I'm hoping for an early June 2011 wedding in southern California.

I've found so many great ideas on this forum. I can't wait to actually start picking out which ones I'll for sure do and start working on them!
Hey Cassie! Same here....I picked out the ring I liked earlier this year and only got the promise from him that we will be engaged by the end of this year....so as it is almost november....we shall see! lol...hopefully he'll propose soon!

So I've been driving my futere FI crazy because he sees me on all these wedding websites and he keeps saying "can we wait till we are engaged first?! jeez it's not even going to be a surprise when I propose!" lmao! but it's really hard because I know it's right around the corner so I feel like I at least need to look into things. I was looking at zazzle.com and I thought it was pretty cool how you can make your own postage....I might think of doing that....As far as everything else I guess I'm going to wait until my site visit on 11/26 of this year (and also thanksgiving and my bday!!! woo hoo!lol) I guess maybe then my FI will be more into trying to pick a date and location and all that good stuff....I've been trying to trick him into telling me what days in 2011 he likes but he just rolls his eyes...lol he thinks i'm crazy....ANYWAY as far as weight loss...you are SOOOO luck that you are tall...not only will weight look better on you but your dress will look amazing! I unfortunately am vertically challenged at 5'1"! lol sooooo I'm going to have to learn how to walk in realllllly high heals to make my dress look good. I figured I'll get real serious about my weight come january...i'm going on to cancun in november and christmas is around the corner so I don't necessarily see myself eating healthy then!lol but I'll try!...good job on the OOT bags by the way! I can't wait to get the green light from my future FI...lol Maybe he'll propose on vacation! :)

Yencie, you and are in the exact same boat! My bf keeps saying the same thing to me. He is always rolling his eyes when he sees my on this forum or any other wedding sites. He doesnt understand why we need to be organized and on the ball bc planning in less then a year is brutal. I would rather have most of my stuff figured out now then in 6 months from now and we get married in Jan 2011. I too picked out my ring, he just hasnt ordered it yet. Im pretty sure I wont be getting mine until early next year. He picked out his wedding band a few weeks ago and I paid for it then, so now we are just waiting on its arrival. Totally backwards, but atleast its in some direction and not a stand still. The postage idea is a neat thought, never heard of that before. I think the only other thing I will be doing is getting my ID/badge holders for my OOT bags, and doing my invites. I'm all DIY'd out.
Are you doing centrepeices and sashes and all that jazz?? I have seen so many brides doing that, and not that there is anything wrong with it, but I thought that was the whole point behind a DW? No? To avoid having to do all of that and lug it all down there. Im already worried about my OOT bags and contents, let alone thinking about more things to bring down for the wedding.
Are you legally getting married there or are you doing a symbolic wedding?
I think we have decided to do the legal thing here just before we leave and not tell anyone. Then do just the symbolic part there, that way we dont run into issues with blood tests, and paperwork, and then waiting on the marriage cert from Mexico. It just seems like a lot of added costs to me. Would rather spend that on my trip and honeymoon then give it to the resort or the meixcan government...lol.

Your so lucky you get to do a site visit! I wish we could but its just not in the cards for us. We just bought a house last year and have been putting alot of money into it, so its justnot going to work that way for us. Enjoy your time there, let me know how it goes!
Im sure you will be beautiful in your dress regardless of how tall you are. Atleast you have the option to shorten your dress, I had to make sure mine was long enough! lol.....Just dont kill yourself in the heels if you plan to get married on the beach....I think we are going barefoot as he is a tiny weeny bit taller then me...dont want to be taller then him...lol...plus I think I would kill myself in the heels in the sand. lol

PM me when you get the proposal and a pic of the ring....so excited for you!

I'm getting married in Jan 2011, in talks now with the wedding coordinator at the Grand Palladium Jamaica to set a date. My TA is looking into prices for that time of year, but I think I'm just going to pick a week (once the day is booked) and send out my STD magnets!

JENNYBELL1!!!!HE FINALLY DID IT!!!!!!He proposed last night! I was soooo caught off guard and it's hilarious because I knew it was going to happen soon but I didn't expect it to be last night!. I was sitting in our basement looking through a brides magazine (lol) and he was playing pool. He then came up to me and pullsn out the ring and says "Let me help you out, I think you're going to need this to keep looking through the magazine" lol...It was so not what I expected my proposal to be but was so perfect. I was in complete shock, and can you believe I CRIED!!!lol So totally NOT me....the ring is beautiful and now it's official so I'm veryn happy....I have been given the OK to start looking at wedding websites again...lol...I hope it happens for you soon....It's the best feeling even if we know they are going to do it, it was still a surprise.

As far as centerpieces and all that, I'll probably just order it from the resort. I know DW are suppose to be easier. For me honestly the reason for wanting a destination wedding is because I wanted pictures with the beautiful caribbean water in it. I also knew that I would not be able to afford having the type of wedding I wanted if I got married down here because my guest list would have been ridiculous. Doing the DW makes it easier for us.
I think we are getting legally married here first as well and not telling anyone. It's just cheaper and easier. I don't feel like going through the whole blood test thing down there either or spending the extra money.

You def look like you have everything planned out. When we go for our site visit on the 25th, my fiance said if we like the resort we can pick a date so we'll see. I want to pick a date so that I can send our STD's by january of next year...I'm going to try and figure out how to take a picture of my ring to send you :)

Congrats on the proposal yencie.

Yes I was able to book already for a May 2011 wedding, and it simply came down to which resort would let me, we had 3 picked out and one said yes so we said yes! haha I'm super happy with our decision. I'm giving my photographer our deposit on Friday.

Ashley to answer your questions about the decor items, until I found this forum and starting looking at more pictures I wasn't planning on taking much with me, but now I'm taking a lot to help save money and because I know it will be what I want. I plan on getting real touch bouquets, chair sashes and overlays, and doing my own centerpieces to take with me. I'm going to just split it up between my guests and have receipts for everyone with everything to eliminate problems with customs.

YAY!!!!smile29.gifsmile29.gifsmile29.gifsmile29.gif:smile2 9:

Congratulations!!!!! So excited for you! So funny we were just talking about this and he does it! Cant beleive it! You must be SOOO happy now! Oh I am so happy for you....I wish I could have seen your face when he did it!
I think Im gonna try looking at wedding books now....lol....just kidding!
Thats such great news Yencie!!!

Now like you said, you can officially start planning again without getting the rolling of the eyes. Oh how exciting! I cant wait for you to go on your site visit and hopefully nail down a date. That will lift a huge weight off your shoulders. Especially being able to do that while your down there and not worry about it via emails like the rest of us. You will have to take a lot of pictures so we can see where it will be.

Ya the more I think about it, the more comfotable I am with the thought of getting married here first and not telling anyone and then doing the symbolic ceremony there. I dont think anyone will know the difference. Plus that way we wont be nervous of the day of the beach ceremony. Might remember more of it that way. I know my last wedding was a total blur for most of the time...lol...probably better that way now anyways...lol

So what does the ring look like? You have to upload a pic to photobucket and get it on here!!!! I want to see the beauty! Did you phone everyone right awayhuh.gif I bet you were on the phone for hours! lol

THats sucha cute way of doing it. I told Riley I didnt want anything fancy or something which involved a lot of people. Just me and him,...even if he asked me in bed on a sunday morning...lol....I dont care so long as its heartfelt and genuine and romantic. I dont need the weekend away or fancy dinner. Just me and him. So I love that your now FIANCE (dont you just love the sound of that when it refers to your man...lol) did it that way. Its really cute and unique. Plus it TOTALLY caught you off guard and thats the way it should be. You didnt have a chance to figure it out. So great!!!!

Keep me posted on EVERYTHING!!!!!

Congrats from Riley and I!!!!bunny_4.gif

Thanks! I'm sooo excited now!....wow You already have your date book? that is awesome...I hope that when I go down to mexico on the 25th I fall in love with one of the resorts because I really want to book a date...then I can start planning on the std's! lol....Yeah I'm also planning on ordering my own chair sashes because it looks like they are about $4 a chair if I order them through the resort....I'm not that crafty to be able to make my own centerpieces though sad.gif I'll probably order flowers....who knows we'll see...maybe I'll get inspired once I have a date....lol

Splitting everything with everyone is definitely smart...I'm going to probably have to do the same....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
