  5. my parents just got back from SGOR and they loved it... but their biggest complaint was all the walking and steps. My parents are close to 50, so they aren't what I would call elderly. So for an elderly person, I personally wouldn't recommend SGOR. They have rebooked for next year and they will be staying at Whitehouse. Their TA told them SGOR was hilly but they were never thought it was that much. The TA suggested when they return to Jamaica they go to Whitehouse because it is a more even layout. Hope that helps everyone who is looking at SGOR but has elderly people going.

If you decide to go with JA, then you really don't need to be married before hand. how does that work with jamaica? would you be able to tell me what the requirements are? also, how long do you have to wait for the marriage certificate.... and I guess it is legal in the US? thanks for all the answers... sorry for all of the questions!

  10. congrats and good luck planning! choosing a hotel is the hardest part (well atleast for me it is! lol)
  11. I just read this "The U.S. statute states that a marriage performed abroad which is valid under the laws of that country is generally accepted by any state. " So the answer would be yes. I am not sure if the resorts vary on requirements, but here are requirements I found when I looked it up: Notarized / certified copies of birth certificates Notarized / certified copies of passports Notarized / certified copies of passports of witnesses Single declaration ( translated in Spanish and legalized by an official Judge) Notarized / certified copies divorce papers ( if applicable ) Notarized / certified copies of death certificate ( if applicable) All documents have to be presented in Spanish and must be legalized by an official Judge and validated by the Consul of the Dominican Republic.
  12. ambeato... do you think you could email me the info you have as well. [email protected] I was also looking into dreams but it is a lil pricey. Thanks so much and cant wait to hear your wedding review!
  13. I saw someone mention in another thread that the hotel photographer at the Melia wasn't good, but not sure what the reasoning was. good luck with the rest of your planning!
  14. do you know if the resort offers a beach ceremony NOT in the gazebo?

We considered Beaches for them, as it is right next to the Sandals, but then they would only be allowed one day pass to join us for the wedding, and the other 4 days they are in Jamaica, they would have to stay on the Beaches property, or we would have to meet them off the resorts. We wanted both of them to enjoy time with us through the week, not just the day of the wedding, so they opted to share a room, as friends, at Sandals. Sandals Negril would have let them have their own rooms, but they didn't want to pay double occupancy. Hope this helps thanks! definitely helps! also, I meant to ask if BEACHES was cheaper than SANDALS (i put breezes but I was confused with all of these properties lol). thanks!
