  1. Congrats!! Excellent Review. Thanks for making it so detailed. I getting excited since mine is quickly coming up. It's a silly question but if you have a pic of the new paint job, can you post it? I'm sad the wall is no longer pink It would have fit perfectly with my pink and orange wedding.
  2. I recently looked into the legalities of a civil ceremony and found out even when you get married at City Hall there are vows involved. I don't want to take any kind of vows before we have our real wedding in Mexico. Also, you need to have 2 witnesses and I'm thinking even if we stress this is not the "real" wedding I'm sure we will be congragulated making it more than what I want it to be. Also, I think I would feel weird getting married in jeans but if I wear a nice dress then that is making the ceremony into something I don't want it to be. So then my last concern was whether we would get the complimentary honeymoon package without a legal document and I checked with the resort. All I need is a wedding invite to get the package YEAH!!! So we have decided to wait until we get home to do our civil ceremony. Our guests will be none the wiser. We our asking our wedding coordinator to get us something to sign so people think its legal. In my mind, legalities aside the day I say my vows on that beach in Mexico is my real wedding. And on the plus side, maybe I can get away with wearing my dress again at the civil ceremony
  3. Everything I posted with the exception of the champagne flutes comes from Weddinstar. Here is the American site: Weddingstar - Wedding Accessories - Cake Toppers - Wedding Favors Here is the Canadian site: Weddingstar Canada: Unique Favors, Beautiful Centerpieces, Fabulous New Collections, Accessories that are Truly Unforgettable Hope this helps
  4. I'm bringing my own toasting flutes because I want keep them as a souvenir and I'm going to use the cake serving set provided by the wedding coordinator.
  5. We are having around 25 guests and we decided to have the bridal party sit at the head table with us and then split the rest of the guests up into 3 tables with assigned seating. We decided to do this for a number of reasons: 1) We can place family members together and put people who we think would mesh well with one another together. 2) I find that round tables allows for more conversation between all people at the table. Whe you are all sitting at a long table, the conversation is usually focused to the people directly in front of you...or to the side of you. 3) I wanted to have a centerpiece for each table, not really a good reason LOL just a preference. We will have the place cards on the table. Since there are only 3 tables I'm sure it won't be too hard for guests to figure out where they are sitting. The reason why we are doing that is because we are having different favours for the men and woman and different for our underage guests. The only thing to decide on now is whether we want to have table numbers and then have a seating chart by the guest book. Don't know if it is necessary. I hope that helps
  6. Here are a number of other starfish related stuff. The best part is that all these items are available in Canada and are shipped from Alberta. The exception is the champagne and cake server set but it is shipped by UPSP so you won't get dinged by crazy duty & brokerage fees UPS charges. I'm getting the wine toppers for my guests, the starfish garter and maybe the cake topper. I really really want the champagne flutes but with shipping they are kinda pricey. If I can find some nice jeweled starfish that are similar to the ones on the flutes I will make my own flutes.
  7. Yes my dress is Maggie's Anastasia. What is yours? I'm not wearing a veil. Right now I'm wavering between wearing a hair floor, hair brooch or tiara.
  8. Your dress is so perfect...the colour is amazing and will look amazing on the beach at Las Caletas. The details are so nice and you look beautiful in it. I also have a light gold dress and was worried about it not being tradional but after seeing yours no more worries
  9. To the ladies who were married at Las Caletas I have another question about processional music. I've been working on this for so long now and this is almost as hard as picking a wedding dress : I've found 2 songs that I like and that if properly timed could flow nicely into each other. My question is, do you think 3 minutes is too long for 3 bridesmaids? I would have them start at the top of the stairs. Also, is 1 minute 45 seconds too long for me? I would also start at the top of the stairs, pause at the bottom to meet my mom and be unbustled. It is proving rather difficult to choose a song that will really showcase it in 1 minute (for me) and for the bridesmaids fading out in the middle of the song (about 2 and half minutes) often does not work because it is at a dramatic part of the song which would overshadow mine.
  10. I'm so angry that that happened to you . Slimey customs people. Thanks for letting us know though. Definately something I will be aware of. Also, I would like to add one more tip, as sad as this is, bring extra money to bribe customs officials because you never know.
  11. What a truly amazing review. I almost felt like I was there watching. Your description was awesome. I'm glad you had your 10 out of 10 dream wedding. Each review convinces me more and more that Las Caletas was the best decision for me and FH. I have one question though, was it difficult being without shoes all night? Did it hurt your feet coming down the stairs? Any sand crabs?
  12. Thanks Rachel That means alot. I am still somewhat conflicted over my choice, mainly because I shopped for so long and tried on soooo many dresses that it was really hard to pick just one. Keep the dresses coming ladies, this is my favourite post. I love seeing real brides in their gowns.
  13. I'm also staying at Dreams with my guests for one week and then once they all leave we have another week to ourselves.
  14. I love these type of posts. All you ladies look fantastic. Now is my turn to play. I ordered my dress in light gold over diamond white but the sample in this pic is diamond white over diamond white.

Actually, while I was standing up there waiting to go down, I heard Over the Rainbow - so I know they can play that! Then they can just time it accordingly. OMG...that is a great idea. My FH wants me to walk to over the rainbow but it does not seem romantic enough for me. I'm thinking it is a great song for my bridal party though. Now if the trio plays it for me then I can set up my ipod for my song and have someone turn it down slowly when I get to the front so it is not cut abruptly but rather faded out. Yeah!!! Now that that is decided, just need to pick my song to walk to. Thanks for all your great suggestions ladies
  16. Jules I love your pics. Beautiful bride You and your husband look great together. Congrats!!! Your pics also bring back memories for me, I remember walking through that same field every day to get to the beach. Love that you took pics there. I love love the train pics but for some reason don't remember seeing it when I was there. I can't wait to see your pro pics and to hear the details of your day.
  17. Thanks for all your input ladies. Jamie, I like the idea of fading two songs into each other but a little hesitant as to the timing. If it took 5 and some minutes for 10 people plus you Jamie, maybe it will take about 2 and half minutes for 3 bridesmaids and me? Maybe Nicole will have a better idea of timing. Lindsey, that's awesome that they were able to fade out the songs without it stopping abruptly. That is nice to know, however it leaves me with one question. What about your song?? Did you let it play until it ended or fade it as well? I like the idea of casual laid back (over the rainbow) to dramatic (bittersweet symphony. In my case though it may be dramatic first and then causal...or two casual...arrh..I like to many songs and cannot choose Maybe this is one task I should just relinquish to FH LOL
  18. Hi Girls I've been trying to decide on the song I'm going to walk down the aisle to for awhile. One of the problems is that I like 3 songs (somewhere over the rainbow, feels like home and at last). I think I may save At Last for the recessional song. Now here comes the difficulty. I want to have my own song to walk down the ailse to (Feels like home) while my bridesmaids have a different one (Somewhere over the Rainbow). How would that work at Las Caletas, using my ipod? Would they walk down the ailse and stand at the front until the song ends...or would we just cut the song off midway? That would sound pretty bad cutting it off. What about myself? Do I stand at the front waiting until my song ends or is it cut off? I wish I could plan the songs to fade away but I don't think I can since I cannot know for sure how long it will take to get down the ailse. I guess one solution would be to use the trio to play music for the bridesmaids. If I did that do you think they could play something I've chosen or would it be generic? Another solution is to use Canon in D for the bm's since I think it would be an easy song to cut off, without sounding to bad. However, it is such a formal song and I'm not sure it would go with Somewhere Over the Rainbow (what FH wants me to walk down the ailse to) or Feels like home to me. What do you think girls? What did you do?
  19. This thread is great. Dear Self Get off your lazy butt and start working out. And would cutting out chips and chocolate kill you. You got six months to go before you get married and have to be seen in a bikini in front of family and friends. Please remember pictures are forever... No matter how many times you get scratched, hit, chocked or have your hair pulled, please remember you are helping these kids and that it is simply because they use aggression to communicate. This will make you stronger and a better instructor therapist. Stick with it because you can do it. And P.S. Wear long sleeves two weeks before leaving for the wedding because you would not want scratch marks on your arms for your wedding pics Dear FI Can you please, please, please start picking up your clothes, cleaning up after yourself and doing things you say you will. It really sucks to come home from a stressfull day at work to have to pick after a grown man. I am not your mother nor will I ever be. And by the way, don't tell me you don't have time to do things and let them slide for multiple weeks since you seem to have plenty of time for video games....I love you...stop acting like a child at times.
