I took Seasonale, which you are only supposed to have 4 periods/year, but I was a raging bitch while on that one, as well as Yaz in which I cried all the time. I then switched to Loestrin 24 in which my period was pretty much nonexistent, which I loved, but I would have PMS symptoms all through the month, they weren't bad, but it was annoying and there is not a generic for that one, so it was expensive even with insurance. So here I am, back on Alesse. I've just been back on it a month, but so far so good! Also, with the others, I felt like my sex drive was down, and my sex drive is never down! I'm back to myself now...haha Brooke, I've had the same experience with the low dose pills, with them making my preiod really short, so hopefully that's a good sign that Alesse will work for me too.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I think I'll try it out, but if I start feeling depressed or anything, I'll go back in and get my doctor to prescribe me something else. Maura, thanks for letting me know that. At least if I do start feelig depressed on it, I'll know why. I remember when I first started on tricyclen, I was really depressed at first, but then it got better, so I guess we'll see. My doctor said that the pill can affect different women in different ways, so who knows. I'm tempted to stay on my Diane 35 until the wedding though. I'm kind of worried about switching pills less than 6 months before the wedding. I've never had any problems with weight gain on the pill, and I've been on 3 different ones before, so I'm hoping that means it's not an issue for me with the pill, but I would really freak out if I gained weight from the pill, even more so if it was before my wedding!

Hey Girls, are any of you on the Alesse birth control pill? My doctor just switched me to it. I had been on Diane 35 for years, not for my skin, but for other advantages of it. I know the US docs are not as fond of that one, but they don't have as much of a problem with it in Canada. That said, my doctor said we might as well change my prescription, since I didn't need it for my skin. We talked about Alesse and Yazmin, and she recommended Alesse for me. I haven't started the prescription yet, so I'm hoping to get some feedback first from anyone on the forum who's using Alesse. Anyone have any comments?

I was feeling really organized for a while there, and now I feel like we're starting to get behind. We really need to get our invitations out. We're only inviting 30, so it was really easy to let them all know right away, so we didn't even bother with STD's. We're just going to send the invitations really early, and I've decided that I don't care if it's an etiquette taboo. We're making our own rules here. We need to get the invitations out though, because I don't think people really get their butts in gear about booking stuff until they have a real invitation or STD in their hands. Or maybe our guests are just disorganized! We haven't booked our rental car yet, so we'd better get on that too. Maybe I'll make that my task for the day! That, and getting over to the printers with the invitations. We have got to get off our duffs about that!

I totally ruined so many very special times thinking that my FI was going to do it, and then when he didn't, as much as I wanted to be cool about it, I'd end up being sad and then eventually mad at him. I ruined 2 Christmases, 2 trips to Europe and one of my birthdays that way. I always thought he was acting weird and that he was totally going to do it, but looking back, I was so projecting what I hoped he was doing! Finally, one of my friends sat me down and told me that I was pushing it away from me by fixating on it so much. She had done the same thing with her husband before they got engaged, and someone had the same talk with her. She pointed out that I was ruining the whole thing the way I was acting, and that it would be so much more special if I just let go, stopped thinking about it (very hard!) and let it happen when it happened. I ended up having a huge talk with my FI and apologized for the way I'd been acting and the pressure he'd obviously been feeling. I promised him that I wouldn't bring up the subject again until we were engaged. He was visibly relieved! It was so hard at first, but I did stop thinking about it. I figured it would be months and months before he proposed, maybe even a year. Then, maybe a month after we had this talk, he proposed on Valentine's day, and totally shocked me! I had NO IDEA it was coming, and it was so special. I'm now firmly of the view that as soon as you let go of the pressure, it happens so easily and so naturally and it's so special. Have a great time tomorrow, and if it happens, yay! If it doesn't, it will when it's right.

What Color Was Your Dress?
Sherry replied to Martha's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I chose champagne on the vote, but it's not exactly champagne. I think it's somewhere in between ivory and champagne. The designer called it ivory, but it's a lot darker than most ivory dresses I've seen. -
Picked up my dress today! PICS!

He used to be a pro football player....I learned that from a fellow bride, she loved him so much that she wanted too set him up with her home town hairdresser, assuming they are all gay...hahah. Jessica works with Dan all the time, so if you booked him, she's more than likely available! So DOESN'T answer you right away...but I think she writes the date down and then gets back to you later.. I see that we are a couple of weeks apart in our wedding dates....What do you have left to do I have flowers, cake and videographer...oh and a rental car....So I better get a move on! Talk to you soon... BB5 Thanks for the tip about Dan! I have to admit, I probably would have assumed, so good to know! He IS so great! I loved him right away. I did end up getting Jessica too. You're right about her not answering right away. Just when I was starting to sweat, I heard back from her, and I was so relieved! At this point, I think what I have left is flowers, cake and rental car. We booked our videographer a little while ago. We're having Hawaii Video Memories, and they seem pretty good. I was pretty impressed with the sample videos on their website. Their site is Maui Wedding Videos by Hawaii Video Memories if you want to check them out. As for flowers, I'm thinking white plumeria for me and pink plumeria for the BM's, but I'm not 100% yet. Since we have to use Maui Wedding Cakes for our cake at the Seawatch, that kind of made life easier. I still have no idea what cake to choose though. I guess I'd better get thinking about that... Talk to you soon!

Bobbi Brown oil-free even finish compact foundation is amazing, as is their loose powder and concealer (she makes the best face products) 3) then..before applying any eyeshadow pat a bit of MAC paint in "Stilife" on your whole lid (bottom to the brow bone). Work fast though because once this dries its hard to remove. 4)then apply any eyeshadow that you want. It will last all day, rain, shine, workout sweat, whatever. I have the type of skin that would just absorb eyeshadow (even worse sometimes it would crease). But this stuff is awesome! Don't be scared that it looks a bit white when you apply it, once you put eyeshadow over top it won't be there anymore. Ana, that's a great tip about MAC paint in Stillife! I can't believe I never knew about that before. I tried it out the other day, and it's amazing. Thanks for posting that tip!

Sarah, I'm so sorry to hear this happened to you. Have they fixed it yet? At this point, you might consider going to another salon to get it fixed. I know that really hurts from the financial point of view, not to mention just on principle, since they're the ones who made the mess in the first place. It sounds like they don't know what they're doing though! It might also make you feel better to go to another salon and tell all the stylists and their clientele what a bad job the other place did! Actually, I have an even better idea - call the first salon and tell them that's what you're going to do if they don't fix it right away. I'd also file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and make sure to tell the salon that you're doing so, especially because of the shampoo and conditioner that they sold you...

My makeup artist will use her makeup, but I'll have mine along for the rest of the trip and honeymoon anyway. Not a bad idea to find a mascara you really like beforehand, just in case. I'd push for a trial with the makeup artist if at all possible. I'm guessing that the makeup artist will be very accomodating (mine was!). It's kind of in their interest too to do a trial, I would think.

I booked my hairdresser and makeup artist this week, and I'm so excited! I had really been worrying about this, because I've been seeing my hairdresser at home forever, and one of the hardest parts (maybe the only downside for me!) of having a DW was that I wouldn't be able to have her do my hair for the wedding. On top of that, I had no idea where to even begin looking for a great hairdresser on Maui. Plus, there is only one MAC location on Maui, and it seemed too far from our ceremony location to be a realistic option for our wedding. I've always used MAC artists when getting my makeup done, so I was really nervous to use anyone else. I'd kind of resigned myself to having the hotel hairdresser do my hair and doing my makeup myself. This was a big disappointment for me, because I'm a TOTAL girly girl, and hair and makeup were pretty high priorities for me on the biggest day of my life. Then, BDW came to the rescue! In particular, BB5, a fellow Maui bride! She was so gracious as to recommend the hairdresser and makeup artist she'd found based on her research, and they are amazing!!! I've now booked both of them: Dan Sanchez for hair and Jessica Waite for makeup. Their portfolios are so impressive, and I'm so excited to work with them! The best part is that Jessica started out with MAC! I just can't believe how every little detail of our wedding has been falling together so easily. Thanks BB5!!
