Do you think an antiviral would help at this point?? I did read that upping your Vit. B intake is good so I've been doing that as well as taking a Vit. C supplement. Also I have Colloidal Silver in the fridge and it's supposed to be a natural antiseptic and antibiotic. I just read that dipping a cotton ball in it and placing it on the area for 5-20 mins (as long as possible) 2-3x a day helps so I just did that as well.

What is Polysporin? Is that like Neosporin? I have been putting Neosporin on as much as possible - at this point I could care less about the blob of gooey stuff, I just want it gone! However, I do have to work a big event at our art gallery tomorrow night. I'm in sales so having a giant cold sore isn't the greatest... argh.

What a handsome & sexy couple you two make! Great pics!

Ugh, I've had a honker of a cold sore in the corner of my mouth for almost 2 weeks now! I *HATE* getting these. You have to be soooo careful what you touch and I can't kiss FI I tried to ice it as soon as I could tell it was coming on but apparently I didn't catch it in time. It started to heal but I think all the sun in Mexico and now the dry heat here in TX just made it worse. I've been using Herpacin chapstick, then switched to Abreva. Also I'm putting Neosporin on it now cause I think it was starting to get infected! (Eww, sorry if TMI) When I wake up in the morning it seems sooo much better but as I go about my day it manages to crack back open Any good tips?? I read about putting a mud mask on it to help it dry up...anyone tried this? I just want it gone cause I am so afraid of spreading it... ugh. And it hurts

YAY! I have cut out soda before. A year ago and I lost a TON of weight. So I'm excited to do it again. Plus the headaches are not fun! I'm glad to see other people do this to! YAY! At The Westin in PV they have fruit infused water. Let's see, last time we went they had water w/strawberries in it, water w/lemons and water w/mango and guava. Yum.

Thats basically one of the top rooms, so there isnt any room for a free upgrade to be offered... dunno. I will probably go ahead with it. Hmmm, are you working with a TA that can help advise you? If you're not working with a TA and you have your heart set on that room I'd go ahead and book it, just to save any unnecessary heartache. They could always deck it out with flowers and a fruit basket or something like that -
I just voted, good luck

I am so sorry. One of my friends went through this recently. A friend of hers actually went through with killing herself. My friend had a pretty hard time dealing with it. Like Alyssa said I really hope she can get the support and help she needs right now... Sending out good wishes to you and your friend...

When I can't sleep I try and read a book. Usually I don't get very far before I get that same burning feeling that you mentioned and fall asleep. I hate when it's the pressure of going to sleep that is keeping you awake! Oh the irony. Also, I use melatonin to help me sleep. It helps to regulate your sense of day and night. Just make sure you turn off the tv and all lights so your body can realize it's night

Just wanted to see how many of us are getting married next Memorial Day weekend and on what dates. I know there are a few of us out there, and probably several more to come! I'm getting married in Puerto Vallarta (Las Caletas) on Sunday May 24th. And you...?

Before we wouldn't let him outside every time he barked because we thought he couldn't possibly go that much. But yesterday out of concern every time I heard him whimper I let him out and he would always go pee. I don't think that is normal... but he does seem normal in every other way. It's so confusing Does anyone else's dog go this much in one day??
-
Oh that is so cool! Martin said to quit making him look bad...
-
So the other head of the Westie rescue emailed back with this... Quote: My Scottie does that and it appears to be a bad habit as much as anything. His original owners would limit his water intake all the time, not just when they were gone and I think once he started getting as much as he wanted he would drink and drink thinking it might not be there later on, after about a year he stopped doing that and now he does just fine. Also, Meredith is correct, some food causes them to be very thirsty. A normal every day urinary tract infection could cause that as well. Yes, it’s also a side effect of Addison’s, Cushings, diabetes, etc. but dogs don’t have those diseases all that often and usually not until they are older. Are you letting him have rawhides during the day or some other kind of treat? My dogs drink tons of water after chewing on rawhides or chewing on some toys. At some point if it continues you could have a urine analysis done to check for an infection and to make sure that his urine has proper concentrations but unless you see other symptoms of illness I’m like Meredith, I just wouldn’t worry too much. It did take me an entire year to potty train my first westies, I thought we would never make it but after the one year mark it was like a new dog and the accidents just stopped. If you do need peace of mind get a urine analysis done as they aren’t that expensive and it might make you feel better. He’s probably just being a normal thirsty westie! LOL Keep us posted and give him a hug for us! Theresa And this was my response... Quote: Thanks to you both for your comments! Theresa, We usually leave a tennis ball in there with him, but we do not give them rawhides. 1-2x a day he gets 1/2 of a Nutro Puppy Treat. We feed him Nutro Ultra Puppy. It does seem like he's just sort of loading up as if the water will somehow run out. Do you think we should keep letting him drink as much as he wants or keep it reasonably limited for potty training purposes? Luckily we are students so we get to come home during the middle of the day to let him out but of course we can't be around all of the time. For now, we have put him in Ollie's box as it is a little smaller. So far, so good. He really started yelping a little bit ago letting me know he had to G-O! If this is just regular puppy training behavior then yes it can be stressful, but there is an end in sight! As long as he is OK health wise I'm fine with that! We may go ahead and do a urine analysis just to be on the safe side. We feel like over-protective new parents of a baby, but better safe than sorry Thanks again, Jaime And then (LMAO) this is the 1st ladies response to the 2nd ladies (that's not confusing...lol): Quote: Come to think of it, Molly drinks until she throws up. And we have never restricted her water. Westies and Scotties are weird! Mer ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm so glad to know that they will always be there for us - what a great organization! This is why we volunteer for them

We have a 122 lb. Geman Shepherd who would drink constantly if we let him. We were not concerned at first, but then he had an accident or two (and he's 3 years old) and he began vommiting. After blood work, urinalysis, and an expensive ultrasound. They found he was in bit of kidney failure. He takes meds every day now and urinalysis shows he is improving but he still drinks a ton of water! So I would say it could be nothing or could mean kidney problems. If it gets worse or you just get 2 worried I would take a urine sample and the vet can check it. I'm sure he will be fine. Keep us posted! This is exactly the type of thing I read over and over on puppy forums which is what made me so concerned. I'm so sorry to hear about your baby Thanks for the good thoughts - I will definitely keep y'all updated after we talk to our neighbor who's a vet...

As for the pooping and peeing, I thought I was going to go nuts with Tess, she took so long to potty train, I would say last summer was our big turning point, when she turned two years old. I really thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown with her, she was always going in the house, in her crate, everywhere but outside. Once we got her UTI's under control, things did get better. Glad to know I'm not the only one going crazy with this! Ollie was hard to train as a puppy but he NEVER went in his box. It is soooo gross to clean up... Honestly I think I'd rather him go in the house cause then it's not all over him and his crate. Oh and this is random but we've just started calling their boxes/crates/kennels "condos". It's so funny because we have them trained to run into them when we get out a treat so now we say "go to your condos!" and they run "home". Ok, maybe we really are starting to lose it

Btw, we have switched him for now into Ollie's box which is smaller. He has room to lay down but it seems a little too small. They don't make a size in between the two... we'll see how this works.
-
Accidents I understand but this is ridiculous - I mean he goes #1 & 2 allll over the place in his box at just about every other day. We are about to pull our hair out! This little dog has not been white in quite awhile - the stains won't come out. Aye yi yi... I mean, I can deal with it as long as I know he is healthy - if he is healthy then i know this will pass.

Congratulations! How fun
