Any 2011 brides?!!

Hi

I am a fellow 2011 bride! We are planning a May 28, 2011 wedding at Riu Ocho Rios. I really haven't made any plans yet. I have contacted the resort and they said I can't do anything until March of 2010, so I still have time. I actually broke my shoulder and had surgery about a month and a half ago so I have only recently even began to think about plans.

Time goes by very fast, so it seems far, but our weddings will be here soon enough.

Good luck planning,

Shannon

Crystal1880, Yes, I'm sending out my save-the-dates in early December. I'm doing this because it's before the holidays and before Income Tax season. Even though we still have another holiday and income tax season before our wedding, this will give our guests the chance to save even more. Invitations will be going out next November which will be six months before our wedding so that'll be another reminder before the holiday and income season of 10/11. I hope this helps!

I'm debating on even not sending save the dates and just going by WOM. That may sound tacky, but I have a strong idea of which people will come and which people won't. But I love the idea of Save the Dates. I am debating, now, starting a list of select people to send them to. Don't want to invite everyone and their momma's to a DW, it would make it less intimate. That's what the at home reception is for, right?

Theres so much info in this forum and i've read some wedding reviews...but i'm feeling overwhelmed right now and I'm just bad at making decisions. lol. Good luck to everyone and happy planning!

I just bought mine this weekend! Went by a store with mom just to see what they had, wasn't planning on getting one until 6-9 months from now. But one of them was it, I just knew it. :o)

I'm probably going to have 20-30 people come as well. If that. Doesn't matter, as long as my parents and FI are there I will be happy as a clam! Saving money sounds great to me.

have any of you spoke to a travel agent at this point? if so what have they said about pricing and booking? travel agent i went to came back with a price of 1500 before tax per person, which is a lot compared to what i paid last yr. she said to check back in jan. but my fi an i wanted to get invites out right around then.

how soon did u put ur invites out?

I did speak with a local TA and she said reservations can be made about 10 months in advance. So it looks like I have until June or July before I can actually DO anything as far as the trip itself goes. I may need that long to choose a resort though, haha.

As far as prices, she gave me about the same but for just 5 days. I've been doing my own research and just getting April 2010 prices to guess about April 2011 (cheapcaribbean.com, bookit.com, expedia.com, etc). Nothing else I can really go off of. We are at a stand still.

Hi ladies! I'm a 2011 bride, May 6, 2011 to be exact in the Riviera Maya. We're now thinking Dreams Tulum for our locations. We literally don't have time to get married in 2010 because I don't have any breaks from school (i'm working on my master's) and we're taking 2 weeks to go to Thailand for my best friends wedding, so there goes Fi's 2 week vacation! I figure having it in 2011 gives me plenty of time and this way I can have it all planned 6 months before so I can study and get my license and start my practice without worrying about wedding details, that's the plan anyway. I've booked my photographer, had the wedding colors picked and flowers way before we were engaged. I'm also doing passport STD's and boarding pass invites. We originally were planning on 20-25 now we're looking closer to 60 guests!! I'm planning on sending my STD's out in April and my invites in September with an RSVP date on November 1, 2010.

Ok that was a little more lengthy than I thought it would be. Glad to see this thread I didn't think there were others planning this far out!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
