  1. ROR supplies very little (location, a few basic decorations, brown chairs). Anything else that you want to do to personalize your decor is up to you. You can bring stuff with you and/or rent it there through the floral company that they use. Take a look around this site. There are a huge amount of ROR brides, and their planning threads and reviews will give you more answers than you ever wanted! For me, I brought most of my stuff, and had my chairs upgraded.
  2. We actually did this. 1. Don't count on the resort to have stamps. ROR was "out" the entire time we were there. 2. If they are out, you have to go to a post office in town. Its $20-$30 round trip!!! 3. Mail does get lost....especially going from another country. It can also take a lot of time to get to you!! So, what we did... We put the postcards on a table at the reception, then asked everyone to fill them out and place them in a wooden chest that we brought...and we just brought them home ourselves. We still haven't read them, but we have them all!
  3. Are you asking about cocktail our? If so, ours was $8.00 per person (I think. She gave us the 2008 rate because she forgot to send me the 2009 rates, so I had it in writing), but its more now. We had some salmon mousse on bread, grilled chicken skewers, something with tomatoes...cheese I think. Its been awhile Everyone was pleased. I just wanted to be able to eat something right after without going to a restaurant before my reception, so it worked out. I posted menus somewhere on here. I think its in the same folder as the ROR wedding dates.
  4. The pool is closed. There are walkways, but everyone (except one couple) were kind enough to use the walkway opposite of the reception area (there are 2 main walkways that flank the pool into the suites building).
  5. ROR allows fake ones. At least, at my wedding they did!
  6. Hi! You could hear the beach party a little, but it was not really a distraction. You could also see it if you looked to the right, leaning over the railing. Currently, I believe they are doing them on Saturday nights, but this may change from time to time (I think they might have been on Fridays at some point). I think maybeour guests left to walk down and check it out, but I am not sure, and it didn't bother me, since they came back. Yes, I believe the party includes fire dancers. Again, people are there for your wedding. There are other events that they will be able to experience. But, if you are worried, you may want to consider changing the day. Sat worked best for us since we had people coming for only 3 days, and travel costs for us was cheaper for Wed-Tues. The party does end around 11:30. We caught the very very tail end.

It lists ribs, chicken breast, beef, sausage and shrimp. Do you choose from these, or are they all part of the dinner? (I realize it's buffet) They are all a part of dinner. Its a buffet so they just cook the meat on the grill right there and then put it into chafing dishes on the buffet. I think it does vary though, becuase I don't remember sausages! But the shrimp was GOOD! 2. A few people have said that they recommend "upgrading" to the "jamaican" menu. What does this mean? Chandlyn didn't send me anything regarding a menu upgrade.. and I can't figure it out from this forum, can anybody fill me in? or direct me to an appropriate thread? I believe that the thread was provided in the next post. For 2009 the price is $55.00 per person. Not sure if there is a upgrade fee. You can tell her the menu you want when you arrive, or you can contact Chandlyn to inquire. Thanks!! Good luck with your planning!
  8. Not 100% sure, but out room and my parent's room were the same price, and were both JR Suites. Parent's room faced the mountains, tennis court and some ocean... Their views Ours faced the quiet pool/ocean Brother and SIL had more of a mountain view with a bit of ocean View from Aunt's "standard" ie. cheaper room - faced the ocean What it comes down to is, I don't think that there is a bad room in terms of views. They are all gorgeous views. We liked our room because we could see all of our guests from it if they were at the quiet pool. Our other friends had a room in building 2 (regular room) and they had the best views in town!! Striaght on to the ocean. I believe all of building 2 is standard rooms, all of 1 (I think) are Jr. Suites and all of 3 are standard (although I think there are full suites in there). HTH
  9. Ours went from about 7:00 - 11:00 since they took a little longer in setting up... Our guests just went to the lobby bar area and had some drinks. It worked out really well. We had appetizers after the ceremony (about 4:30-5:30) so there wasn't much time to wait around.
  10. The shaving hairs thing is more "normal" than I thought!! I have to ask him to PLEASE clean the sink and mirror when he is done. I get mad when I have JUST cleaned the bathroom and he does it. Also, he flosses and clips his nails in bed. Sometimes he just brushes the nails off the bed onto the carpet (he does this with the dog's nails too - I know, gross!). Then he says he will vaccuum them up tomorrow. Does he? NO!!! And, hes a scary driver. I always compliment him when we have gotten somewhere and I haven't had a heart attack or grabbed the oh S&%# Bar!! Last - ne NEVER wears his ring. He is really bad about remembering to put it on. I hide it sometimes What annoys him? Who knows I am really bad at decision making. And I get stressed fairly easily. Plus I am really really type A and I am sure it annoys him whe I re-do things that he has just done (ie. vaccuuming when he does that....re-stacking the dishes in the dishwasher).

I need to find that old post, because the things that this girl did, well.....http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t40959 That was before the wedding. You saw what happened during/after the wedding. It didn't stop there, but yes, we are all still friends. We get laughs from her and contend with the fact that she is insane. But DH is very good friends with her hubby, so she just comes with the package. She is not my #1 friend, but I am still nice to her. It takes a LOT for you to not be my friend. The last friend that "broke up" with me, broke up because we could not go to her wedding for very valid reasons....oh well.
  12. You are probably gone...but I left all the panes in. I had some sand left over, but I don't think that I bought nearly as much. Sand shouldn't be too expensive. Plus, you might need to dump the sand from the frame when you get home and re-do it (we had to). So the extra sandw ill come in handy.
  13. Heres a pic of my $5.00 white folding chairs with $2.00 sashes. $7 per chair total - worth it!!
  14. I think that they are bringing Phillip back because he was the most unusual of the pack and is a ig draw to a lot of people. They probably couldn't bring Phillip back and not Caitlyn.... I wonder how Evan's brother is going to do next season... Kathy - either way I am excited too!! Although I won't be able to download it til tomorrow night and by then I'll have already read it on here Oh well....
  15. Casey - Torrents are the way to go...the only way I can find full episodes. But they usually take a day or 2 to pop us, so I am always behind and usually spoil it for myself on here!! Also, you can usually find the individual dances on You Tube. Everyone else - Are they not doing 2 dances tonight Sometimes the first dance can be crappy, but if the 2nd dance is out of this world, I usually forget
  16. I think Rum Punch is standard after the ceremony. We chose to hold off on the champagne til the reception. We were not charged for either, as far as I know. Someone might have slipped them some $$ to serve more champagne, but I cannot be sure. If you want just champagne or Rum Punch, I believe this is included.
  17. Thanks so much for sharing! You looked beautiful and everyone looked like they had such a great time. Don't you just want to go back to Jamaica?!

They were just too expensive for flowers that would wilt that day!! I wanted bright, vibrant flowers that would last. Also, I wanted to keep my flowers forever. If I had gone real, they would have been too far gone to preserve, and I might not have been able to bring them back into the US. Making the decision to purchase fake flowers was really easy! Other than that, I am sure that Tai is fine. They are fairly expensive, though. And I have heard that they take forever to get the flowers to you (like right before you walk down the aisle). Plus I have read that they are not always the highest quality. On the other hand, I have also heard good things about them. 19. I think I was pretty calm for the most part, but I kept almost going Bridezilla on one of my BMs who I shoulda just fired before the wedding. Besides the fact that she left halfway into our reception because its the night that she schedules sex with her husband (at a specific time on Saturdays and some time mid-week!!) she also tried to steal my flowers at least 3 times before the wedding. They had an "A" monorgram on them so she kept "pretending" to think that they were hers, when she knew they weren't. She likes being the center of attention. I have a nice thread on here somewhere of all the texts that she sent be before the wedding trying to back me into plans...
  20. Here are pics from our reception food. We had a private poolside reception and used the BBQ menu. This came with an assortment of salads, sides and meats, as well as dessert. The food was WAY better than Mammee Bay the night before. It was cooked right there and placed in the chafing dishes, so it was hot and fresh. The buffet worked out best because everyone ate at the same time.
  21. I have a few pics of the food for you... For our rehearsal dinner, we had the Mammee Bay menu but sat at Platation. I only took a pic of my plate which was the combo meal (chicken, steak, fish, shrimp and sausage). Chicken was a little dry and sausage was way undercooked but the rest was good. I filled up on soup and salad beforehand, so it was ok. Also, food took a LONG time. Some people were completely done eating before others had even gotten food...

The Groom Hey.... Do you mind if I put a link of that video on my blog? I really wish I had done the same...
  23. You are not all that far away from NYC. Why not a girl's weekend there to see a show?
