  1. So sorry to hear about your loss. Try to hang in there during this rough time! I can't imagine the stress you are going through right now. I wish there was a way to help! Good luck!
  2. I was just wondering... which photographers offer a *cheap* package?
  3. We are not set on any particular resort since it will all be based on pricing for us. I meant vacation, as in the time you were at the resort for your wedding/honeymoon. From what it seems, you book your wedding date before you book your actual trip(vacation) with the resort? We are looking at the end of April/beginning of May so hopefully we won't run into too many problems since we aren't booked yet lol! The actual date doesn't matter since we are doing legal stuff here before we go. I guess I am being way too laid back about the whole thing hehe.... Thank you so much for your help!
  4. I was just wondering how far in advance is recommended for booking a destination wedding and hotel. I asked my travel agent for prices for next April but she said they weren't available yet. I see people posting they have their wedding dates booked for next year already, so I was just wondering how far in advance should everything be booked. And do you book your vacation before you confirm your wedding date? Also, how many days did you get married (or plan on getting married) after you arrived at your resort? We are thinking about doing all of the legal stuff here before we go, but I didn't know if people usually waited a few days before their actual wedding day. Sorry for so many questions but I am feeling a little lost!

I see your wedding date was in April.... we are looking at going right after Easter since I will have a paid week off from teaching. I have to go talk to a travel agent for prices, but hopefully the weather will be nice! Thanks so much everyone!!!

Thanks in advance! I have looked at Trip Advisor as well for many resorts I was interested in and came to the following conclusion: people will be more likely to post when they have something to complain about then when the have a great stay. I wouldn't let the Trip Advisor reviews sway your opinions on each resort. I would definitely ask people who have been there before about their experiences. Also, if you have a travel agent, I am sure they will be able to help you as well! Good luck!
  7. I was just wondering if anyone has been to Punta Cana for a wedding or vacation in April or May, and what the weather was like. I am a teacher so I am trying to accommodate my wedding with my vacation days from work. I am a little nervous. One of the main reasons we are getting married away is so we can be married on the beach. I know the weather is never guaranteed, but was hoping some of you could add your input. Also, if it has rained on your wedding day, what did you do (or what would you do)? Thanks in advance!

  9. I am very visual. So I have made a chart comparing things that were important to me at each resort I was interested in such as resort price, wedding cost, if outside photographers were allowed, adult only/family friendly, etc. Good luck!

Def sounds like a great place! I am liking it even more after reading your review! Do you have anymore photos? The link on your review only shows 6 pictures. Thanks so much for your help!
  11. I was looking into the Barcelo resorts as well... specifically the Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe. The reviews on tripadvisor go both ways. People have said that if you go, stay at the Palace Deluxe because that is the newest section. I would love any opinions or reviews from people who have been there as well! Thanks!
  12. do you know how much their packages run for weddings and what they include?
  13. You girls are the best! Thank you so much for your help!

We're taking advantage of this package since we're staying in RS. The hotel is charging $15 for each extra chair for the ceremony. We added a cocktail hour and made our reception a private dinner. Overall, this saved us roughyl $1,600!!!! I hope this helps. Good luck with your search! Thanks! I will definitely check it out! I have been looking for awhile but we recently just decided on a date (well we have the month and year) and I just feel like there are so many places and packages, that it is hard to search through them all. With so many brides on here, I figured I'd give it a shot and ask for a little help! Thank you again!

[email protected] Yea, the price will be the deciding factor for us as well. If anyone has info or pics please email me at [email protected] Also, someone mentioned mosquito's? Did anyone have a problem with that?
  16. I don't know if there is a post on here about this and I have been looking through the threads... but since many of you have already booked your hotels for your weddings I figured I'd ask. Are there any resorts that offer a "free wedding" package? I know some places offer a free wedding if you book a certain amount of nights or something. We are just trying to find the best deal possible since we would like to save money when possible. We will only have a small number of guests staying with us, and we are either going to do a symbolic or ROV ceremony since we will take care of the legalities before we leave (I am not sure what the difference is between symbolic and ROV ceremonies are). I am just trying to see which places seem to offer the best deals. Do any current or previous brides have any suggestions? Thanks in advance! This site has been really helpful!

Also, if you have guests coming, it will be easier to direct them to the TA to book which they might find less stressful. Also, some TA's will give you a deal if you have x amount of rooms booked! Good luck and happy planning!
  18. Do the weddings book up fast here? I see someone booked for next March... and we are looking at next April, but we can't make any decisions until the prices are released since that will be the deciding factor for us. If we wait a few months to book, will it be too late?

  20. this sounds like a great idea! can someone pm me a price list as well?

We went to DLR for our honeymoon and really missed DPB, the beach wasn't as nice, and neither were the bathrooms in the preffered club! The photo's were amazing at DPB too, with such a gorgous background. We used HDC photography, they were fantastic. Sarah Thanks! I am definitely leaning more towards DPB. Did you find the preferred club worth the extra cost?
  22. welcome to the forum! so nice of you to help your friend!
  23. I heard about this change. I wonder what it will be like. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing photos and hearing reviews from people who go there, since we have yet to decide on a date/resort!
