  1. mariesam how did you get SO creative? I swear, you are like the BDW DIY hero or something! I will be back for these...just need that magic 150 posts...
  2. wow! I LOVE that. I don't know that I'll be able to do it though, hunting down photos of my peeps will be tough. What was the feedback you got from your guests on it? I bet they thought it was awesome. Did you do any kind of special newsletter for your OOT bags or for arrival at the resort?? Nikki
  3. I love this... Thanks for sharing! I'll be back for it as soon as I can open attachments!
  4. I'm trying to download this, I click the link, but I get a message that I don't have privileges Am I doing something wrong? I've got plenty of points.... Nikki nevermind, I see that I need 9 more posts....
  5. I don't know who made my gown- I bought it last spring as a sample gown for $600. I got an AWESOME deal as the price when it was on sale before being discontinued was like $1800. I haven't gotten any pics of it on because at the time I bought it, it didn't fit. I'm having it modified to a corset back. Now, the dress is with my parents and I'm several states away. MobileMe Gallery Does anyone have any idea of who might have done the gown? Like most bridal shops, the only tag in the gown is from the shop- not the designer. -Nikki
  6. DH has seen my dress, on the rack IN the store the day I bought it! I know I know, but we're footing the bill entirely for this- rather I should say he is, since I'm finishing med school. But he has a TERRIBLE memory for things like this, and if you asked him today what the dress he saw 8 months ago looked like, he wouldn't have a clue. By the wedding? He's not going to remember. I will make sure when we leave for the trip that he doesn't see it and won't see it until right before the ceremony. I do want to see his face when he sees me in it all gussied up, etc. But I don't care about seeing it on a hanger in a store.
  7. I can relate. Dad has a new family, and stepmommy ended up pregnant and due this march. Daddy will be 58 (yes you read that right) in a few days. And can you believe that there is actually a question as to whether he'll be there at my wedding in June? I was and still am mortified. I don't see what the deal is. She has the baby in March and has plenty of family to help her for a few days while Dad is down there with me. When I first heard the news, I balled for days. Other people can't relate, but your dad not being there for you on your wedding day is a hard thing. Our relationship is not strained, so I'm really unsure why there is question of him going. Thankfully for you, Benny was a strong supportive hubby and helped you through it. -Nikki
  8. It is a pathetic trend. I'm glad she disappeared before I sent her my money. Good Luck to those of you who are having troubles- I hope you can recover your money. Perhaps we need to point a mod to this thread so they can ban or do whatever it is they do when someone does this? I know they can't step in but I thought they were banning members- not sure.
  9. BB- How did you end up dealing with your dad not being there? I know your grandmother passed before the wedding, so I imagine that these two not being there must've been hard for you? Nikki
  10. You both look so amazingly happy! I want to cry and do a girly *squee* of joy for you! I never worked with Mercy before- I've dealt only with Ana Luisa. I can't wait to hear your review!!
  11. I used their free 100 postcards for my STD's and there was no VP logo anywhere. I've used them for addy labels (back in the day though) and there never was one there either...
  12. Just so there's a record here and in email (as promised): Taking fans, leaving bags. Considering cake service and parasols.
  13. You're very welcome. You may also want to consider the Eden Real? I happened to comment on another post in the For Sale section and I guess it's a new resort down in PC. I don't know *anything* about it though, but I thought I'd throw out another option.
  14. sent you a PM about the bags and fans

For me and my FI, we wanted good food and a beautiful resort and since no kids were coming anyway, a kid free resort was definitely the right choice. I check trip advisor often and the resort gets amazing reviews. Hope this helps! I agree completely. We have no kids in the family, other than one stepbrother who is 14, and my friends have no kids. We have no kids. So an adults only resort was at the top of my list. Second, we wanted one that was a little more 'lush' and 'tropical' in it's surroundings, so some of the newer resorts were out. They may have to die for rooms, but when you look around the vegetation wasn't mature. You could have been in Miami, Phoenix, anywhere, you know? The whole high rise feel was out as well. We wanted something that made you really feel like you'd gone to another place, and we LIKE the idea that the vegetation is mature at some of the older resorts. Third, we wanted a resort where even at maximum capacity the service didn't die off. TA will help you with that- people are quick to say where the service issues are and what the problems were. Yes, EPC is like 10-12 years old. Yes, it's starting to show it's wear here and there. But will you spend every single waking moment in your room? No. It was more important to us what people said about the food, the employees, the beach, the pool, the spa, the bars, etc. We didn't want a resort that had 2,000 people or 2,000 rooms, etc. We wanted a resort that was smaller, low rise, and had a decent beach. EPC has rough waves, but if you read TA walking down the beach to the right you'll find gentler surf. Plus, beach swimming isn't a make it or break it for us. We're happy in a pool too. Lastly, it was important to us how many weddings a day are done at the resort. To my understanding EPC only allows 2 a day. I can live with another bride and I getting married on the same day, though I picked a Thursday (10 June 10) so the likelyhood that I'll have to share staff and my day are slim. I didn't want a wedding factory resort. Some of these resorts do 3,4,5 weddings a day esp on weekends. And I wanted a resort that would give us a base package free for the wedding/honeymoon since we're staying there so long. EPC does that. In the end, only you can decide which resort is best for you, but I'd recommend you sit down and think of what you want and like, etc. And then read TA reviews and see what people are saying. Look at the photos, videos, etc. Good Luck!
  16. calchick, I've booked MW too to do our photos. In his packages now, he doesn't stay through the reception. Was it the same for you? How did you compensate for this? I'm glad you posted your review- it really helped me decide when I was in the process of trying to book photographers. Nikki
  17. Has anyone seen the thread with the site visits in it? I thought I came across it once, but can't find it now...
  18. I'm wondering the same thing- DH and I are definitely going to go there for dinner one night- but I don't want to have to have that kind of cash on me during the trip....
  19. my advice? go to trip advisor (all one word) and search these properties. You'll find honest reviews from ALL types of vacationers, not just brides/grooms (though those will be there as well). Look at the pics/videos on that site as well. It helped me decide which resort I wanted....
  20. I don't think this person is going to come back, I've PM'd twice and left messages. I don't know about you others, but I'm going to consider her no longer interested in selling and move on.
  21. where did you get the iron-ons you used on your tanks?
