  1. I think I was still asleep when I posted this. I've now figured out how to make them bigger. I also added a couple that I missed the first time.
  2. We drove out to my family's cottage with our photographer on Tuesday. Despite the insane wind and total cloud cover, I think we got some pretty good shots.

I am also going to add a little blurb on our wedding website closer to the date.
  4. Nicole, I love your siggy pic!!! So cute! I was just about to update that we're getting ours done on Tuesday. I'm really excited, it'll be a good way to feel out our wedding photog too. I was in the states with my dad last week and I got some stuff done too. Picked up all 3 BM dresses (they fit!) Got travel candles for OOT bags (on sale at Michaels for .22) Bought sand ceremony set (still need sand) Bought shout wipes for OOT bags (4/$1) Oh yeah, I also bought my shoes for the wedding! I'll try to find the pictures of the dresses and shoes.
  5. I'm looking for hot pink/fuscia and chocolate brown sand. Anyone have some left over, or know a good place to order from?
  6. I really like office as well. My computer is loaned to me through my school so I really don't have a choice in software. What I am missing is a good photo editing tool, photoshop is super handy if you use a digital camera at all.
  7. Amarillis, Have you decided where you are getting your travel mugs done? I've been looking around but everywhere is pretty pricey. I'm trying to find somewhere Canadian too, to cut down on shipping costs. Let me know if you've got a good lead!

I think we're going to hit up the Bay and see what they have b/c the sales are great and I found some really nice designer pants for him there in the past. Probably going to go to Harry Rosen last if we can't find anything for him to wear....Good luck shopping! So far I'm the the only one who has anything to wear to the wedding including my FI, the GM. my BM and both mothers of the bride. Looks like we're going to have a naked wedding! So ladies, I got my flowers in the mail yesterday (my bouquet, my hubby-to-be's bout, and a matching flower for my hair) and they are really pretty! Here are the photos she sent me before she shipped: She is an ebay seller and my flowers are orchids and plumerias. When I first opened up the box I was so surprised because it was way smaller than it looks in the pics, but it's cause it flattened out during shipping. I played with them a bit and fluffed them up nicely. I really love them! Your flowers are gorgeous! I think I'll head out to the bay tonight. Yikes, feeling a little overwhelmed this morning!
  9. I didn't make near the progress Nicole did, but...FI and I bought a condo! We don't live together and we won't be moving in together until we're married so we're pretty darn excited about it!! Anyone know a good place in Canada to shop for dark brown linen pants? I'm getting a little nervous that with school starting again and now house stuff to deal with, there is going to be very little time left over for wedding planning.
  10. To my dear friend ____ (insert name if you know), please accept these gifts from your Canadian friends, A&C. Queridos amigos, reciban estos obsequios de parte de sus amigos de Canada, A&C.

In the past we have brought: - toiletries, - medical supplies (bandaids, antiseptics) - makeup (the ladies LOVE this) - I gave one of the fantastic showgirls a palatte of eyeshadow and thought she was gonna faint! - baby supplies - soothers, powders, etc This year we are bringing our dear Cuban friends a stroller a really nice one that you or I would register for when it is our turn to have a baby... *they are free to take on the plane b/c they are classified as sporting goods **b/c one of those $20 Walmart Umbrella style strollers cost upwards of $60-$80 CUC's Thus Cubans who have babies don't generally have strollers, b/c even if you could afford one - who would pay $60 for an umbrella stroller really? Another cool items to bring - guitar strings or picks for the musicians! I think bringing gifts is really thoughtful and appreciated. NOTE: I have heard that some resorts will not allow employees to take gifts without a note - to be sure I have always left a note stating. To my dear friend ____ (insert name if you know), please accept these gifts from your Canadian friends, A&C. I wish I had a good version of the above in Spanish.... can anyone translate that? Wow, you've given me some really great ideas! Thanks for taking the time I'm hanging out with a spanish speaking friend tonight, I'll get her to translate that for me. I'll post it up here to share with you.
  12. I bought my FI a guitar. He's has been using a beautiful guitar lent to him from another musician friend. I swear he loves this guitar almost as much as he loves me. He keeps joking that he's going to keep the it, he even had it insured the other day. Little does he know that for now, I'm the one who owns the guitar. I plan to have it waiting for him when we get home from our honeymoon. I might give him a card with a picture of it inside on our wedding day. I wouldn't want to risk bringing the guitar to cuba.
  13. If it helps you at all, the initial wedding quote we got for the ceremony at Playa Pesquero was quite high but when we clarified that we only wanted a symbolic ceremony the price came down to $300. Also, the reception (we chose the beach bbq) is only costing $35 CUC per person. We found this to be really reasonable. If you need any more info on this resort, I should still have most of it in my email account. Good luck with your choosing, I hope you're able to get the destination of your dreams!
  14. I wish you were getting married in Cuba! I don't even have a fraction of the information about our resort and area that you had. I'm sure our guests would appreciate it. Unfortunately we will not be able to do a site visit, I guess we'll all just have to figure it out together. Great job, your guests are going to feel so welcome!
  15. Wow, that sounds amazing and so romantic. The MTV episode will be such a great way of remembering your special day. I hope they were able capture even a portion of the beauty and emotion that you must have felt that day.
  16. I've heard that people often bring gifts to use as tips for the hotel staff. Has anyone done this? What are good items to bring?
  17. Those look so great! I haven't tried the smaller ones yet but I did try the large ones. I used standard tissue paper for gift wrapping from the Dollarama. They have tons of colors and for $1 a package you can't beat the price. I'm planning on doing as much of the assembly ahead of time as I can. My parents and FI sisters have already committed to helping with the "fluffing" while we're in Cuba.
  18. We're getting married at the Playa Pesquero in Hoguin on January 19th, 2009. We're bringing a photographer from home and I think he's really good. He's giving us a really good deal as well. You can check out his website at The Photography of Dan Harper - Who? We might be interested in sharing him, I guess that is, if he's into doing more than one wedding.
  19. Wow, I'm going to have to agree with pretty much everyone else. The third dress is beautiful and very flattering! You have a great figure!
  20. Yeah, I cut them out because I actually purchased their dresses that they're wearing in the picture. They ended up not really like them and since then we've got all new dresses. They're now chocolate brown, strapless, A-line dresses with a modest bubble hem. They look really pretty and I'm glad to have one more thing done.
  21. I found a great website today. ALDO shoes has lots of cute sandals on sale too! I think this will work if you cut and paste it. ALDO shoes women's & men's sale items ALDO shoes, boots, sandals and accessories are on sale now.
  22. Good for you! You must be so pumped! Are you gonna celebrate this occasion? I find spending a little money always helps me celebrate I'm also counting down till the end of car payments. I believe my last one is in October. It will feel so great to re-allocate this money to saving for a house and paying off student loans!
  23. Yikes, I am definitely not the expert on this, just killing time on the forum today. Here in Manitoba the we have a cash bar or people buy drink tickets. You can make a bunch of cash off of the drinks too! In the past I've heard people who are offended by this kind of "cash grabbing" but here its super popular and people know exactly what to expect. Socials are also held for various groups and causes. Sometimes everyone needs a little financial help, I say why not have a huge party doing it!!
