  1. Wow! It's absolutely stunning! I'm so glad you went with your dream dress- you only get one big day!
  2. Just wanted to poke in and see how things are coming?? Updates, Updates!
  3. Aww that's soooo exciting! I can't wait to receive that fabulous little letter in the mail (registered or otherwise) Lucky girl, I'm glad it all worked out!

Trio, Videographer, flowers, cake-- the whole shebang is booked when you arrive. Any questions, direct them to Melissa with Sol Melia Cuba.

Maria Elena will actually have your app't booked for you ahead of time, but you can mention that you would like it earlier in the day once you have arrived and they are pretty great at accommodating you. If you're really concerend, Melissa (Melia Cuba rep for Can) can help you out by relaying info. to Maria Elena for you (photog. preference, hair app't, menu questions) She may not be able to guaruntee anything for you, but she can try.

Erin, are you two planning on doing a TTD the next day?? To be honest, DH and I did all of our group shots/ ceremony photos from 6:30-7:30 (the last few were dusk with the middle end being sunset and gorgeous) All of our best day photos were from our TTD sesh anyway-- something to consider when you are worried about getting enough full-daylight shots. Are you taking a photog or hiring one from the resort?
  7. Welcome and COngrats!! It's always great to see another MLD bride here, there are many great threads about MLD-- I hope you have a blast exploring. I'm here is you have any questions.
  8. Tammy has sticky'd a really great Powerpoint breakdown for DIY logos-- try the search tab, there is a lot of advice on these floating around.

Who would have thought this would be so difficult!!! Well I hope all goes well with the confirmation, MLD is an amazing resort with phenomenal staff and facilities. If you have ANY questions at all, please let your fellow MLD brides know. Feel free to take a look at my review (bottom of siggy) I tried to be as specific as possible and it may give you some insight.
  10. Wedding Packages-- Wedding package - Wedding and Honeymoon programs in Sol Melia Cuba hotels & resorts I totally recommend the Cuban Trio as an upgrade, make sure you get an extra bottle of Champagne for the toast (if you have more than 25 ppl) and DEFINITELY spring for the private reception by the pool, it was amazing. No issues with the carry on of the dress or DH's attire-- just make sure that you don't cross through customs in Cuba without it as they may take it from you for "inspection" and not say much more. (read my review if you need more info.) Air Canada was great, but push for Executive Class if you haven't already-- they took really good care of us.
  11. Hey girl-- we got married at 6pm this June, and while the sun sets a little later in the summer, the hotel wouldn't necessarly have allowed the time if they thought you'd be doing it in the dark (as they don't want the notary driving accross the bridge in the dark-- it's scary at night!) Here is a sunset / sunrise calendar for Havana (it was bang on for us) the "sunset" lasts about 1/2 hour-- so keep that in mind when you're scoping out Feb. Monthly Sunrise Sunset Times for Havana, Cuba

We are flying Air Canada....anyone have issues with bringing the wedding dress/ tux's as carry ons? THANX!!! MLD Wedding package info-- Wedding package - Wedding and Honeymoon programs in Sol Melia Cuba hotels & resorts I recommend upgrading to the Cuban Trio for some portion of the ceremony. They were AMAZING! Also, the private reception was wonderful!
  13. Dh bought me laser-eye sugery as a Christmas gift a few years ago--- it is AMAZING! I didn't do Lasik, as the doctos recommended PRK for people younger than 30, as it limits the scar tissue (something that impedes any future treatment, should it be needed) The surgery is pretty much identitcal, however the recovery time for PRK is about 6 days LONGER than lasik. My younger sister got lasik and was back to school and work within 3 days-- no pain during recovery. If I could have done it again, I would have done lasik. Either way, it's AMAZING not having to worry about glasses or contacts! (especially when travelling!)
  14. Your first step is going to be filling out a wedding request form-- You can find this at solemeliacuba.com under the wedding tab. It is located on the right hand side under "forms." Your best bet for getting answers and reserving your preferred date would be to contact Melissa (the Melia rep for Canada) her e-mail address is [email protected]. She is great at answering most questions you have, and acts as a sort of second WC-- she will be who you talk to until you arrive and meet Maria Elena (the WC at MLD) Typically they allow 3-4 ceremonies per day-- on average they do 18/week (as they don't normally do weekends due to constraints with the notary) With that in mind, DH and I wanted to get married on Jue 30th (our 5 year anniversary) but were told that they already had booked up all their spots for that day. I asked them if there was anything that we could do, as it was important to us. Initially we made back-up plans for July 1st, but Melissa contacted me and mentioned that they would make an exception for us and allow the ceremony to occur at 6pm. Ask and-- 99% of the time-- thou shalt receive. Talk with Melissa-- she will be your go-to girl, and should be able to settle your mind.
  15. Whoa-- did you anyone hear about the cheating rumors?? Uh. Oh.
  16. I recommend checking out the reviews for both resorts on this site, and also Tripadvisor.com. That way you can get many different perspectives of each and balance the pros and cons from there. You can check out my MLD review with the link under my siggy-- we LOVED it! If you have any questions, please let me know. I'd be happy to help!
  17. Congrats Erin! MLD is an AMAZING resort, and they are fantastic at hosting amazing weddings. Make sure to poke into the MLD Brides Thread, as all of the MLD associated links are on there-- also there is a great Facebook group called "Melia LAs Dunas Brides" and it has lots of great reviews, etc. There are also PLENTLY of us on here, so if you have any questions... just let us know.
  18. Woo hoo! Congrats Mary. I hope you had a blast, can't wait to read your review.
