A lot of these places look like a great place to go with friends but I just really want a nice, relaxing, romantic getaway for the two of us... hmmmmmmmm......
  3. I've heard of the Omni Mandalay but I think we want to get a little further out of town. We stayed at the Omni by the airport while we were in between house & apartment and it was really nice. They also had a lake with jogging trails, etc.
  4. I really need to get away for a few days so Martin and I are thinking of traveling somewhere within driving distance. Has anyone on here been to Turner Falls, OK? I hear it's a nice area. We were thinking of renting a cabin and taking at least one of the dogs with us. If you've been there do you have any lodging suggestions? The main purpose of this trip is to R E L A X so we'd also be open to spa resorts or something like that. A pool would be GREAT! I did find this place which looks awesome but I'm not sure how far away it is (it's in the TX Hill Country). 3x the price of a little cabin so we'd probably stay for 2 nights instead of 3 but it includes breakfast, appetizers, dinner, sodas, water, wine & beer for $299/night. And it has a pool Here's the link: Escondida: The Texas Country Reporter Hacienda I'd say $299/night is definitely our max budget - anymore than that and we might as well put it towards a quick trip to Cancun or something.

Holy cr@p, I just saw that our ticker has changed to less than 11 months. Where has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday that we got engaged and it's been about 13 months already! I need to get on those STDs! I am so busy lately I haven't had time to do much of anything besides school and work but I just stepped down from my management position to a position that affords me more free time so that's a plus because school is kicking my butt right now! Where are you in your planning?
  6. Ok, I just wanted to let you girls know that as of Tuesday this week (yesterday): I am *officially* an LC bride! Nicole was super cute and sent me a great congratulatory email. I am stoked and feel so blessed so have both Las Caletas and Elizabeth Medina booked!!! If she doesn't book any other weddings there between now and then I will be her first LC bride - how neat would that be! Yahooooooooooo!!!!!! P.S. Oh and I just checked on the LC calendar and we are on it! May 24th, 2009
  7. Can I take the spa treatment and a cocktail?? hahaha
  8. I personally wouldn't do it. I also got engaged on my birthday, and while we planned to celebrate our 1 year engagement anniversary this year that didn't happen - my bday came first, of course We are getting married on May 24th and my bday is June 10th so while they will be close I am so glad that it's not ON my bday! I definitely want to be able to have two separate celebrations.
  9. You poor thing! I am totally freaked out now because I have super fair, sensitive skin. Yikes! 10. Can your sis/friends secretly get in touch with my BMs?? Cause that literally sounds like the *PERFECT* Bachelorette party to me!!!! I love it!!!!
  11. Woohoo, congrats Andrea!! On another note, I'm really glad you posted these pics because Martin is thinking he wants to do away with the first ring he got and get something more unique (I tried to tell him this in the beginning, but you know guys... ). He saw this thread and really likes the flat edge step cut, so thanks for the suggestion!
  12. Holy cr@p! Somehow I completely missed that you're getting married THIS SATURDAY!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHH!!! How are you feeling? I can't believe your day is almost here Glenda! You're getting married on my Grandma's birthday, so that has to be good luck I really love your dress - it is beautiful I can't wait to see pics! (yes, you better make someone take some pics and deliver them to us promptly! ) AHHHHH I still can't believe you're getting married in...5 days?! Congrats & lots of hugs to you!
  13. I actually really like your dress, Martha - it is really sweet and cute! I think the sweetheart neckline will definitely make it pop. I also really like your shoes & necklace! Oh you are going to be so freaking cute on your wedding day - I can't wait!!!!
  14. Geez, that sounds like a nightmare! I'm glad for you that you were able to get out of that situation and start with a clean slate. Now that you have an outside WC to work with things should go smoothly! Good luck!!!
  15. YAY, I just finished my rough draft! It always feels good to have that completed! I am sure I have a ton of errors to correct though so thank goodness my teacher gave me a 1 day extension! I just sent it off to JenniferLynn to have her proof it for me (thanks so much Jenn!). Thanks to you all for offering your suggestions and help For now, a little break - I'm off to play Mario Kart!
  16. Wow, all these weddings are sneaking up quick!!! Yours is going to be wonderful! Buena suerte!!!!!!
  17. Have you read "The Secret Life of Bees" (by Sue Monk Kidd)? Another good, light (and I guess, educational) read is "The Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth". Very interesting - my Dad passed it on to me. I would recommend reading it on the plane and then practicing the 5 rights either in your hotel room or on the beach!!! Ooooooh what a dreammmmm..... Quote: Legend has it that hidden in the remote reaches of the Himalayan mountains lies a secret that would have saved Ponce de Leon from years of fruitless searching. There, generations of Tibetan monks have passed down a series of exercises with mystical, age-reversing properties. Known as the Tibetan Rites of Rejuvenation or the Five Rites, these once-secret exercises are now available to Westerners in Ancient Secret of the Fountain Of Youth. Peter Kelder's book begins with an account of his own introduction to the rites by way of Colonel Bradford, a mysterious retired British army officer who learned of the rites while journeying high up in the Himalayas. Fountain of Youth then offers practical instructions for each of the five rites, which resemble yoga postures. Taking just minutes a day to perform, the benefits for practitioners have included increased energy, weight loss, better memory, new hair growth, pain relief, better digestion, and just feeling younger.
  18. That is so cute that Jeff got you exactly what you wanted! It can be hard for guys to remember things like that - he definitely gets bonus points
  19. First off - lol @ the title of this thread! Second off - wow are you lucky for getting out of this!!! Seriously though, I was going to be super duper impressed if you followed through with it so I am also a little bummed to see that you're not going. I am a firm believer though that everything happens for a reason. Poor Mike
