Royal and the Gran Porto. We are also still doing our ceremony followed by a champagne toast at the Royal. I will still be here, if anyone needs any of the reception info I will hold onto it.

The Royal Playa Del Carmen - November 22 with pics!

They do not allow you to bring shells into Mexico. This held up a box. They ended up shipping it back to me and then I just brought it with me (which is funny, since I ended up bringing these items anyway). 2. Make sure you list out everything that is the box. Put all over any of the documentation that this is for a wedding. I shipped maracas in a box, I shipped towels in another box, I shipped my koozies in a box, then I shipped some odds and ends in another box that included sunblock. The towels got through with no problem, but the other items were held up for a while. If you have everything labeled properly (which I didn't) it will help. Once we got everything there we were so glad we went this route. BUT... it was a little bit stressful. 3. You will ship it directly to your wedding coordinator. So... just have them be on the look out for it all. Hope that helps. Feel free to ask any questions you may have!!!!! Thank you so much for all the great info about shipping!! I meant to ask what did you choose for your menu choices and how was the food? -

The BEST Photographer for Riviera Maya Weddings
jesmcan replied to aerazo's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Wedding Vendors
Hi ladies, I also booked Samuel for our wedding, he is also doing our rehearsal dinner the night before. What I love about him is his responsiveness. He gets right back to you when you e-mail him. If you see his portfolio and blog I really think his portfolio speaks for itself. -

Hi Ladies, Happy to report after contacting my amazing TA Jill Angie finally got back to me. I have yet to see everything in writing but she e-mail me last night. Jill is working on getting a higher up contact for me to speak with. Angie claimed she found my e-mail in junk mail. I find it highly suspect since I have been in communication long before this e-mail. Also did anyone notice in jaxsebridetobe's review that you don't actually get upgraded with the Luxury and Ultimate Luxury packages. You just get a discount for the rooms. They really should not put than you get upgraded by two levels than. I know it is still based on availability but its misleading to say you get this. I have a whole list of other questions I want clarified and in writing. As soon as I get I am going to post it and forward it on so we all have something and writing and don't have to keep dealing with this. We decided in the end to stay with the Royal. We cannot find anywhere that can really accomodate a group our size. So like Lady Di I want everything in writing so when I get there if there are problems I have it all there.

Thanks, Louise Hi Louise congrats! The taking of the pictures really depends on a lot of factors. We are doing ours before for a few different reasons. First we are getting married at 4pm. In order to have light and sun we wanted to get the pictures before hand. We are getting married in November where it gets dark by 5pm.Two we don't want to miss the cocktail hour lol. It is a great time to mingle and relax before having dinner. And finally we love the idea of the first look. This is a private moment that the photographer sets up for you and your groom. I think for us we felt it would really help with nerves lol and it would capture a moment when it is just us alone. Again this really varies from every person on how they would like to do it.
