Suggesting in our welome letter that people meet for welcome cocktails on Thursday worked out great and afterwards one group of people decided to go into town for dinner and the rest stayed at the hotel and had dinner together. Great to know!!! Thanks. I think the welcome cocktails will be enough and maybe a group dinner will be able to follow.
  2. I'm assuming my guests will arrive on thurs/fri for a Saturday wedding. I was not planning on having a welcome dinner but see that it's a popular thing here. Is it expected or is it just an unexpected bonus event? I was thinking of just mentioning to guests that we'll meet for drinks at one of the bars the night before the wedding... And including the "welcome cocktails" on the wedding timeline in their gift bags.
  3. I know this is a wonderful "problem" to have, but I cannot decide between these two resorts. I've read the threads here on both, and I read their websites, tripadvisor reviews etc... My TA says both are great spots. FI and I will not be able to make a site visit before our big day. Everything I hear and read is so positive about both resorts! Do you girls have any negatives about either of these resorts that would help make my decision a bit easier? thanks, Dani
  4. Those are the most adorable passport invites!! I love the stamps and all... oh man they did a great job!!!

  6. I think we've (finally) decided on 10/9/10 in Riviera Maya!! Glad to see some date twins! Darn Kace, I wish I could share that photog but our dates are the same.
  7. Number 3 for sure. What stomach?! I actually think you look tiniest in #3 too. Great shape for your teeny lil body!
  8. I'm in LOVE with number 1 and think the style would look good on more of a variety of body types too.

  11. Funny I should see your post right now. I'm planning a FL wedding and my mother just sent me a link that may help you out. Wedding, Special Event, Party and Meeting Event Venues, Caterers, Event Planners & Photographers Event Planning Resource Maybe they have cancun planners?
  12. I agree it's what's best for you. Some folks wouldn't bat an eye at paying $5k for a photographer, and some balk at it. ::shrug:: it's all relative eh? The ladies above made some great points for when it comes to the "big" stuff. For smaller stuff, invites, gifts, favors etc. comparison shopping is super important because there's a wide margin on prices for the exact same product. I'd say before you decide on number of people, you should find the budget that works for you FIRST. Good luck and happy planning!
  13. I'd probably stop sharing the info. Share your feelings on the situation with her and gauge her response. Definitely be upfront, she may not realize it or it may just be unintentional similar taste like estella said.
  14. Whew! What a load off. Ok thanks ladies for the suggestions. I think we'll make a pretty email (Morgan thanks for those sites) and include a link to our website (we're making it for free on Weebly.com) and send a letter to those folks we know aren't web-savvy. Oh and yes, we're going to make and send invitations closer to the date. (maybe January for our June wedding...that's enough time right?)
  15. I'm trying to save money on this wedding, so I'm thinking of not sending out a STD magnet or postcard. I'm thinking FI and I (and our mom's) will just let everyone know by word of mouth or email. Is that tacky? Any idea of other ways to let people know without sending postcards etc.?
  16. I like this thread. I have a 14 year old (going on 40) brother who I want to have as a part of the ceremony somehow. These are interesting ideas. I still have to brainstorm because of his age despite his maturaty. For you, I like the reading idea as well as having him do the ceremony. How sweet!
