  1. Ann, I've finally goten the chance to read your reviews and see your pics. You looked stunning and your wedding was beautiful. I'm so happy everything turned out the way you wanted (except getting sick). It is brides like you who help convince the rest of us to choose Las Caletas. I'm sure I will be showing friends and family your pics during the next year.
  2. I too am getting married at Las Caletas and am hoping to stay at Dreams, if my travel arrangements work out I also considered Vallarta Palace but reventually decided I would rather be at Dreams. If you are planning a wedding I would go with Las Caletas, the wc is great and the response is quick. I started trying to get in contact with the wc at Dreams in March. She would take weeks to get back to me and would not answer my questions but rather she kept attaching the same documents she previously sent me. I even filled out the wedding request form online because it stated someone would call in 2 business days. No one did. The wc at Dreams actually sent me a form yesterday asking me to reserve my wedding date. You got to be kidding me!!! I replied by saying I'm taking my business elsewhere and why. How am I supposed to plan a wedding without information!!
  3. Congrats on having your wedding date confirmed. Mine is still up in the air and keeps changing because of difficulties with the travel arrangements. We are considering getting the trio for 2 hours to entertain the guests before the ceremony and after during the cocktail reception. However, we are not 100% sold cuz we did not like the clip we heard on the website. I'm sure there may be other options I can work out with the wedding coordinator though. As for the DJ, we decided against for a few reasons. For one, our budget I've spoken to a few brides who brought their ipod for the dancing and it worked out great. By the time you actually have dinner, speeches and cake cutting, there is not enough time left to justify the cost of a dj. Besides, by setting up your own playlists you control what music gets played. Also, we are going to have the fire dancers so that will also take away from actual dancing time.
  4. I'm so happy to hear that there are options for photographers. I cannot bring my own due to budget but its nice to know I can pick and choose and not be stuck with only one choice :
  5. OMG...what a stunning wedding!!!! I absolutely love the bridesmaids bouquest and the rose petals on the tables. They are in the exact colours I want for my wedding. Did you purchase the bouquets there as well as the decorations? Also, love your hair. Did you have it professionaly done?
  6. Hi All Could someone also email me pricing info for Dream PV if I pm you? I will be staying there and am waivering between having my wedding off site at Las Caletas or Dreams PV. The real problem is that I am not getting any response from the resort and I have sent 3 emails in about a month in a half requesting info. I'm starting to get stressed because I feel I can't make a decision on Las Caletas until I see what my options for Dreams PV are. Also, perhaps someone can post an email address that is more direct that the general one on their website. Does such a website exist? That video on youtoube was fantastic
  7. Thanks for the suggestions Ladies As far as I know, none of my guests are able to do my hair. But, I'm hoping against hope that someone will suprise me with a secret talent. Since I'm going over in the morning, I don't know about getting my hair done and hoping it keeps all day. I doubt the resort would style my hair that early. I spoke with my hairdresser and she said that she would do a trial run with me and try to teach me how to do my own hair, then I can practice ahead of time. I'm just not sure how my nerves would be on the day of. My real problem is I have naturally curly hair that does not react well to humidity or the water in foreign countries. Now, it is a matter of deciding whether I want to risk finding a guest who can help or my own talent and go ahead and book, knowing full well I may have to pay the ridiculous fee. Or find another location...which breaks my heart since I am already very attached to Las Caletas. Who knew hair could cause so many problems. I know it may seem trivial but I want to look and feel beautiful on my wedding day. This was my first snag in planning a DW, I guess I got to get used to them
  8. Hi All I am in the midst of planning a Las Caletas wedding when I ran into a pretty big snag. The prices to get my hair done are $345USD!!! I don't think I can afford nor justify spending this amount to get my hair done. What are some of you doing about hair? I can't do my own hair and I don't know if I will have any guests that can help in this area as well.
  9. Thank you for the warm welcome AKH and Feb14Bride. Congrats on your wedding Feb14Bride, from reading this thread it sounds as if you had the wedding of your dreams. I have made note of your email and will be using it :)AKH, you must be getting excited about your upcoming wedding. I appreciate the donation and will definately use the points to look at the previously posted documents. I'm pretty happy that it looks as if I can keep it under $10,000. The only extras we want is the wedding cake, the photography package that comes with 25 prints and 100 negatives, bouquets/boutenieres for the wedding party and rose petals for tables and ailse. We are hoping a family or friend can videotape for us. As for music, I think we will bring an ipod. Although I have not decided 100% on Las Caletas, I'm pretty sure I will in the end. I am planning on staying at Dreams and am awaiting a response from them in regards to their options for a private beach wedding. In the meantime, I do have some questions that I have not been able to answer as of yet. Everyone has been saying that they wished they had an extra hour. I too think I would like to do that. However, what I want is to have that extra hour by starting earlier. It seems as if the ceremony starts rather late in the day and by the time it is done, you have your pics taken in the dark. The point though of getting married on a beach is to have beautiful pics of you depicting that. I really want daylight pictures. The other 2 options are not really an option. My fiancee and I don't want to see each other before the ceremony for pics, nor can we get dressed in our wedding clothes the next day to take pics. Besides we would not have the photographer on the second day, or I would not pay to have my hair done again. 1) So, is it at all possible to have the guests arrive an hour earlier thus moving back the ceremony and saving daylight for the pics? 2) Red will be my theme colour, is it possible to have a red carpeted runway as opposed to the bamboo one? 3) Can you choose where the dinner will be held with the package? Can you have it on the beach instead of the restaurant? 4) I doubt my fiancee's grandfather would be able to stay up for most of the night. Is it at all possible that he go lie down in the bridal suite? I know from reading the post, it is dark up there, but do you think the staff could arrange this if need be? 5) I have some concerns regarding the quality of the pics from the photographer the company uses? Do you know if overall brides were happy with the pics or disapointed? 6) Do you know of any other forum or travel review site that has reviews/info on Las Caletas weddings besides the links posted in this forum? Whatever help you can give me in answering these I really appreciate. I ask you brides first before contacting the company because I have a feeling that maybe you would have already asked similar ones. Natalie
  10. Hi All I have been engaged for about a month now. After looking into all my options for a destination wedding, I have decided on Puerto Vallarta. I stumbled upon Las Caletas the other day and instantly knew it was perfect for my fiancee and I. He agrees as well. I don't have any points yet since I am new to this forum. As a result, I can't really access any documents that have been posted. So far this thread and the links have been incredibly usefull. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to correspond through email with me so that I can receive the extra info and ask questions? My email address is [email protected] Also, my fiancee and I really want to purchase the deluxe package and hope to have around 40 guests. No confirmations yet since we are waiting to know where and when before sending out invites. Is it realistic to have a wedding at Las Caletas for a maximum of $10,000 Canadian, or are we fooling ourselves? This budget includes the ceremony and reception. We have an additional budget for the cost of hotel, dress, rings..ect.. I don't want to get too wrapped up in this idea only to find out it is way out of our budget.
