  1. We absolutely loved PP but it did not feel small and intimate at all. It really is enormous! The good thing was that the lobby bar is pretty much the only place to go at night so it became a great gathering place at night. During the day you could wander around all day and not bump into anyone from your group. We kinda liked that about it. Unless you made plans to meet with people you really were able to have your own holiday. We really loved PP, the food was good, wedding was beautiful, and rooms were quite nice. Good luck with finding your perfect destination! Quote: Originally Posted by bholthof To anyone who has been here before: Did the resort feel small and intimate, and was it easy to negotiate? My family really prefers small, more intimate places - I don't want any of them to feel lost at such a large place!! Or crammed into a small space with tons of people... Thoughts?? Thanks.
  2. I am allergic to gold as well, but it's more the nickel alloy in the gold or white gold that's the problem. Even just trying engagement rings on gave me a rash (little blisters that itch then eventually get dry and more itchy). The rings we ended up buying were palladium, which has palladium alloy instead of nickel. They've been totally fine
  3. I brought my own flowers to Cuba as well. We all just brought them in our carryon and they travelled well. These flowers were ordered from Angels Accents and I absolutely loved them. They might give you some ideas or are also for sale if you're interested.

She could feel the blood rushing to her head and afterwards felt ill. Poor girl. Turned me off from wanting to get one. Very awkward. We thought it was going to be a "couples" massage but they had us go in separate areas, like across the pool in little huts that were locked with padlocks. My husbands female masseuse talked on the phone the whole time and my male masseuse didn't even leave the room when I got undressed. He just kinda turned away. Then he answered the door and started talking to some other guy while he was massaging me. SO WEIRD! We were both relieved when it was over
  5. Wow, that dress is beautiful! Can't wait to see a picture of you in it!
  6. These were my flowers. We brought them with us and ordered corsages and bout's for family and groomsmen but they never showed up. It was kind of sad b/c the groom and his groomsmen were wearing the exact same outfit. Would have been nice is DH had a corsage to make him stand out a little. We were compensated with the most awkward massages ever! Oh well, I was really glad I brought my own flowers! p.s. my flowers are still for sale if anyone's interested
  7. I really love to second dress too, plus it looks like it'll be a lot more comfortable!

We had wine and champagne service all evening at no extra charge. We also requested tequila shots which they set up for us. Not everyone did them but they were sure fun!
  9. Our beach BBQ started at 6:30. Our ceremony was at 2 but I have a feeling that doesn't change the reception time at all. I am feeling so sad for everyone that has had to cancel their wedding due to swine flu. I suspose it is for their own safety but it must be very difficult and stressful. Anyway I must get some zzzzzzzzzz's - till next time.
  10. I have one I'd be willing to sell you. I'd sell it for $5 plus shipping. I think it'll be around $10 all together. I live in Manitoba so shipping shouldn't be too bad. Send me a PM if you're interested!
  11. Not so much for the ceremony, but I've heard lots of girls doing stuff like having cigar rollers or tequila tastings at their reception. I know we did tequila shots and it was really fun, I think the fact that it was my idea surprised everyone!

I initially refused but she told me to trust her, which I did (eventually), and as soon as she had it all clipped up the back, I was speechless. We walked out to my mom, my sister (MOH) and my bridesmaid and they all got tears in their eyes when they saw me in it. I think I've found my dress!!! Wow your dress is gorgeous and looks amazing on your body!!!
  13. Oh yeah, our dinner was at the Italian restaurant and the price was included in the All Inclusive. So for us, FREE!!!

The only pain was that I had to run around getting everyone's room numbers when we arrived for the reservation. Not exactly a stress free arrival when everyone wants to go explore and you're running around getting all their info. We also made the reservation for a bit later (7:30) so people had time to take a nap after a long day of traveling. Connie

As I know she's busy perhaps someone here can answer a couple of questions? For the wedding do you know if they charge a per person fee (I want to do the beach BBQ)? Do they charge for outside vendors to come in? I'm planning on having one of my close friends take pictures but she is a professional photographer. And I haven't been to Cuba yet so I really appreciate the information about the food. That's one of the reasons we chose Cuba: neither myself or my fiance have been there and I think it'll make it more special. Lori We paid approx $40 Canadian per person for the beach BBQ. We also only had a symbolic ceremony which cost about $300. We brought our photographer and it was no problem at all. We thought the food was excellent. There are two large buffets and 7 a la care restaurants. You can only go to 4 of the dinner ones and you need reservations. We found it impossible to book any restaurant for our whole group other than the welcome dinner which I arranged with Yaly ahead of time. Once you do get into the restaurants we found the food to be pretty good. Nothing outstanding but no one was complaining of being hungry and there was always lots of variety. During the day there are a number of restaurants open where you don't need reservations and the food is delicious. One particular rest. only serves chicken dishes but they are awesome! If you have any other questions, fire away! Connie

Connie, I just saw you posted your after-wedding items for sale! You've got some great stuff; I'm sure it won't take long for you to sell all of it. Plus, paypal is super easy. Thanks, I'm glad you're telling me paypal is easy. I've sent money before but have no idea how to receive it. Guess I have my work cut out for me today

  22. I just noticed they're selling some of this stuff at Michaels now. I made my own with supplies from Old Navy and Michaels.
  23. Hey ladies, glad to see you're finding my info. I was away for a bit with tons of school work and a little Vegas honeymoon trip. We had our wedding at 2 and reception at 6:30. It was definitely not to much time. Some of our guests went and sat by the pool, went swimming, had a late lunch at the buffet. The wedding party spent the entire time taking photos (we brought our own photographer). We had just enough time to run back to our room to make some hair changes and get freshened up for the reception. I think if you have even a little more time you'll be fine. Just remember your guests have free time on vacation and can eat and drink for free, I doubt anyone will be complaining. If you guys have more questions, I'm back! You're all getting so close to your weddings. Can't wait to hear about them and see all the pics! Connie
