  1. Another Tulum bride (to-be!)! Welcome & Congratulations!
  2. You are right Diane, just keep it simple right?! I feel something is missing if I don't "over-plan" Yet, I don't want to devote that much time to planning it and stressing to make it happen! Your AHR sounds great & relaxed. By the way, I really enjoyed reading your review on GPR & the Royal! Those locations were regular "meet up" places for us when we were in PDC because it is so central, and there is parking for your car! My sister always stays in GPR when she goes to Playa del Carmen.
  3. Does anyone have AHR details & pictures, planning, that they would like to share?? We're doing an ultra-informal one in a month or two, but I need some inspiration! I'd like to keep it barbecue / or cocktail style etc., I am debating between getting it catered (which might be more money than we want to spend)or trying to do most of it ourselves and just hiring 2 helping hands or so + a bartender...... Would love to hear what you guys are doing/did!
  4. You've definitely got a keeper! I think FI knew better than to veto what I wanted/bought/planned, and just went with it as well

  6. Magalie, on a side note, I can't wait to see more of your Playa Fiesta pictures (your sig is gorgeous!)
  7. This one is a bit of a toughie! I originally considered getting married at Playacar Palace, but I was told that you couldn't bring in an outside photographer, so I didn't pursue that option any further. My sister has been to PDC numerous times and usually stays at Gran Porto Real, yes the rooms are a bit older, but has great service, and is in a great central location, so it definitely has that going for it. I would personally lean towards Playacar Palace, as I was drawn in by their wedding terrace (to each their own) if I couldn't have a beach wedding (as they have no beach). If you decide to get out of the resort though, I would stay at this little place called Lunata on the 5th avenue strip in PDC, it is gorgeous 9 or 10 room hotel, and it is like you are walking into a different world (like old Mexico, but with all the amenities). I wish I could be going away to get married all over again! Whatever you choose, have a blast & congratulations!
  8. What a happy day it will be! Congratulations!
  9. Rowena, your photos are fantastic and you are so beautiful in them! I love love love your bouquet and how you carried the pink and lime-green colors throughout your decor and details. We stayed at the Palace as well, and aside from the grouchy front desk people, I loved it. Thanks for sharing.
  10. Angela, your dress is going to look so ethereal in the water, I love it! I don't think it needs a crinoline at all.
  11. Natalie, without a doubt your pictures are going to be out of this world good! Cheers to the upgrade
  12. No problem!! If I had to do it over again, I would have turned to a BDW TA, but I didn't because I thought having a TA in the city that I lived would be a better idea, but proximity doesn't necessarily mean anything I have found. After all, we are/were planning our weddings by email right? Quote: Originally Posted by bigboponthebeach Sita, no apologies necessary as I sincerly appreciate your response! What I did find interesting is something you mentioned......when we first spoke with our TA/WC, she was REALLY nice, joyful, and warm. Once we got going and we signed on, things changed. I just don't feel comfy spending the next 12 months planning one of the most exciting days of my life, with her involved. Just women's intuition, I guess. :-) Thank you again!!!
  13. Bop, Do not let anyone pressure you into doing what you don't want to do! The best advice that another bride gave me and I know it to be a100% true now is do what *you* want to do--I know that sounds selfish and I don't mean it to be, but what i mean is, go with your vision and don't let other people convince you otherwise. This I struggled with big time, but don't second guess yourself!! Our travel agent from the local Flight Centre was absolutely awful (the worst part about the wedding planning process for us), but seemed great at first. It is a blessing that you know now that you don't like her. YOu have a year to go, so take time to do your research I was originally going to get married at the AI resort (Barcelo) we were all staying at, but less than 3 months before the wedding, I knew I didn't want to get married on the resort and found a wedding coordinator who helped me to make it all happen on the exact day we wanted to be married. You have lots of options! Sorry for the novel! Good luck!
  14. Yeah, I didn't like how messy looking my nails were after they peeled off (i.e. need to be buffed or something). Maybe its a combination of the product/chemicals/and poor application by the esthetician....
  15. I got the OPI Axxium manicure a week before the wedding (should probably have left it to the last minute, but had too many things to do last minute), and one of the nail "color" had peeled off completely the day before the wedding, so I just touched up with similar colored polish that I had. As the days rolled by, more nail colors "loosened" so I had to peel them off, but at least they peeled off in one piece! I am sure it was the salt, sand, and chlorine water that majorly contributed to it. So in total, it didn't last even 2 weeks intact, but was very nice when it wasn't peeling... Hat0112, I also thought that the color didn't match what it was supposed to be exactly either.
  16. So happy for you! It's going to be one helluva exciting ride You won't regret one second getting married in the Mayan Riviera. Happy planning!
  17. Oh I know, I have definite Mexico withdrawal....
  18. Wow wow wow! What great mind candy ! Loved reading every word and seeing every idea!
  19. I loved working with Fernando! Gama did hair for me, my 4 bridesmaids plus my mom. Originally, only I was going to get my make up done by Fernando, but he ended up generously putting on false eyelashes for all the girls as well, and in addition did my sister's eye make up at the last minute. He is great under pressure as we were running out of time (because we started late, we were supposed to start around 1 for a 5pm ceremony, ended up starting around 2ish). He is super responsive to emails and traveled all the way from Cancun to Tulum for our wedding with no added travel fees. Fernando is super professional, but also fun and friendly as well. I would highly recommend him.
  20. Matt, Thank you so much for putting those up (a few I haven't seen yet!). You are just so swept up on your wedding day that its hard to take in all the details. I realize now just how great it is to have it all 'immortalized', and captured, digitally anyways! The people I have shown the slideshow to have said the pictures look unreal and breath-taking. I don't know how you guys do it, but Sol managed to really highlight moments and make it look bigger and better! I have an element of "I can't believe these are our wedding pictures". thank you thank you!!
  21. Brilliant find! Had to share it, thanks!
