  1. We worked out our fee for our extra people based on the food choices. Basically, each extra person over the 20 included in our package was supposed to be $70. That was laid out very clear. However, they arrive at that price based on the food. I picked most of my dinner from the Silver Menu, as ooposed to the Gold, and so my WC reduced the price per extra person to $55. If there was nothing stated from the beginning about fees for extra people, I guess they can do whatever they want - which totally sucks for you!!! Hopefully you can work it out!
  2. I found that Dreams (Los Cabos, in my experience) has all that is included in their packages laid out very clearly. I expected that if I asked for anything not stated there, then it would cost more. I would hope that they have given you some sort of package with the details (in writing!) that lays everything out for you ..... ????
  3. I returned from Dreams last week and there was no fee for my photographer, an outside vendor.
  4. Thanks ladies!!! I am back and completely exhausted, but everything was 100% fabulous. I will share .....AFTER I get some sleep!
  5. OMG! You sound just like me!! I leave tomorrow and JUST got the gifts for the girls this week. I ended up getting them each a watch, all different based on their style. Then I got a little travel journal to go with them and also paid for the material for their dresses.
  6. I bought Makeup Forever HD foundation and the eyeliner as well, from Sephora. I tested them both out at my bachelorette party, which was on a boat. So not only was I hot and sweating all day, but I also went swimming in the freezing cold water for about 20 minutes. It stayed on extremely well! It is expensive, but I'd say worth it.

I actually just made them up, including the corny little rhyme! LOL! I have attached the file here for you (I think - I hope... I've never actually attached a file before) - feel free to use and change as you wish!
  8. I waited too - I wanted my parents, close family and friends to know first ....not all the randoms I went to high school with and barely talk to anymore! To each their own though. This is the day and age of technology!
  9. And finally, I just couldn’t leave out Enrique, the “firefighter”, who came to visit me at my shower/bachelorette thrown by some of my girlfriends!!! Cheers ladies!!!
  10. DIY Menus: The frame with stand was purchased from Ikea for 0.99 cents. I wasn’t really sure what to do exactly, but this is how they turned out. DIY Programs: Thanks to Cassie for the template! Tshirt for Groom: Tshirt for me: Thank You Sign from VistaPrint: It was free, so I thought we might somehow be able to use it during our TTD. Perhaps get a picture of us holding it and put it on thank you cards or something?? Not really too sure yet! AHR: My AHR is being held in Cambridge, Ontario at The Pines Our invitations above included all the info about the AHR as well, and the RSVP card. It’s a cocktail reception, so drinks, apps, and a late night buffet. We’re going to put together a slideshow of pics/video from Cabo and drink and dance the night away! Guestbook for AHR: I ordered this from Etsy and thought it was too cute – especially the little sign that goes with it. I just hope everyone at our AHR will actually do it! Favours: At our AHR, we’ll be giving out little favour boxes filled with 4 Lindt chocolates. The boxes will be tied with ribbon that says “From The Mr. & Mrs.” I found it at Michael’s and figured it was appropriate since we’ll already be married!
  11. We’re also throwing a bunch of little things in Ziplocs with a little tag that says Wedding Week Survival Kit (Tylenol, bandaids, Immodium, Tums, hand sanitizer, wipes, along with the Shout wipes and Kleenex). I owe a HUGE thank you to Kat who sent me her leftover OOT stuff from Montana as a wedding gift! She is the best!!!! Flower inspiration: Inspiration for my bouquet: This changed a million times!!!!!! I didn’t want to spend a ton on flowers, so this is what I ended up picking for me, but they are going to add in some ivory roses to go with my dress and the girls bouquets. Inspiration for the girls’ bouquets: Guys: Cream rose boutonnieres – nothing too fancy. I didn’t even have a picture – just told the florist to make it as manly as possible with some greenery in the background. Hair & Makeup Inspiration: I am so all over about this, but I pretty much keep coming back to this. I just want something up, loose and beachy. Again, all over the place with makeup …. but I will be wearing it and these are a couple of the pictures I have to bring with me Cake Inspiration: Cake topper: “D” Monogram Cake boxes for people to take a piece back to their room: DIY Bride & Groom Signs: I promise to update this part if these actually get done! At this point, I am not sure they will. It’s a DIY project that involves wooden signs, crackle spray paint and Bride and Groom stencils in script – inspired by Amy’s (KittenHeart) signs from etsy!
  12. Here are the tags we are attaching to them: The contents are as follows: Welcome letter: Beach towels from IKEA (not the best quality, but they’ll do!) Mugs from Discount Mugs Logo: Photoshare cards (made on VistaPrint) Beach balls (found for 0.39 cents each!!!  ) Playing cards: Shout Wipes: Monogram Kleenex:
  13. Jewelry: I found my jewelry on sale at Macy’s during a shopping trip to the States. Earrings: Bracelet(s): Not sure which one I am going to wear yet ….probably the gold Shoes: I bought these shoes from ALDO. They are NOT the ones I REALLY want … however, unless I hear from J. Crew in the next 2 days, they are what I will be wearing. Groom’s Outfit: Linen pants from Banana Republic Shirt from H&M My FI specifically said do not post this picture on the internet!! So shhhh…..  Bridesmaid Dresses: Inspiration was the TwoBirds Bridesmaid dress, which I loved, but it’s a super simple pattern sold for a lot of money. I asked around to people I know for recommendations of seamstresses and found a lady willing to make our BM dresses. I have no preference as to how they tie the straps, so at this point, one will wear it strapless, one halter and the other on shoulder. Here is one of the girls at the 2nd to last fitting : The girls will be wearing silver shoes and jewelry of their choice. Groomsmen Outfits: Same linen pants as groom from Banana Republic White shirts from American Eagle Outfitters (of all places!), similar to groom’s shirt Wedding Party Gifts: For the guys: We bought them their outfits and a money clip with their initials engraved on it. For the girls: I had such a hard time with this. My sister told me she didn’t want her dress paid for as a gift! I ended up purchasing the material for the dresses (we had them made), a cheapy travel journal from Michael’s and a watch (different one for each girl). Here are two of the watches – didn’t get a chance to take a pic of the other two. OOT Bags: Our OOT bags came from the Dollar Tree.
  14. Dress: I searched and searched and searched! I didn’t end up going back to the first one either. I finally found what I wanted … plain, classic and elegant. The fanciest thing about my dress is probably the covered buttons down the back. I love it though! This is at my last fitting. Excuse all the wrinkles! TTD: My mom refused to let me wear the dress she bought me in the water, so I purchased this dress for $99 from David’s Bridal (that is, after I bought a Jim Hjelm replica from China that I didn’t really love on me – it’s still for sale!). Yep, I know it sort of makes me look pregnant – I told my photographer that she will have to work her magic and make me NOT look pregnant! These pics are before alterations, although not much has been done to it. I just had it taken in at the top a little bit. Veil: I didn’t want one at first, then I decided that I did and thought it should be lace. Then I found this one and thought it went with my dress perfectly (though it’s hard to tell in this picture!) Garter: My mom loves to crochet, so she made me a crocheted garter! Hair Flower: Not sure if I am going to wear this or not …. but I bought it just in case! Wedding Bands:
  15. Everyone says it, but I truly cannot believe my time has come. Without this amazing forum, I don’t know where I’d be – definitely without inspiration and a sea of attempted DIY projects! I can’t say I’ve loved every minute of planning, but I HAVE loved my time here – especially time well wasted in the SB! Thank you so much; to Tammy for operating the forum, to the SB ladies for their support, always, and to every one of you who maybe I have never even talked to, for sharing your ideas and honest opinions (some of which I have probably borrowed!!!). So, here is my planning thread. I had no idea what I was doing. Ask anyone and they will tell you I am the most indecisive person ever, so I really hope somehow it will all come together. Regardless, I am beyond excited to marry the man of my dreams! Engagement: T proposed to me on the beach in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic on July 12, 2008. Although we’d been together for over 6 years, it was completely unexpected because we had just bought a house. Little did I know he had the ring for quite some time. He says he was just waiting for the perfect moment Us, after he proposed!: The ring: Wedding Location: We will be married at Dreams Los Cabos, at the gazebo, at 6pm on July 28th, 2010. Save The Date postcards: Made this using one of our engagement photos and had them printed by Vista Print Invitations: My MOH is a graphic designer and made my invitations for me. I love how they turned out!!! I posted a thread about them here as well: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...ly-done-57053/ Pre-Wedding Package: Brochure about Cabo printed at Vistaprint (thanks to Amy&Andy for her template!), a packing list and a luggage tag More to come...
  16. We got a travel agent and did the whole group rate thing. The company my agent goes through is Sunquest and honestly, they suck. However, they CAN because they are one of the few companies that provide flight and accommodation packages to Mexico and the Caribbean. We are flying on WestJet which I know will be wonderful. Originally, it was SkyService but then they went under, so WestJet stepped in and saved us! The group rate we've found was not really a great deal. We could book now and pay almost less than what we're paying. At one point, we could've paid $800 less per person! However, we also knew we didn't want to take any chances with our wedding. It is what it is and when I am in Cabo at Dreams a week from now, I won't have a care in the world!!!! Good luck!
  17. I thought I would add to this, since I recently bought the 3D strips. I used them one time for about 25 mins. I have super sensitive teeth, so it was really all I could take. I went to the dentist 4 days later and my hygenist asked me if I'd whitened my teeth. I was like, "umm, well yes, for a total of 25 minutes!" Even she was wowed! She said if I don't have time to do it again, I shouldn't worry because she said my teeth are nice and bright for the wedding! I think I will try and do it a couple more times, because they do definitely work!
  18. You guys have taken this and just ran with it. Kudos! I, on the other hand, totally gave up!!! I just don't have the time or energy left to put into it, so hopefully some other bride might be able to use this as a jumping off point. I did try to put the feather around the inside of the vase, but couldn't get it to stay. For any brides wondering though, the resort I am going to (Dreams Los Cabos) said they'd only charge $15 per centrepiece for it. A lot better than the $70 I am paying now Thanks for your input!!!
  19. Congratulations!!!!! It will be wonderful! Can't wait for your review!
  20. So close!!!!! We leave on the 24th ..... get married on the 28th I am still working on finishing up OOT bags...have another dress fitting tomorrow (probably one more to go after that!!!), need to finish program, place cards, load iPod. I finally decided on flowers, which was a huge dilemma for me. Everything I really wanted was too expensive! Oh well! It is what it is and I will still love them, I'm sure!
  21. Thanks for the ideas, ladies! I am going to have to work on some of them and see if I can pull something together........or maybe just hand it off to someone else!
  22. I wasn't planning on having centrepieces at all, but now only 2 weeks away, I feel like I need something!?! My colours are blues/greens, so I came up with the idea of using limes and peacock feathers together. I did a mock up today and this is how it turned out. I am honestly not really sure what I think of it! I mean, it's pretty plain....was definitely easy. I feel like the limes could be placed a little better. If I decide to go with this, I may have the florist do it...if they will. I suppose I could always change the peacock feathers to flowers too. Anyway, just thought I'd share with you. Here is a pic:
