The movie was really disappointing to me. You read The Woman Warrior in 9th grade?? Wow!

OK, new & much more researchable topic: Female Duality (or Portrayal of the Chinese Female) in Maxine Hong Kingston’s “The Woman Warrior” The title may need to be restated later on but this is what I've written so far expanding on that a little: There are two distinct roles that Chinese women play in Maxine Hong Kingston’s “The Woman Warrior”. One is that of the submissive, timid and conservative housewife, mother or servant. The other is quite the opposite – brave, strong and powerful, this archetype can go on to become a doctor or warrior. Occasionally, Kingston blends the lines by portraying the presence of both roles in one woman. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If anyone familiar with MLA formating would be interested in proofing my paper when I'm finished please let me know - I would really appreciate it!

You know, I think I might just change my topic. I've read "Like Water for Chocolate" before but I would need to reread it and I don't even have a copy yet. We just finished reading Maxine Hong Kingston's "The Woman Warrior" which I really enjoyed. Maybe I can do something on Chinese-American identity or symbolism in the novel... I think this may be a better route to go considering I don't have a whole lot of time left.

Ok I'm hijacking my own thread: I am about to kill my dogs! Conor just peed in the house for the 2nd time today, and while I shuffled him outside Ollie chowed down on my TV dinner. Conor beat me up the stairs on the way back in and they were both up on the couch (right in the spot where Conor peed earlier) licking the plate clean. I think it's time for a breather and a small glass of wine.... I have a feeling this is going to be a long night...

The next step for me is finding my hotel (unfortunately our first choice is booked so our TA (Tammy, host) is helping us look into other options), then sending out STD's with information packets. I've been trying to put off getting a dress for as long as possible because I tend to gain/lose weight fairly easily. It seems to come in cycles. Definitely not planning on going UP in weight tho! I would like to go ahead and get started on finding my BMs dresses though because one of my BMs is leaving for Pharmacy school in August. Quote: Originally Posted by blinkgrl119 waw congrats!!! We too started looking at photographers back then and couldn't get anyone to give us a quote so I understand your frustrations. Amazingly, we've been engaged for just over 1 year now and the countdown is suddenly ON! You'll probably hear this a lot, but I can say from experience that it will fly by quicker than you think My advice is to plan out who you want, what hotel you want, etc. etc. and then as soon as you possibly can - BOOK IT! Even though you're starting so soon things may quickly begin to start filling up as you get closer to that 1 year mark. Btw, what does "gutted" mean??

I know we have some professors out there... Maura, where are you?? Here's the deal: I am writing a research paper in World Lit. We got to pick our topic but it is a Summer Session so we've had very little time to write it (not to mention the teacher has not once let up on the other short papers and book reading assignments). Anyways, between work and another Senior level class that I am taking concurrently I have admittedly fallen behind and JUST NOW getting started on my paper - AHHHH! Bad Jaime! My topic/thesis is basically this: There is a strong correlation between food and emotions in Laura Esquivel's novel Like Water for Chocolate. (or something to this effect, I haven't even written this part down! ) I need to find 4 scholarly, peer reviewed journal articles that back up my thesis. I am having a hard time doing this and the subject librarian that I need to speak with is off and I don't think she's going to be in at all this weekend (my paper is due on Monday). I have no idea if these databases are specific to UTA or not but so far I have looked in JSTOR, Academic Search Complete and MLA International Bibliography (the last has been the most helpful but I am still not there). This should be a common theme so I don't know why I'm having such difficulty finding these sources! If you can help me think of different search terms or databases to look in that would be greatly appreciated!!! TIA!

Thanks for the review! Your wedding is exactly 1 year before ours. I'm pretty nervous about those waters since my Grandparents are totally freaked out about the weather and getting seasick. I will feel horrible if everyone gets sick, although I know you can't plan it but still I would feel bad since I asked ppl to take a boat knowing they're prone to sea sickness... I guess I need to get over that sometime in the next year, huh!

A female dog named Shannon recently delivered a litter of Westie puppies. The director of the group (Oklahoma City Westie Rescue) just sent out an email with pics - they are soooooooo freaking CUTE!!!! The 1 female has been adopted as well as 2 of the males. I know y'all like pictures so I thought I'd share... The rescue group is getting puppies and dogs in like crazy right now. We also just got in a 5 month old black Westiepoo but he may have to be transferred as it is difficult for our group to adopt out black dogs. If you are ever interested in adopting a West Highland Terrier and you live in OK, TX, AR, MO, KS you can go to the website here: About Us You will have to be prepared to drive to Tulsa or Oklahoma City in most cases, but it's worth it! They are one of the top (if not the top) Westie rescue groups in the country. We adopted our dog Conor from there on Christmas Eve when he was about 10 weeks old. He's now about 10 months old!

Oh no! You're leaving us! We still have to meet at the dog park and go shoot at the Arboretum! *pouts* Hehe, jk. I lived there when I was a kid one Summer with my Mom & Step-Dad (he was stationed at Randolph Airforce Base). We lived in some random apartments. I couldn't even begin to tell you where they were. I have family that lives there but I have pretty much disowned the majority of them. Besides that, we have only gone there for the touristy stuff. I hope you like it there, I know you've been dying to get the heck outta here! When do you move?

Would you mind telling your friend that the PayPal donation from Reagan Jones is for Beate?? I grew up with Boston Terriers. I'm glad I read your post, you did so good to let everyone know. Have a great weekend. Reagan This totally made me tear up because I haven't talked to this guy in ages. We're gonna get this little girl her surgery!
