I just assumed that stuff is covered. I think it totally depends on your resort-- Luckily our resort DID provide them (at no extra cost, bonus!) however there are many resorts that do not offer chair ribbons, especially in a wide variety of colors. I would recommend discussing it with your WC and clarify whether or not it is a service they can provide. If you decide that you are going to need to purchase some, try the search tab as many of the other DBs have posted some great / affordable options and websites.
  7. Hey all! Just wanted to let you all know I have posted photos from TTD and the wedding day (link under siggy) My photog was actually from the resort -- as many of you probably know there aren't any available for private hire in the region. His name was Alfredo, and he was AWESOME!
  8. I love these types of engagment stories-- through thick and thin. Your story shows true love and raw emotion. BEautiful.
  9. Here's a few more... I love this photo-- FG didn't realize that I wasn't behind her, and when she realized it was just he boys the look on her face was priceless.
  10. So DH and I embarked upon this adventure last Sept. (yes, this post is a little late) It began as our attempt to keep things personal-- but ended as a VERY tedious task that took a lot out of our wallets and our minds. Luckily my wonderful hubby was kind enough to surprise me by finishing them up after I had a 3am break down of cutting and pasting. What a fabulous man! We used long blank cards from Michaels, and then created a "portfolio" insert on the right side with pull-out information cards slotted into each. The labels pictured indicate the info included-- most of it voided after the piggy-flu incident. But you get the idea. The "all you need is love" was a great stamp my sis and I found at Michaels, and a theme we carried through onto the envelopes, Bridal shower, and AHR. Underneath the stamp we placed four black satin "corner tabs" and inserted our DIY STD magnets-- no pics, sorry. :S The magnets were a black and white photo of DH and I -- at the top they read: "Looks like love is here to stay, so let's celebrate with a week away!" Followed by the usual "Please Join Us" and the date, of course. It was really fun to make them-- but I think we both wished we had paid someone else to do them. lol
  11. Calling all DIY queens-- remember to scope the weekly flyer / coupons for Michaels. These are TRULY helpful Michaels - Weekly Ad
  12. We chatted with our photog, Alfredo, after the ceremony and I asked if he was able to do a TTD for us (he was hired from the resort, and it isn't typically a service they offer). He didn't speak any English, but he and I chatted for a while "en espanol," and he mentioned that he would be happy to spend a few hours with us the next day to take our TTD the photos-- COMPLETELY FREE! He said he enjoyed shooting us and enjoyed our look as a couple, and mentioned that he wanted to use us in his portfolio. Of COURSE we agreed, and the day was a blast! We gave him a nice hefty tip, and he ended up throwing in three blown-up TTD and Ceremony photos, plus several wallet sized. What a GREAT time. Anyone getting married at MLD-- ASK FOR ALFREDO! He is awesome (and don't worry about the language barrier, he's not shy in positioning you as he needs to) "Heading into" our favorite restaurant Not seen here: Our entire family mocking us from the swim-up bar. lol In front of the new wedding gazebo He was in trouble-- and he liked it. We didn't realize he was taking these photos-- but they turned out really cute. In lobby after a LOOOONG day of TTD
  13. My sister / MOH doing up my dress My grandpa passed at the beginning of May-- it was very hard, as he was looking very forward to being with us for our big day. He gave these pearls to my Grandma on their wedding day-- this is a photo of my mom placing them around my neck. Brings a tear to my eye just remembering the moment. A very nervous DH waiting to the right side of the pavillion Just after the big walk up the aisle-- so excited! Making it Legal THE FIRST KISS!! (and YES, DH did rip my veil out-- talk about passion!) The Whole group shortly after the ceremony **Blue Steel** Going in for a kiss I promise I will post a slideshow link as soon as I can get my home-comp working.
  14. Oh Andi, You're pics are absolutely OUTSTANDING! You two make an absolutely gorgeous couple.

Also, think of culturally specific games/ traditions that you could import from the country you were married in. For example, many Latin American countries have a tradition where you jump over a broom while holding... hmm... I don't remember, I want to say it's a loaf of bread. Anyhoo, you get the idea. lol
  16. The personalized one with the actual pic in the middle is great! They are all super cute though. My second favorite is the car. Good luck choosing!
  17. Biggest Hits Our last-minute decision to include the personalized 18oz Stadium Cups was DEFINITELY the hit of the week-- EVERYONE used them, and most ppl even brought them home! Deck of cards (the boys even brought them on the catamaran excursion) Beach Pail-- we used a Beach Pail as the actual OOT bag itself, and most ppl headed down to the beach to use them right away. (I promise to add pics soon) Oh SH%&T Kits -- Bandaids, Advil, Safety pins, Scope and hand sanitizer Hand Lotion-- Travel sized hand lotions were carried in everyone's beach bags over the week Mints! Pocket Size "Spanish for Dummies"-- most of our guests carried these throughout the week and practiced with the resort employees. It was really nice (and funny) to see them all trying to hard. Misses Starbucks Coffee-- brought at a nice touch for the coffee makers in the room (nobody seemed too interested) Mini Pedicure kits-- most of the girls had pedicures done before, so they went un-used. As cute as they were, I wouldn't have added them. Frisbees-- only came out for one day, not worth carting them to Cuba. They have a lot of beach toys available down there...
  18. Beautiful! I love the lace accents-- good choice!
  19. Gorgeous photos Kristy-- really beautiful flowers too! Congrats!

  21. DH and I decided to wait and do our First Dance song at our AHR-- the musician that we hired learned "Forever" by Ben Harper for us (He sounds SOOO much like him!) so that'll be our big first dance! So excited!
  22. I've actually been doing a bit of research on this today-- Here are some fun AHR games I found: Roman Hands and Russian Fingers: This game is guaranteed to get the men in the audience chuckling. The bride is blindfolded while the best man places three small clips somewhere on the groom's person. These should be in difficult-to-find places, such as the groom's shoelaces or the back of his hair. The blindfolded bride must then find each of the clips with her hands. To make this game even more interactive and fun, allow guests to call out "warmer!" or "colder!" as the bride's fumbling hands get closer to or farther away from a clip. Bride or Groom The Bride and Groom sit back to back in the middle of the dance floor and remove their shoes-- each of them holds one of each shoe. The DJ / MC offers different questions like... "Who snores the loudest" or "Who is the messiest" The idea is that the bride or groom (or both if it applies) must identify which of the two the question applies two by holding up the appropriate shoe as the identifier. (I love this one, it is soooo cute) Hula Hubba-Hubba Have your guests doing a lip hip action with this fun and hilarious wedding game! This game is all about making your guests work for that golden kiss from the bride and groom. All you need is a hula hoop and leis for participating guests. During the reception, have the MC or someone in the wedding party announce a special hip twist to the night's festivities. If anyone would like the newlyweds to kiss, he/she must hula with the hula hoop for 30 seconds! Now you know this game will produce some laughs! Garter the Gander The saying goes, "What's good for the goose is good for the gander" and what better way to show this off than with a gender switch on this timeless ritual! For this wedding game, pre-arrange to have the groom put on the garter (without anyone noticing, of course!). Sometime during the reception, gather all the single men and announce that the garter toss is about to begin. Have the groom act as though he will be revealing the garter on the bride. Now, flip the switch! Play frisky music as the groom begins to pull up his pant leg and hear the guests roar with laughter! Let the bride slowly take the garter off the groom...and the rest, they say, is history. Putter Up This is another great way to have your guests moving and swinging at your reception. All you need is a golf club, some putting green, and guests with a good swing! Let family and friends know at the onset of the night's celebrations that the newlyweds will only kiss if someone can get the golf ball into the hole! There will be plenty of laughs as guests attempt to putt their way into wedding bliss history! For an added touch, bring along a green jacket (homage to a famous golf tournament) to be worn by the first person to get a hole-in-one! We are definitely going to do a twist on the latter-- we are going to make people get a hole-in-one before we kiss. (As the "dinging" is soooo insane during a wedding, and I don't believe it is worth a kiss.) DH is a HUGE golfer, so this is a must. I hope this gives you some fun ideas.
  23. Hey Dianne! I am sooooo glad that everything worked out well. And I definitely agree the piece of mind is priceless. All the best during your planning. I'm sure it'll be an amazing time. Congrats on getting it all worked out.
  24. OKay-- so I can't upload my photos (Comp issues) However I was able to put my happiest wedding day photo into my siggy. I (Okay FINE... it's from TTD) hope you enjoy!
