  1. I like them ALL, but I guess that's not too much help. If I had to choose, I think I'd say #3, but I don't know if I'm being swayed by that model's actual hair being really pretty.... #1 is a close second for me. How's that for indecisive??
  2. It's between #1 and #2 for me too, but I'm voting for #1, because there's something about it. It looks extra amazing on you. I wouldn't worry too much about the satin. When it's really good quality, I don't think it's as much of a problem. My sister's wedding dress was satin, and it still looked fabulous at the end of the night.
  3. I totally agree about the flowered one - it's so cute! A bit much for 8 BM's though... Of course, now I'm thinking that for my TWO BM's, perhaps I should consider floral.... I hadn't even thought about that...

    shoes!

Glad to be of help! I LOVE them - they're gorgeous! I'm having the same thoughts about the height of mine, but I'm hoping they'll work out okay. I'm also having the same thought that even if I end up getting lower ones for the wedding, I'll still have an amazing pair of shoes. The height is a concern for the wedding though... I was thinking that maybe I'll get some comfy wedges to change into later in the evening. Then I can have the best of both worlds, and if the wedge is high enough, it won't be a problem in terms of the length of the hem.
  5. We got engaged on Valentine's Day and are getting married on October 4. That's just over 7 months. We had all of the major details (WC, ceremony location, officiant, reception, my dress) booked within the first month. Now it's just the details, and I can't imagine having more than 6 months to worry about that stuff. I'd go crazy! Our thinking was actually that the less time we took to plan the wedding, the less opportunity there would be to stress over it. For a detail oriented person like me, that's a good thing! I think that a DW in 5-6 months is more than do-able.
  6. Wow, that feels better!
  7. Dear Mother: 1. When are you going home? You've been here for 2 days and it feels like 2 years. 2. I'm sorry there's not enough toilet paper or tissues in my house for you. I'm pretty sure I could buy every single roll of toilet paper in the city and every single box of tissues, and you would still think we needed one more. I'm not sure what you do with the stuff. Are you just flushing it down the toilet for fun? Maybe you're using it to write lists of all the things "we" aren't doing right. I hope you don't think that I don't know that little "do 'we' need to go buy toilet paper tomorrow?" comment was a dig. 3. Just because I wanted to wait and order my veil later in the summer because we (i.e. the bride and groom) have spent a ton of money on wedding stuff in the last week doesn't mean we're broke! It means we think about our finances and actually have a budget. I realize this is difficult for you to understand since you have never understood the concept of managing money. On that note, I am a lawyer and part of senior management of a huge corporation. That means I can probably handle planning a wedding and managing a budget. 4. We don't care if you don't like our guest list. If you don't like it, you don't have to come. 5. Taking over the bridesmaid dress shopping day with your own quest for the more important mother of the bride dress will not make you a very popular mother of the bride. Leaving your daughters sitting outside a change room for 2 hours while you try on dresses you have no intention of buying because you say: (a) you need to lose 15 pounds before you even start thinking about your dress; and ( none of them are "mother of the bride" dresses anyway, will also not make you anyone's favourite mother of the bride. 6. Note the 3 words preceding "bride" in your title. It means you're not the bride. You're not the bride, and you're not the groom, so it's not your wedding. See points 4 and 5 above. 7. We (i.e. the bride and groom) are paying for this wedding. See points 4, 5 and 6 above. Much love, Sherry
  8. I've already posted mine on another thread, but I can't resist another opportunity to post them. Mine are the rose colour in the first pic. I can't wait to wear them. I think I might have to wear them to work a few times, just to break them in...
  9. That's so exciting - can't wait to see the pics!!!
  10. Thanks for posting this. I've been wanting to get some 'bride' stuff, but hadn't even thought about where to get it yet. Their stuff is so cute. I think I might order some today!
  11. I'm sorry to hear that happened to you. Glad to hear that you got it all worked out though! I can't imagine being that bride yesterday. That would be so unbelievably stressful.
  12. I have The Knot Destination Wedding guide book, and it says in there that most hotels have people onsite who can steam your dress for you, particularly if you are having any part of your wedding at the hotel. I'm going to confirm with our hotel (the Wailea Marriott), but I'm guessing I'll be able to get my dress steamed right there. They have valet dry cleaning listed as one of their services, so that seems like a good sign. Meanwhile, a friend of mine who got married on Maui a couple of years ago said she worried about getting her dress steamed, but then when they got to Maui, she just left her dress out hanging in the room for a few days, and all the wrinkles just fell out in the humidity! I'll definitely make sure I have the hotel ready to steam as a backup though.
  13. PS - I had been hoping to have MAC do my makeup on the day, but it looks like the MAC location nearest to Wailea/Kihei is in Kahului, and that seems like too long a drive to do on my wedding day!
  14. Just a further update. As I noted earlier, I've decided to use the salon at the Wailea Marriott, where we're having our ceremony, because a friend of mine had her wedding hair done there and was happy. I've since also decided that I'm going to do my own makeup, but I'm going to have MAC do at least a couple of trials for me before we leave for Hawaii. I'd like to think I'm pretty good at doing my own makeup, but I want them to put together an extra special look for me for my extra special day!
  15. Congrats and welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll love it!

    I'm new :)

Congrats and welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll love it!
  17. I haven't worked out in the past 3 days because I have the flu I'm so afraid that I'll lose all my momentum now
  18. I haven't been terribly concerned about flowers, because I think it's pretty hard to go wrong with flowers in Hawaii. I've decided on plumeria, to keep with the hawaiian theme. White plumeria for me: http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...ria-white2.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...aria-white.jpg and pink plumeria for my BMs: http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...meria-pink.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...eria-pink2.jpg
  19. I suppose I should get back to the original purpose of this blog: wedding planning! This week, I found my shoes. Mine are in the rose colour pictured first, but the pictures of the black ones are better quality. http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...ywendt/JC1.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...e_fr_Black.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h..._pro_Black.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...e_bk_Black.jpg
