  1. I don't even know what to say - I feel like I am looking at pictures in a magazine... of gorgeous people taking amazingly sensuous pictures that made me make sure FI wasn't going to walk in the room and think I was looking at "inappropriate" pictures. In a word. Hot.
  2. I had someone send me a similar email and I responded with "i'm sorry but we decided to make the wedding very small - only family and very close friends. Please don't be offended... I hope you know if it was in NY we would have loved to invite you, as well as all of our friends"
  3. I'm totally doing the same thing! I got green and pink, our wedding colors
  4. Thanks ladies! I just realized y'all responded now And yes, I can't wait to get to mexico and marry my cutie fiance/husband
  5. Welcome to the forum!!! Let me know if I can help with anything
  6. Welcome Becky! I don't know much about your destination, but let me know if I can help in any other way
  7. Welcome Erin!!! Let me know if I can help with anything
  8. Welcome to the forum!!! Let me know if I can help with anything
  9. Oh crap, I am flying down tom for a site visit. It's def not as bad a wedding, but I hate traveling in bad weather
  10. Thanks for the help ladies... a friend actually introduced me to a store called Vows in Boston. It's a bridal discount place that has a website (bridepower.com)... so anyway, I walked in and fell in love with the whole place! They had every name brand on the planet, and I think I may have fallen in love with a Reem Acra dress.. oh, and did I mention its marked down to $500 from $4500?!?!?! I am pretty excited about the whole thing They are super nice and with a $100 deposit, are holding it for me for 5 days until I get back from Mexico... imagine this is "the" dress! I can't wait to come back and try it a second time
  11. Good suggestions! I bet my guests would really appreciate that
  12. I have a similar number of invitatoins to send out and I went the "let someone else do it" route. As much as I wanted to make them myself and have that satisfaction, it was more important to me that they be perfect. For me, perfect = driving myself crazy! I know I would toss half of them and get frustrated, defeating the purpose of the project. My vote is that you be active in the design like Anny, and then let someone else do the hard work
  13. We pay approx 240 a year when we added it to our renter's insurance policy... although i am not sure if we got a discount because we have our car insurance through them too... oh, and we use liberty mutual

  15. I am planning to use starfish with tags as place card holders for the reception... anyone know the cheapest website to buy starfish in bulk?
  16. I dont even know exactly what to say, because I can't imagine how you feel right now, but I do think that having someone walk you down the aisle would not betray your parent's memory. I am sure they would want someone to be with you and it sounds like your first cousin's husband is the best choice. If I were you, I would want someone who makes me feel calm and safe, not necessarily a parental figure... you should follow your heart in making the decision, but I know your parents will be there with you...
  17. I agree with the girls about the size of the text, but other than that I think they are fun and beachy
  18. Shelley - I know a bunch of girls have said this, but I have to say you are amazing with all the stuff you find and all the DIY projects you are taking on! I am literally following this thread with a pad and pen writing everything down
  19. Thanks for the advice ladies - a day later, I am a lot calmer and have a bit more perspective First, the reason I was all stressed out is because I met with the designer in the store (trunk show) and she claimed that I needed to order the dress this weekend for it to be ready for my wedding... talk about pressure! I talked to FI, and he was sooo sweeeet! Basically, he said I should wait and shop around some more, and if I absolutely cannot live without this dress, we would just order it and pay the rush fee (I believe the direct quote was "if you are going ot spend a year's worth of college tiution on a dress then what is another 600 bucks") I am going back to kleinfelds with my mother and FMIL today at 2 to see if they think this dress is as unbelieveable as I do... Kleinfeld's has a stricked no-pictures policy but I will try to make it happen That's the last thing - this dress is made exclusively for Kleinfeld's in Manhattan... I can't even find a picutre of it, so I wouldn't take the chance of trying to describe it to a seamstress to replicate... Lauren is right - that's what I get for going to Kleinfelds!
  20. I went to my first real dress appointment this morning at Kleinfelds in NY and I tried on a bunch of dresses. They were all beautiful, but nothing really jumped out... and then the saleswoman brought out "the dress." On the hanger, I wasn't so impressed, but then I put it on and I was floored! It is a Pnina Tornai (never heard of her but she is israeli like me) dress that looks very similar to the lace Monique Loulier (sp?) with the cap sleeves and open back... but I loved this one even more (I tried on both). So here is the problem: the dress costs $4800.00 (including alterations) which is WAAAAYYYY out of my price range. I can't even try to find it somewhere else as a sample because it's only sold at the NY Kleinfelds!!! Can you believe it?!?!?! FI said if I love it more than life itself then I should get it, but I can't realy rationalize spending that kind of money on a dress... what do I do?!?!?!
  21. I am SOOOO sorry Shelley! That's really awful and frustrating and sad. That being said, it is definitely NOT a reason to question your decision to have a destination wedding! I don't know anyone as excited as you are about planning a DW and I can't imagine you giving up on that! I can imagine how hard this must be for you, but you have to consider what you and FI want, and also remember all the people that ARE going to make it... don't let this get you down! When things get stressful I just remember that if at the end of the day it's just me and Steve on a beach in Mexico, that's enough for me
  22. you can purchase them in bulk on line: Starfish Wedding Favors - Wedding Party Favors - Bridal Shower Favors Coral Just make sure you get the size you want!
  23. My save the dates (which I will as soon as I get a sample) have starfish, so I was hoping to incorporate the theme throughout the wedding on programs, welcome letters, and maybe OOT bags... oh, and I love the idea to use the logo as the stamp for our invitations!
