What is the biggest source of conflict in your relationship?
Jenn79 replied to Alyssa's topic in Chit Chat Corner!
Money is probably the biggest issue. It's not so much how we spend, we're both on the same page about that, but when we sit down to pay bills together, he gets freaked out very easily if he can't account for every single penny right away. It all works out in the end, once we find our receipts and check the bills, but trying to get him to calm down for five minutes and just think about things can be difficult. And of course, there is the household stuff. He admits he doesn't do as much as he should, but will still leave his dishes in the sink or clothes all over the floor. I've pretty much gotten used to it, but there are times when the dishes that have piled up just make me want to scream. -
The first (and only) time I got sick from drinking was really my own fault. I was out with some friends and had two or three Mike's Hard Lemondade (it doesn't take much for me to get drunk, I'm a cheapo), but I hadn't eaten anything since breakfast, so already my stomach wasn't happy with me. After the bar we went to this greasy spoon that makes AMAZING wedge fries, and since I was hungry, I got me some good greasy fries, mmmm. Well, on the way home, I started to feel really sick. We stopped off at a friend's place to drop him off, and as soon as the car stopped moving, I rolled off the seat and proceeded to puke on whoever's lawn was under me. I later found out the lawn belonged to a fraternity...not sure if they saw me or not, but it was not my finest moment by a long shot. Oh, and my dear friend who was kind enough to hold my hair out of my face never fails to remind me that I got puke on his very expensive shoes.

I had a teacher whose name was Richard Dix...no joke. I cannot imagine what he must have had to deal with growing up. As it was, we immature children (ages 12 and 13) had plenty of fun snickering behind his back.

I found out after the wedding that my grandfather had told my father he should "try to talk some sense into her, and make her have a normal wedding". I shook my head and laughed it off. I loved my wedding and wouldn't have done it any differently.

My cousin just had a baby, and is having a similar reaction to her MIL. Her excuse is that she doesn't want anyone coming to visit who can't help her with the baby (MIL is going through chemo and is weak a lot of the time). I haven't been to see her yet, but when I heard about it I was actually quite upset for the MIL. She's a very nice lady, and while I'll admit I don't know her well, she is the baby's grandmother and has a right to see the baby, whether she can help out or not. So I totally feel for your parents, what your SIL is doing is so unfair and totally unfounded. As for your brother, well, I can empathize there as well. My brother, as much as I love him, can't stand up for himself at all. Here's hoping everything works out, it's so sad how major life experiences turn people we thought we knew into total strangers.

AUGUST 25 You excel at anything difficult or high tech. In other words, you're a total (brilliant) geek. It's difficult for you to find people worth spending time with. Which is probably why you'll take over the world with your evil robots! Your strength: Your unfailing logic Your weakness: Loving machines more than people Your power color: Tan Your power symbol: Pi Your power month: July Haha, mine couldn't be more wrong! I definitely don't love machines more than people, nor do I excel at difficult high-tech things (give me a book over tv anyday!). I could barely understand the principle behind "pi" in high school, so it's funny that it's supposed to be my power symbol. I do find it difficult to find people worth spending time with, but aside from that, waaaay off. Always fun to check these things out though!

SATC chat thread-if you haven't seen the movie-don't read this

I always knew I would get married in Bermuda, we lived there when I was a child, and I couldn't imagine getting married anywhere else. So to go along with the bias, I would say Bermuda was the best place I could have gotten married. There are so many beautiful spots on the island that could work for your wedding, but I'm afraid the affordability for your guests goes out the window unless you cruise to the island...hotels are known for being "slightly" overpriced. Still, here are a few websites you might want to take a look at, The Bridal Suite (the overall look of this site is kinda loud and busy, but it does have a wealth of information) Bermuda vacation Bermuda Vacations, Meetings, Weddings, Guide, History & Culture | Bermudatourism.com - Feel the Love Good luck with your decision!

I absolutely LOVED it. It was everything I wanted it to be, and then some. Couldn't have been happier and CANNOT wait until the DVD. But was anyone else a little confused with the Stanford situation? (I don't want to say too much for those who haven't seen it yet)

How have you prepared for for the SATC premiere?
Jenn79 replied to jamisoncollette's topic in Random Thoughts
I'm heading to the 10:40pm show with five girlfriends, but we're meeting up for dessert/drinks beforehand. I have been driving my husband nuts all week, bouncing and dancing around the kitchen while I sing my "going to see Sex in the City" song....I'm only slightly excited. -
Fun Chat Thread: What is the one thing you are glad you spent $$$ on?

Luckily I was just being a spazz and had nothing to worry about. -

My dress. I had originally planned on going with a less expensive one, but once I tried on the one I went with, I couldn't imagine wearing anything else. It was WAY over my orginal budget, but after showing my husband pictures of the first dress (both on a model and on me), he said I made the right choice, regardless of price. -
I know this thread is a bit older, but I thought I'd throw an idea out there as well. A lot of you mentioned cheese and garlic, but I like to do parmesan cheese and dill, for a bit of a tangier taste. Very yummy!

I may have to get one of the smaller ones for that!

Can you help me find this dress?

But thank you so much anyway. I'm going to try this Nikki lady and see what she says. Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it! I know some bridal stores sell their dresses off the rack, the one I went to was willing to sell me mine. Maybe you can call around some stores in NY and see if they carry the designers and if they're willing to sell them off the rack. Then you'd just have to worry about alterations. Hope this works out for you! -
For the most part Timm does his fair share of the chores around the house, will load the dishwasher, and is pretty good with the laundry. HOWEVER... I swear this guy is crumb-blind. He either can't or won't see the crumbs left by his toast...or his sandwich...or the cookie he scarfed. There are always crumbs! He says he wipes them, but really, he must be wiping something only he can see, because they are always there right in front of the toaster and where he makes his lunch. And of course, I don't want to be a nag, since I've already mentioned it once or twice before. But it drives me absolutely up the wall! and don't get me started about coffee grinds, both left in the coffee maker and making their home just around the base of it...

I'm so glad! A slight word of warning, there are a lot of pieces to these shelves, and putting them together may seem daunting, but it is so worth it. We've taken them apart and put them together three times now (they don't move well when they are still together), and it just gets easier each time.

It is because of grocery shopping that I have put off getting my license for as long as I have (yes, I am one of those sad people who is too terrified to get her license)...I mean, if people can't even maneuver a shopping cart properly, how the heck can I expect them not to ram into me on the road with their cars? aside from that though, it is really such an aggravating experience, which makes me even madder, since I actually enjoy the actual act of grocery shopping. But with all the aisle hogging, running children, and people who actually direct the bag boy on how they want their groceries packed (yes, they do exist, and I ALWAYS get stuck behind them), I do my best to go when everyone else is in bed...thank goodness for the 24hr grocery stores that are popping up everywhere!
