How was your meeting with Cecilia Dumas? Can't wait to hear about it Hi Carolina, Well I was suppose to meet with Cecilia Dumas at 12:30pm on 11/26, after my meeting with Cecilia from Dreams. Cecilia from Dreams let me use the phone at Dreams to call Cecilia Dumas. When I spoke with Cecilia she sounded confused and said that she didn't understand how her assistant had booked her appt. to meet with me today if she had a wedding to do at 2pm. (Mind you I thought she was the one that set up the appt. over email. So I don't know if I was speaking to her or her assistant?) She had even told me specifically where to meet her at! So I was very happy Cecilia let me call her from Dreams. I asked her if she was available on Saturday (since my fiance and I had booked an excursion for Friday and Sunday) and she said she had a wedding on that day also. She asked me to call her on Sunday when I got back from my excursion and that she would meet with me at whatever time since she was free the whole day. We didn't get back from our excursion until late and frankly I didn't feel like having to go back to downtown cancun so we ended up not calling her. My fiance and I were talking and we will probably be going back to Cancun July of next year again and actually STAY at Dreams Cancun so we can see how everything flows? Anyway, we decided that we will try and meet with her again in person then. I was kind of upset that she had booked to meet with me on the same day as a wedding, but like I said she blamed it on her assistant and seemed apologetic. I'm going to try and not let this misunderstanding influence my decision on Cecilia Dumas, yet.

I have been in emailing back and forth with Cecilia for a couple of months now and that was why I met with her. Cecilia actually also had a new girl there that I believe she said was an understudy. Those are the only two wedding coordinators that I met with. I do remember though emailing the main email for dreamscancun once and getting a response from Claudia so I'm assuming she is still there. I leave back to jersey today I LOVE Mexico!!! lol Talk to you guys when I get back!
  3. Ok so I know this may sound like a stupid question, but here goes, How do you start your own thread on this website?
  4. Hi Ladies!!! Well I arrived in Cancun yesterday and went for my site visit at Dreams Cancun today. Let me tell you that I fell in LOVE with Dreams. The gazebo is absolutely beautiful and for the most part isolated from the other busy areas which was important to me. I did my site visit with Cecilia and she was awesome! Anything I asked from her she let me know that it was possible which I loved. She totally took her time with me and my fiance even though she had a wedding that day at 2pm. As we were on our tour several guests from a wedding party she had done the night before stopped to say hi to her and they seemed very happy. The resort is not too big, not too small, but perfect. It was VERY VERY windy when we were there. I am not sure if it is always that windy there since the whole day that day wherever we were was windy. Cecilia did say though that it is usually windy. I definetly think that for our wedding, my bridesmaids and I will need an updo. There was construction going on off to the side of the gazebo towards the beach area? Cecilia said that the goverment is working on making it a "better" beach and once it's done it should look wonderful. I had asked her if they had any other types of chairs for ceremony/reception. (The chairs they use now are kind of a dark purple color and actually need the white covers or else I don't think they would look as nice. Cecilia actually told me that they were thinking of ordering Tiffany chairs and that they will hopefully have it in the future. Cecilia showed us the Terrace in the back of the Spa and said that although they have not done many, there is an option to have a reception by the terrace in the back of the spa. She said the only condition is that the reception must be at 8pm, since that is when the spa closes. She said that this is the only place where you can have your wedding until later as it isn't really in the hotel and the noise does not bother anybody. Any other place she said the reception has to be over at 11pm. Also I asked her about the two DJ's, DJ Mannia, and DJ Doremixx. According to Cecilia the owner of DJ Mannia has moved to Dominican Republic and they have a new owner. She said that the MC is great but did say that lately they've had a couple of problems with the DJ? She didn't specify what but I believe she said that these owners were more unorganized. She gave good reviews about Doremixx. All in all I fell in love with Dreams. My fiance and I booked our date even though it's far away and I'm waiting on the proposal (July 23,2011) I am very much excited. As I am still in Cancun (I love free internet service and my laptop...lol) I will try and post pictures when I get back home Hope this helps!
  5. I'm actually going to Cancun next week for my birthday/site visit/maybe book our wedding date/meet with Cecilia Dumas! lol My fiance and I are staying at Moon Palace but we have a site visit booked for my b day (11/26) at Dreams....I'm so excited!!!! I promise to take a lot of pictures!!! I love Cecilia Dumas work and she has been very responsive with my emails. I think I'm leaning towards using her for our wedding.
  6. Congrats!!Your wedding looked amazing and I love your hair and makeup!!!You looked beautiful on your day...I'm glad everything worked out for the best...

Thanks again!! Have fun No prob! I'll definetly ask her...I'll try to email her before I leave to see if she can bring some cenote session pictures...I'll keep you posted!

Thanks for the feed back Hey Carolina, I'm looking at Cecilai Dumas to be my photographer for my wedding. I have been speaking to her via email and she has been very responsive which to me is important when planning a destination wedding. She seems very easy to work with. She is definetely cheaper than some of the other photographers that I also like, and the pictures on her website are amazing. My fiance and I will be traveling to Cancun on the 25th of this month and have an appt to meet with her on the 26th. I will be more than happy to ask her any questions in person if you need them answered? Let me know? I have read nothing but good reviews about her on this website.

I'll give it back to my mom so she can wear it and buy matching wedding bands with my hubby-to-be instead). Though I'm thrilled about getting the ring for sentimental reasons (and because it looks gorgeous too:)), I kinda wish my mom had done that in secret with my FI behind my back instead of telling ME about it. We plan on marry in the spring of 2011, in Varadero Cuba. My FI is almost as much into the planning as me, always talking about it and often looking online for more info/reviews for the resorts we are thinking of (mostly the Iberostars Varadero and Laguna Azul). Getting your grandmother's ring sounds awesome...definetly cool...Yeah unfortunately guys aren't as creative as us to do things like that behind our backs....lol...Cuba? That sounds awesome, I never even thought of Cuba...mmmhhhmmm makes me wonder....lol...

Getting married is all HE talks about but we are waiting for his divorce from his 1st marriage to be final before we go any further. But in the meantime, I have been planning away!! This will be my 1st marriage so I am crazy excited!! Since he has done the whole traditional wedding at home with hundreds of guest, he has left the ideas for our wedding up to me since it’s my 1st time. By the time he proposes, I will probably be done planning!! This board is God sent!!! Reading you alls post has made me feel so much better!! THANKS LADIES!! Thanks Heaven Scent! Hopefully you'll get your ring soon! Welcome to the forum! I'm sooo happy I found this site. You will see that this forum has a wealth of information and everyone hear is so great and willing to answer questions. Trust me when I found this thread, I thanked god I wasn't crazy...lol and that there were other brides to be planning there weddings so far in advance too! Good luck!
  11. Thanks guys!!! You are all awesome! I love this website!!! It's awesome...I'm going to be going to Dreams Cancun and Moon Palace 11/25-30 so let me know if anybody has any questions they need me to ask!!!I'll also be taking a lot of pictures!!!

You must be SOOO happy now! Oh I am so happy for you....I wish I could have seen your face when he did it! I think Im gonna try looking at wedding books now....lol....just kidding! Thats such great news Yencie!!! Now like you said, you can officially start planning again without getting the rolling of the eyes. Oh how exciting! I cant wait for you to go on your site visit and hopefully nail down a date. That will lift a huge weight off your shoulders. Especially being able to do that while your down there and not worry about it via emails like the rest of us. You will have to take a lot of pictures so we can see where it will be. Ya the more I think about it, the more comfotable I am with the thought of getting married here first and not telling anyone and then doing the symbolic ceremony there. I dont think anyone will know the difference. Plus that way we wont be nervous of the day of the beach ceremony. Might remember more of it that way. I know my last wedding was a total blur for most of the time...lol...probably better that way now anyways...lol So what does the ring look like? You have to upload a pic to photobucket and get it on here!!!! I want to see the beauty! Did you phone everyone right away I bet you were on the phone for hours! lol THats sucha cute way of doing it. I told Riley I didnt want anything fancy or something which involved a lot of people. Just me and him,...even if he asked me in bed on a sunday morning...lol....I dont care so long as its heartfelt and genuine and romantic. I dont need the weekend away or fancy dinner. Just me and him. So I love that your now FIANCE (dont you just love the sound of that when it refers to your man...lol) did it that way. Its really cute and unique. Plus it TOTALLY caught you off guard and thats the way it should be. You didnt have a chance to figure it out. So great!!!! Keep me posted on EVERYTHING!!!!! Congrats from Riley and I!!!! Thanks Jenny! Yeah he totally caught me off guard!!!It's funny because I think he thought once he proposed he would be off the hook at least until we leave to cancun in a couple of weeks but nope! Not me! lmao!!!Now I've been talking even more about it! My parents feel so sorry for poor Anthony! lmao....Oh well...I think he's just as excited now though too....(I think he likes to be referred to as FIANCE...LOL) I definetly want to do the legal wedding here...I'm scared my parents will find out though because they are just that nosy and will probably ask me what paperwork and stuff I would need to get married in cancun...Oh well worse case, I'll just have to tell them...lol I can't wait for you to get engageeddddd!!!!!Hopefully Riley gets inspired now...lol...It's hilarious how we were talking about it and then BAM! he proposes! His ears must have been burning and he must have heard us..lol...I have to figure out how to upload the ring but if you go under Diamond Jewelry, Wedding Band, Engagement Ring, Stud Earring and type 497 in the search you'll be able to see the ring without the center stone. The center stone is a princess cut. It sucks because pictures don't really do it justice...It's a really pretty ring.... Ok so one down one more to go Jenny! I'm rooting for you!!!!lol

I'm giving my photographer our deposit on Friday. Ashley to answer your questions about the decor items, until I found this forum and starting looking at more pictures I wasn't planning on taking much with me, but now I'm taking a lot to help save money and because I know it will be what I want. I plan on getting real touch bouquets, chair sashes and overlays, and doing my own centerpieces to take with me. I'm going to just split it up between my guests and have receipts for everyone with everything to eliminate problems with customs. Thanks! I'm sooo excited now!....wow You already have your date book? that is awesome...I hope that when I go down to mexico on the 25th I fall in love with one of the resorts because I really want to book a date...then I can start planning on the std's! lol....Yeah I'm also planning on ordering my own chair sashes because it looks like they are about $4 a chair if I order them through the resort....I'm not that crafty to be able to make my own centerpieces though I'll probably order flowers....who knows we'll see...maybe I'll get inspired once I have a date....lol Splitting everything with everyone is definitely smart...I'm going to probably have to do the same....

However I feel a little lingering feeling like Im missing something or should have something else in there. I may break down and buy something else to put in them as I still have a year to go, but for now they are done and are going into storgae until I decide as to whether I ship them to Playa Del Carmen or whether I lug everything down there. On the plus side, I will have an empty suitcase to fill with souveniers and statues when I come home.....hmm...thats an idea...lol Thanks for looking ladies, and if you have any further ideas as to what I might be missing, I would love to hear them. I have decided against getting beach towels due to cost and weight of my luggage so thats out. Thanks again for all of your post and helping me with ideas on my OOT bags! So glad I found this forum! Thanks for looking and Congrats to all the brides to be and newly weds! Jennifer I loveeee your OOT bags!!! They look great!

I would rather have most of my stuff figured out now then in 6 months from now and we get married in Jan 2011. I too picked out my ring, he just hasnt ordered it yet. Im pretty sure I wont be getting mine until early next year. He picked out his wedding band a few weeks ago and I paid for it then, so now we are just waiting on its arrival. Totally backwards, but atleast its in some direction and not a stand still. The postage idea is a neat thought, never heard of that before. I think the only other thing I will be doing is getting my ID/badge holders for my OOT bags, and doing my invites. I'm all DIY'd out. Are you doing centrepeices and sashes and all that jazz?? I have seen so many brides doing that, and not that there is anything wrong with it, but I thought that was the whole point behind a DW? No? To avoid having to do all of that and lug it all down there. Im already worried about my OOT bags and contents, let alone thinking about more things to bring down for the wedding. Are you legally getting married there or are you doing a symbolic wedding? I think we have decided to do the legal thing here just before we leave and not tell anyone. Then do just the symbolic part there, that way we dont run into issues with blood tests, and paperwork, and then waiting on the marriage cert from Mexico. It just seems like a lot of added costs to me. Would rather spend that on my trip and honeymoon then give it to the resort or the meixcan government...lol. Your so lucky you get to do a site visit! I wish we could but its just not in the cards for us. We just bought a house last year and have been putting alot of money into it, so its justnot going to work that way for us. Enjoy your time there, let me know how it goes! Im sure you will be beautiful in your dress regardless of how tall you are. Atleast you have the option to shorten your dress, I had to make sure mine was long enough! lol.....Just dont kill yourself in the heels if you plan to get married on the beach....I think we are going barefoot as he is a tiny weeny bit taller then me...dont want to be taller then him...lol...plus I think I would kill myself in the heels in the sand. lol PM me when you get the proposal and a pic of the ring....so excited for you! JENNYBELL1!!!!HE FINALLY DID IT!!!!!!He proposed last night! I was soooo caught off guard and it's hilarious because I knew it was going to happen soon but I didn't expect it to be last night!. I was sitting in our basement looking through a brides magazine (lol) and he was playing pool. He then came up to me and pullsn out the ring and says "Let me help you out, I think you're going to need this to keep looking through the magazine" lol...It was so not what I expected my proposal to be but was so perfect. I was in complete shock, and can you believe I CRIED!!!lol So totally NOT me....the ring is beautiful and now it's official so I'm veryn happy....I have been given the OK to start looking at wedding websites again...lol...I hope it happens for you soon....It's the best feeling even if we know they are going to do it, it was still a surprise. As far as centerpieces and all that, I'll probably just order it from the resort. I know DW are suppose to be easier. For me honestly the reason for wanting a destination wedding is because I wanted pictures with the beautiful caribbean water in it. I also knew that I would not be able to afford having the type of wedding I wanted if I got married down here because my guest list would have been ridiculous. Doing the DW makes it easier for us. I think we are getting legally married here first as well and not telling anyone. It's just cheaper and easier. I don't feel like going through the whole blood test thing down there either or spending the extra money. You def look like you have everything planned out. When we go for our site visit on the 25th, my fiance said if we like the resort we can pick a date so we'll see. I want to pick a date so that I can send our STD's by january of next year...I'm going to try and figure out how to take a picture of my ring to send you

I can't wait to actually start picking out which ones I'll for sure do and start working on them! Hey Cassie! I havent really thought or worried about another colour really. AS my wedding is going to be informal, Im not worrying about table settings, centrepeices, etc. My thought behind a DW was so that I didnt have to worry about those things. I did that at my first wedding, dont want to do it this time. Plus I dont want to have to lug all that crap down and then back. Its bad enough Im doing it with my OOT bags. As for the OOT bags, I posted a thread last night called " Finished OOT bags *pic heavy*" you should check that out as it shows all of my DIY's, contents, bags and more. It shows my starfish bottle topper favours along with a few extras that I will be putting in the bags. It would be easier then me listing it again on here, plus the other thread has pictures ; and we all love pictures! Oh how I miss the Moon Palace....cant wait to hear what you decided. I hope you have a great site visit. When are you going? And did they give you a deal on the cost of the site visits bc you will be booking for 2011? I figure our wedding/honeymoon will cost us about $6000. That includes the basic legal wedding pkg from Sandos and 2 weeks in mexico and our day trips. We get a pretty good deal if we switch from one hotel to another half way through. Thats the plan anyways. We will see. I own a timeshare in Montana, and am looking into using a week in Playa Del Carmen instead of Montana in Jan 2011 for our honeymoon as it might save us even more money. Not sure yet, but its in the works. Sandos Playacar Beach is in Playa Del Carmen, about an hour from the moon palace I think. I have been to Cancun and the Mayan Riviera before, so I wanted something different this time. Plus I heard that Sandos Playacar Beach Resort has the best beach in the area. There is a secluded beach area to the one side of the resort that goes on for miles with nothing around. Soto me thats perfect for my pictures and wedding. I want it more intimate. Plus Sandos seems to be much more willing to move when it comes to the wedding pkg and they dont seem to nickel and dime you as the other resorts do. But thats only what I have been told by other Brides who choose sandos over other resorts after their site visits. So I dont know for sure. Am only going off what they have said. As for photographer, we are really lucky bc Riley's mom is a professional photographer. She is an amazing lady with an amazing talent. Her pcitures are phenominal and she sells out at all of her art shows. So luckily for us we wont have to worry about that at all. Once she gives us the CD's from the wedding we can get everything we want printed in the 5x7 or 8x10's and get the rest in 4x6 for our albums. Phew! One less thing to worry about as I know picking a photgrapher is tricky sometimes. Plus we dont have to pay the resort to have her bc she is a guest. So that also saves us too. I have heard some resorts charge anywhere from $80-$300 to have an off site photographer...its crazy! Thank for the support on the wieght. I have about 40 or so more to go to feel happy where Im at. Im tall as it is so I dont show my wieght very well which is great, but I do want that svelt body for my strapless dress....lol...thank god we have a year or more to work on it! I hate having to wait so long for my wedding, but atleast it allows me time to get my body where I want it to be....lol.... Don't stress, you have lots of time to loss any wieght you want. Riley is alos loosing weight so we will be all buff by Jan 2011...lol...well maybe but not buff..lol....but happier in bathing suits! Have you started on anything yet? Vistaprint.com has great deals and I have already bought so much from them and paid only the shipping costs as everything else was free. You should get set up on their email list if you can. They have great deals! What are your colours? How many in the bridal party? Do you know where you are honeymooning? Cant wait to hear back on your site visit...keep me posted! OMG!!! You really DO have everything figured out!!!lol You are so lucky to be able to have Riley's mom as a photographer!!!You are also saving so much! I wish someone in our family was a photographer...too bad if I were to leave it up to my dad, half of our heads would be cut off the pictures! lol I actually emailed Cecilia from DReams Cancun and she claims that they can't honor the prices from 2010 if we book in 2010 for 2011 which I'm going to wait to speak to her in person about anyway. So I've been driving my futere FI crazy because he sees me on all these wedding websites and he keeps saying "can we wait till we are engaged first?! jeez it's not even going to be a surprise when I propose!" lmao! but it's really hard because I know it's right around the corner so I feel like I at least need to look into things. I was looking at zazzle.com and I thought it was pretty cool how you can make your own postage....I might think of doing that....As far as everything else I guess I'm going to wait until my site visit on 11/26 of this year (and also thanksgiving and my bday!!! woo hoo!lol) I guess maybe then my FI will be more into trying to pick a date and location and all that good stuff....I've been trying to trick him into telling me what days in 2011 he likes but he just rolls his eyes...lol he thinks i'm crazy....ANYWAY as far as weight loss...you are SOOOO luck that you are tall...not only will weight look better on you but your dress will look amazing! I unfortunately am vertically challenged at 5'1"! lol sooooo I'm going to have to learn how to walk in realllllly high heals to make my dress look good. I figured I'll get real serious about my weight come january...i'm going on to cancun in november and christmas is around the corner so I don't necessarily see myself eating healthy then!lol but I'll try!...good job on the OOT bags by the way! I can't wait to get the green light from my future FI...lol Maybe he'll propose on vacation!

Im a big planner as it is so I have started really early...lol. Next Im onto my welcome books which will take me a really long time as I have to make up about 15 of them all by hand. We are planning on the first week in Jan 2011 as it will be cheaper for our guests at Sandos Playacar Beach Resort. I so wanted Dreams but it was out of our budget and I couldnt ask my guests to pay that. I wish! Im going to live vicariously through you now if you go there. Oh and btw, I stayed at the Moon Palace in 2006 and saw a ton of weddings. It is a beautiful resort and the staff are AMAZING! If you do end up picking there, you wont be disappointed. Its fabulous and huge. Plus you can play at all of their resorts while you stay there. Good luck, cant wait to hear which resort you picked! WOW!!! You are sooo way ahead of me with your planning!lol I'm only in the beginning stages...Did you decide on your color scheme? What did you include in your OOT bags? What favours did you choose? Yeah my FI likes the whole horse and carriage thing at Moon Palace...lol but I'm in love with the gazebo at Dreams. Honestly I haven't thought of a budget yet and I feel that I'll end up going over it anyway if I set it....lol(i'm soooo bad with money! ) I think i saw some of the brides say they were able to pull of the whole wedding between 4200-6000....so we'll see. I'm excited about the site visit though! Where is Sandos Playacar? What photographer did you decide to go with? BTW Congrats on losing all that weight!!!! I soooo need to start on my diet! lol

I figure having it in 2011 gives me plenty of time and this way I can have it all planned 6 months before so I can study and get my license and start my practice without worrying about wedding details, that's the plan anyway. I've booked my photographer, had the wedding colors picked and flowers way before we were engaged. I'm also doing passport STD's and boarding pass invites. We originally were planning on 20-25 now we're looking closer to 60 guests!! I'm planning on sending my STD's out in April and my invites in September with an RSVP date on November 1, 2010. Ok that was a little more lengthy than I thought it would be. Glad to see this thread I didn't think there were others planning this far out! LMAO!!! OMG you sound like me!!! All my friends and future FI think I'm crazy because I have started planning location, what photographer I want, color scheme...etc before we are engaged!....lol I mean I know I'm going to be engaged by this year and I just feel like when you are planning destination wedings it takes sooo much longer to plan! I know we want to be married on a Saturday in early 2011 but are not sure of the exact month. We are looking at Dreams Cancun (fell in love with the pictures of the gazebo). We are going to Cancun from 11/25-30 this year and have already booked site visits at Dreams Cancun, Dreams Riviera Cancun and Moon Palace...jeez I sound crazy!lol
