  1. Lauren! Looks like you already have a good start, having been to RM! Let me know if I can help in any way
  2. I don't have anything to say about the stomach bugs, but it's rainy and gross in Boston right now and a hot toddy sounds pretty good right now!

Also, at first his parents hated the idea of a DW so their offer to pay for all the guests was more of an apology to all their friends for their son's "crazy idea of a DW." Since then, they have warmed up to the idea alot (mostly because all their friends and family have told them how excited they are!) and more and more we realise that they are paying for this wedding because they love us and want to give us the wedding of our dreams ... weddings/wedding planning can be so emotional!
  4. My FI's parents are paying for EVERYTHING. And when I say everything, I mean everything. They even insisted on paying for 2 nights stay for all our guests... right now we anticipate 150. It sounds crazy now, but this was the source of endless arguments between the families. The whole reason we decided to have a destination wedding was to get away from the 200 person NY wedding, with all its costs and stresses. Now we are planning a 150 person wedding Mexico - yeah, no stress there (insert sarcastic tone here).
  5. I am so bummed to hear that! I really want to just ship everything and not deal with customs... but I rather deal with luggage than losing everything!

Did they leave a hole and put it down in the shells a bit? I want to definitely find plastic jars/vases though (and I like that square look) so that nothing breaks in the transition from US to DR. I don't have pictures of it (unfortunately) but I can ask my friend to send me some. From what I remember, she used a big round candle and just placed it on top of all the shells.
  7. I am doing those centerpieces at the rehearsal dinner, but mine will have sand on the bottom and a white candle on top. I saw it at a cape cod wedding and fell in love with it... after a while the candle melts and it looks like there is a level of water on the top... so pretty!
  8. Sorry ladies, I may have steered you wrong! I just went on the website and the shells aren't on there right now I'm sorry... it says they will update soon, so maybe the nice man at the dollar store wasnt lying after all... Either way, they definitely have shells in store!
  9. Shut up! Thats too funny... I TOTALLY know how you feel about them taking forever. It made me really nervous at first, but then I found out that it's normal and their WC's can pull a wedding together in under a week! I am actually going down for a site visit next thursday and I fully intend on using my 3 hour appointment to nail down all the details (as much as I have figured them out). I have never been there, but my family has and they said it's beautiful. I really hope I love it! I am definitely a little nervous about the lack of response, but FI and I agreed that if we think the WC's aren't helpful, we will just get our own WC to deal with them! Where are you getting married?
  10. I TOTALLY know how you feel! I was probably on my 15th color combo for my wedding when my save the date person forced me to commit this week! I decided on green and pink, but promised myself that I would be flexible on the shades, depending on what it was going on (ie, flowers, programs, ribbons, etc) I can't imagine its easy to find the identical shade of peach you need for everything. Maybe you could incorporate different shades of peach, which would give you some flexibility. I might be colorblind, but is coral an option? I think you are going to drive yourself crazy if you try to make everything match perfectly!

When we started looking at Mexico I was told to stay away from the fall months because of rain, but recently I heard that even if it does rain, its only for a half hour or so Maybe your WC can arrange a plan A and a plan B? When I was originally planning a NY wedding, the WC at the hotel said she can move the wedding indoors up to 1 hour before the wedding On an unrelated note, your wedding date is my birthday!
  12. Am I the only one that wouldn't trust the groomsmen to do half those things?!?!

  14. You could also buy silver spray paint from the craft store. That way the rinestones will stick to the paint AND you'll have your silver starfish
  15. I feel like an idiot asking for help, especially since I have gone through Maria's online tutorial on how to make a logo... I don't know why, but mine keep coming out awful! Can anyone help me put something together?
  16. I JUST saw this thread now and all I can say is that if I were you, i wouldnt leave the computer for a second! Seriously, you look so happy and beautiful... so happy for you!

I went to Michael's and they were $4 each which was more than I wanted to spend
  18. What a great website! I love the idea of covering the ceremony with the "sheets" although I don't know how I would ask for that!
  19. One more thing - dollar tree has a website that allows you to purchase (anything) in bulk. Dollartree Direct
  20. Crap - I didn't consider the wind factor. I was planning on having candles EVERYWHERE... any creative suggestions to protect the candles from blowing out?
  21. I don't know if anyone is looking, but I was in Dollar Tree yesterday and they haev big bags of seashells for $1 (obviously). I bought 12 bags to decorate my tables at the rehearsal dinner. At first I felt kind of silly buying shells to bring to Mexico because, as my mom said, "who brings sand to the beach?"... but then I thought about combing the beaches or stores for shells and decided its the least stressful alternative
