  1. Ritani maybe? Engagement Rings | Designer Engagement Rings by RITANI
  2. So we're still unsure of where we want to be married, and since I'm such a Disney freak, we thought that maybe we could get married at WDW. FI has been there before as a kid and loved it, and it's still a DW for us, because we're all the way up here in Newfoundland. ANYWAY, I'm wondering what you ladies have heard about Disney Weddings. I've gone to a couple of travel agencies here, and all I get is "Oh, it's too expensive, you don't want to go there. Cuba is nice!" I get it, I'm young, and I walk around wearing jeans and a Slayer hoodie. That doesn't mean I'm poor. And besides, who says I'm paying for it? They just refuse to give me any information because I'm "young and stupid" (all of the travel agents I've seen are females in their 50's and 60's with small-town minds). I ordered the information package from their website, but it's taking YEARS to show up. So I thought I'd get some input from you fabulous gals TIA!
  3. That's awesome! Congratulations!!
  4. Ugh. I hear ya honey! I get the SAME thing. I'll always refer to him as my fiancé, and he'll do the same for me, and we get girlfriend/boyfriend or husband/wife. There's a transitional stage in between people! You don't just go straight from boyfriend and girlfriend to husband and wife (unless it's a shotgun wedding I suppose lol). So now a lot of the times I refer to him as my husband. We're already common-law, so to call him a boyfriend feels... demeaning...

Everyone knows him as the big guy that was always found at the Plaza lol It's funny how usually when you meet another Newfie, there's at least ONE person that you both know lol Even moving here to St. John's, I have at least one person in common with EVERYONE in my class lol It's hilarious! And I agree with changing this to a Newfoundland thread, we've already hijacked the heck out of it anyway lol

I don't think he's related to anyone named Monique though... His family are actually the only Lewis' that he's related to in Corner Brook. His first name is Marc and he's about 6'8". And I know of the Merrigans, Gerard Merrigan rings a bell. And my mom knows Lynnette actually, I know of her. My mom is actually a Billard from Margaree It's a very small world indeed lol
  7. FFIL has had about 2% body fat his entire life, so he thinks a good, brisk walk up Signal Hill will make the pounds just melt off. Sorry buddy, been there, done that. I agree that eating well and exercising is important, and I actually eat really well, but exercise gets a LITTLE difficult when you can't breathe. I need a puffer just to get up two flights of stairs at school. I am worried about my health though, and this is a change I've wanted to make for a long time. It's just frustrating to hear from someone who has never been overweight and have them think it's just me being lazy and not wanting to change. *sigh* Thanks for listening ladies. And thanks for the well wishes And if my doctor said "Oh, you should just get surgery" I think I'd have to strangle him...
  8. I'll answer the last two... What we do in life, echoes in eternity. - GLADIATOR! I don't need you to tell me how fucking good my coffee is, okay? I'm the one who buys it. I know how good it is. - PULP FICTION! NEW QUOTE!! "Listen, loyalty is very touching, but it is not the most important thing in your life right now! But what IS important is gravity! I have to remind you Sully, this is my weak arm!"
  9. I just wish she had told me how many... In case you haven't guessed, I'm having a bad day... Side note: Auntie from the Red River Valley is arriving this weekend. Yuck. So forgive me if I'm a little over-emotional. Okay, so I go to the doctor today and for a second time, explain the whole "I can't lose weight, WTF is going on?" and he adds thyroid function tests to my already ridiculous list of bloodwork to be done. No big deal, glad he's finally checking for that. Then, I tell him how my ankles have been swelling like balloons since I took anaprox over two months ago. He adds kidney-function tests to the list. Again, glad it's being checked. So, being the stupid female that I am, I ask if I can step on the scale and check my weight. BIG MISTAKE! Swollen ankles and all, I'm 50 lbs over what I thought I was. DEVASTATED! Abso-f*ckin-lutely devastated! So I silently freak out the whole day, and then FFIL asks about the Dr.'s appointment today. I tell him about how I may have asthma, and I need a pulmonary function test done, along with a multitude of bloodwork, thyroid test and kidney function. During the asthma talk, I mention how the Dr. thought maybe my shortness of breath was due to being overweight. He replies with: "Well, how much weight do you figure you have to lose?" Me: "I'd say 160lbs at least." Him: "Well, you're just going to have to go for a walk every day, stop eating junk and eat regular meals." Yeah, because it's THAT easy!!! If it was that easy, wouldn't we all be the perfect size?!? He KNOWS that I've gone through HELL with my weight. I was on the basketball team all through High School, didn't lose a pound. I was a vegetarian for over two years, didn't lose a pound. Took the stairs (4 flights) at school every day for three years, didn't lose a pound. If it was that easy, I would have at least lost FIVE pounds during any of those periods, but I didn't lose ONE! Not ONE! 280lbs as long as I can remember, no change, and now all of a sudden I'm 329! WTF happened? I know it's likely because of the fluid, but my clothes still fit, they're just a little tight, but not 50lbs tight. Why gain weight now? This fluid, along with a blistered toe on each foot, doesn't exactly make it easy to lose weight. I didn't gain this overnight, and I sure as hell can't lose it overnight either! I'm trying to pick what's left of my self-esteem up off the floor and get motivated to try and lose some of this weight, and then I get "Oh, well eat regular meals and go for a walk." I'm going to go eat my weight in chocolate...
  10. Newfoundland is really slow-paced, even here in St. John's. But I kinda like it that way I'm originally from the SW coast (Port-aux-Basques area) and FI is from Corner Brook. I wouldn't be able to live in my hometown, even my parents are moving out of there, but St. John's is perfect for me right now. Then again, coming from a population of 800 (yes hundred, not thousand) to over 100,000 was a little nuts lol But I will say, some of the best scenery is on the west coast. I miss the table mountains...
  11. I've tried sparkpeople, but I didn't find that it helped any. Maybe I just didn't use it enough. And I'm slowly cutting out soda. I still drink 7-up about 2 or 3 times a week because I drink it with cranberry juice (I can't drink that stuff by itself, I'm a wuss! lol) and I've been eating REALLY healthy lately, and haven't lost a damn pound lol And for the past 7 weeks I've been taking the stairs at school (and there are a LOT of them, trust me lol), but I have asthma and get winded really easy, so I have to take my puffer when I get to the top. But I'm still doing it dammit, I don't care! lol It's just really frustrating to make these "smaller" changes and not see the scale move at all, and my sister has been just following the WW diet, no exercise at all, and she's on her way to losing 50 lbs (But she was around 400lbs in the beginning, so maybe it would affect her more because she's bigger?) I just think I need to build to something hardcore, and do it one step at a time. The gym I'm thinking about going to is Nubody's, and they have a bunch of different classes I can take, plus I can get a personal trainer to help for the first couple of months. I just really don't understand why the damn scale won't budge, it's kind of depressing. I may keep up with BDW Biggest Loser when actually start LOSING weight lol And I'll likely be in for Season 7 when/if it starts
  12. Okay ladies, my motivation has finally returned! I was ready to get up and go about two months ago, and then I sprained my knee. So needless to say, my "get up and go" got up and left... But now, it's back! I'm sick of feeling like crap every day, so I'm doing something about it! But there are so many choices! What should I do? My mom and sister have joined Weight Watchers, which is $15/week ($60/month) and have had some success, but I still have to exercise on my own. Curves is just down the street, and it's $30/month to start. FMIL did it and found it was great, but you have to do the circuit and do EVERY exercise. I'm not sure if my knees can take some of those machines... She had to stop going because of her knees too. There's also a gym just down the street, and it's $20-$25/month. But am I really going to want to sweat my ass off with a bunch of strangers? And then there are home videos and equipment and such, which can cost anywhere from $10 to $1000, but it's a one-time cost. I can do it at home, but am I really going to be motivated going it alone? I don't have a lot of room in my apartment as it is, and it's just too tempting to walk over to the fridge and grab something while I'm working out. So what do you guys think? I've got a substantial amount of weight to lose (130 lbs or so) and I'm not sure I'm even able to do it (I don't mean willpower wise, I mean physically). I'm getting a bunch of bloodwork done on Monday because I haven't lost or gained a pound in about 8 years, even after being a vegetarian for two years. I've been this size forever, and clothes that fit me in High School still fit, but in my case that's not a good thing. Help? lol

  14. Savannah, that is just CREEPY! I'd like to just go get a "reading" to see what they have to say, but there are a lot of flakes out there...
  15. I'm going to bawl like a baby, but everyone knows I'm a "sook", so they're expecting it lol And if I had to dance with my Dad to "I loved her first", everyone would need to wear rubber boots because I'd FLOOD the place lol
  16. Holy crap! I would have BAWLED if that was me. First because I was scared, then because I'd realize how much I'd have to pay to fix the car lol And I definitely would have laughed about the organ donor thing too, you're not alone. I'm glad to hear you're alright though Someone was definitely looking out for you that day!
  17. Guys really don't understand the concept of "Anniversary" very well lol I know it sucks that FI is going to be gone for yet ANOTHER anniversary, but maybe you guys could do something special that weekend when he gets back? Or even before he goes? It royally sucks, I know, I've been in that position for birthdays and anniversaries too, not so much that FI is gone, but that I've worked mornings and he's worked nights, so we just had no time to spend together until later in the week or even later in the month. I'd say ask if he can change it, and if he can't then grin and bear it and make sure he keeps that promise that he's going to make it up to you. If not, it's sofaville for the next month bud lol
  18. Yeah, everyone has heard of Dildo, as I said, my two sisters live there, plus FI has family out around that way too so it's not anything strange to them. And even if it was strange, big deal. I don't mind people having a snicker on my behalf lol We're not having it in Dildo anymore though. Possibly an AHR or something, but we've changed back to a DW
  19. I thought it was something in his hands too, but I think maybe that's his bowtie? SO cute btw. And great story to go along with it

  21. I just started, and I have a LONG wait before the wedding (3 years O_o) so I'm doing about 10 at a time, I've got probably 100 done. It's funny how you just do it automatically after a while. You're watching TV or something and look down and all of a sudden you're surrounded by cranes lol
  22. I'm actually doing this too Not because of any family traditions, I'm caucasian through-and-through, and FI is native, I just think it's a great way to prove my devotion to him. And I'm writing a special wish on the 1000th crane

Sorry, couldn't help myself lol
  24. FMIL went to a psychic a few years ago and they told her that her son would find a dark-haired girl, and she had something to do with the medical field, and that they would be best friends and she was the one that he would marry. When I met Marc my hair was dyed black and I was in nursing school lol And it wasn't "Well, maybe he leaned towards me because of what the psychic said" or any of that crap, his mother didn't tell us that until AFTER we were engaged lmao So coincidence? Maybe, but a kinda freaky one lol
